Cast Alloy Steel Cast Alloy Steel A217 of Grade C12A Neway has developed Gate,Globe & Check valves for high pressure and high temperature application power plant To cater for the tendency of creasg power plant temperature and pressure to improve efficiencies and meet other high temperature dustries, Neway has successfully developed cast alloy steel A217 Gr. C12A, this alloy exhibits excellent hightemperature properties based on the formation of a particular microstructure contag submicroscopic carbides; the alloy is also much more resistant to thermal fatigue than the austenitic staless steel because of its lower thermal expansion ratg and higher thermal conductivity. Then, the special microstructure can be formed, Fig.1, 2 & 3 show the accepted microstructures: Prolonged function and more compact valves characterized by light weight, small volume and less matenance, specifically designed for the high temperature and the high pressure services encountered nuclear and fossil fuel power plants. Figure 1: Acceptable microstructure (1) of castgs (100X) In response to special requirements of steel types, longterm preparation and R&D have been made. The materials have been verified all properties and qualified to fulfill the application requirements. 1. Deoxidization To remove free oxygen prior to pourg castgs, a small quantity of deoxidizers materials, with a high affity for oxygen, are added to the melted metal; they combe with the oxygen to form solid oxygen clusion particles. The most coon deoxidizers are manganese, silicon and alumum. This is a critical process to ensure that an acceptable microstructure is obtaed (see Fig 1) and we can achieve high temperature creep strength. Figure 2: Acceptable microstructure (1) after weldg. In order to meet the high temperature properties, we perform strict heat treatment procedures; metal temperature,heatg and coolg periods are critical this process. 3. eldg & Postweld heat treatment (PT) To achieve the proper creep resistance and toughness for the high chrome alloy, we use special weld & PT procedures, which clude preheatg temperature control and weldg filler materials, particular attention is given to PT.All processes are controlled precisely to allow the formation of martensite the weld and heat affected zone (AZ).
