1 PARALOID K-435 Acrylic Processing Aid for Vinyl Foam Core Pipes and Foam Profiles Product Description PARALOID K-435 is a new ultra high molecular weight acrylic processing aid for high quality foam applications. Applications Its high foaming efficiency enables converters to meet the most demanding requirements in foam core pipes and foam profile formulations using lower addition levels. The cost performance balance of PARALOID K-435 in these applications is exceptional. Benefits The ultra high molecular weight of PARALOID K-435 gives the following performance properties: Low torque Fusion adapted to latest equipment High melt strength High melt expansion Low density PARALOID K-435 has enhanced powder properties, providing excellent resistance to compaction, thereby enabling bulk delivery. Performance Characteristics Expansion Thanks to its high molecular weight, improved hot melt expansion without cell rupture is obtained with PARALOID K-435. This results in more uniform profiles with low density.

Torque The slightly longer fusion time displayed by PARALOID K-435 results in lower extruder torque when compared to conventional grade.

2 Density The high efficiency of PARALOID K-435 enables a lower density to be obtained. The graph below illustrates this can be achieved at reduced addition levels when compared to a conventional high molecular weight process aid. Due to this feature, high extrusion speeds and higher output is achievable without exceeding extruder torque limits. Viscosity As expected, the high molecular weight characteristics of PARALOID K-435 lead to slightly higher melt viscosity when compared to the conventional grade.

4 Processing Brabender Rheology PARALOID K-435 has been developed to take account of current trends in processing conditions. As such, compared with a conventional high molecular weight process aid, K-435 has a slightly longer fusion time. On large high output extruders, this will lead to lower screw torque.
