2 #lovepaddington Celebrate Paddington station with us 30m of repairs & improvements on the roof Love Paddington is our chance to celebrate one of the country s most iconic railway stations, which is now better than ever thanks to an exciting programme of improvements through the Railway Upgrade Plan. From the restoration of the historic roof, to the new retail and dining offer in The Lawn, the new look Paddington station is worth celebrating and the good news is there s more to come. Paddington now features 40 retail and dining experiences Upgrades at Paddington station Each year more than 60 million people pass through Paddington station. As part of Network Rail s Railway Upgrade Plan we have improved the experience for everyone using the station, providing the best quality environment to meet, eat, shop and travel. The refurbished & improved roof Built in 1850 by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Paddington is a Grade I Listed Heritage Building. The 30m project to repair, clean and repaint the historic spans of the roof, with the addition of modern lighting, has improved the station s appearance and provides passengers with a lighter, brighter station.
3 #lovepaddington The new Paddington Lawn The Lawn is so called as it was formerly the garden of the station master s cottage. It has transformed the café and retail area at the back of the station into a modern retail and dining destination, while respecting the heritage of the building. A total of 40 retail units are now available at the station with better waiting and seating areas. The glazing on the roof has also been replaced with new, clear windows to let in more natural daylight. GWR s new ticket office The NEW Paddington Lawn Ticket office Great Western Railway s new open plan ticket office is one of the most modern and best looking in the country. Using a Brunel-inspired design, the new ticket office now has 12 counters, meaning much shorter queues, and also offers passengers the next evolution in ticket machines, with much larger screens and more information. 4 #lovepaddington Much more to come at Paddington In May 2017, GWR will run more new trains from Paddington to Maidenhead, extending the services now running between Hayes & Harlington. Later this year GWR Intercity Express Trains will start operating from the station. These new trains will have more seats, provide greater comfort and will have free Wi-Fi, with power at every seat. The trains will enable us to deliver more seats per train; more frequent services; and with the completion of electrification, to reduce journey times. And next year completion of the Crossrail Paddington station will give passengers access to the new Elizabeth Line. Offering new connections, greater capacity and cutting journey times to east and west London. FREE Wi-Fi on new trains with power at every seat Heathrow Express The Heathrow Express, which links London Paddington to Heathrow Airport, is the fastest rail link between London and Heathrow, with 150 services running daily. This year Heathrow Express will carry its 100 millionth passenger. In January 2017 customers voted Heathrow Express staff as being the most helpful in the rail industry. With a 15 minute journey time to and from Heathrow Airport, the service is fast, reliable and friendly.
