TerraMax Soybean Inoculants Offering August 2006
Who is TerraMax? Microbiological Research and Development Company located in Cottage Grove, MN TMI has been manufacturing soybean and other inoculants since 1998 Proprietary formulation technology allows TMI to offer unique offerings to the soybean producer 2006 was first major year of commercialization All formulations are sanitary and carry a two year shelf life
What makes TerraMax Soybean inoculants different? Proprietary formulation technology provides greater stability across formulations All products are sanitary All product with 2 year shelf life Dry carrier is not peat based Utilizes carbon source that is sanitary Formulation allows for greater number of viable bacteria at germination: Count is less important than viability Example is greater number of larger nodules
Why is Stability Important? Bacteria are sensitive to environmental conditions like heat and moisture. Unprotected from these elements, they die before they benefit the crop. SURVIVAL
TerraMax Inoculant Offerings TerraMax soybean inoculants TerraMax Soybean Inoculant Bradyrhizobium TerraMax Soybean Inoculant + Z Bradyrhizobium + Azospirillum TerraMax Wheat, Corn and Grain Sorghum MicroAZ Azospirillum Fixes atmospheric nitrogen Increases root mass
TerraMax Soybean Inoculants! TerraMax Soybean Inoculant Bradyrhizobium 2 strains Dry - XL and liquid formulations 2 year shelf life TerraMax Soybean Inoculant + Z Bradyrhizobium 2 strains Azospirillum - 2 species Dry - XL and Liquid formulations 2 year shelf life
TerraMax Soybean Inoculant TM Dry - XL and Liquid formulations Liquid Contains: 1 X 10 9 Bradyrhizobium japonicum per gram 2 strains 4.25 oz per cwt of seed Dry - XL Contains: 1 X 10 8 Bradyrhizobium japonicum per gram 2 strains Dry XL formulation is Extended Life may be applied 30 days prior to planting Will stick to what it is put on Difficult to remove once on seed 2 oz per unit of seed
TMI Soybean Inoculant XL - Dry Extended life May be applied 30 days prior to planting No degradation of performance over time Allows for greater flexibility for treatment Lower impact of weather delaying inoculation or planting Mix thoroughly
TMI Soybean Inoculant + Z TMI Soybean Inoculant + Z 1 X 10 9 Bradyrhizobium japonicum per gram 2 strain 1 X 10 8 Azospirillum spp. per gram 2 species Dry XL and Liquid formulations 2 year shelf life Z formulations increase Yield Root mass Nodulation
Why Z (Azospirillum) Formulations? Z formulations have been shown to increase yield Increase root mass Results in greater moisture stress tolerance Greater root forage capability When combined with Bradyrhizobium increases net nitrogen fixation Increased nodulation (TMI and Independent third party confirmation) % varies due to environment
Soybean Inoculants Package Sizes Dry: XL (Extended Life) 30 days prior to planting Application rate: 2 oz/unit Liquid: 20 oz -10 unit pack 5# - 40 unit pack Liquid application rate: oz/unit 105 oz bladder 50 unit 2.5 gallon 150 unit
2006 Key Learning's Dry must be mixed thoroughly with seed to work effectively when planter box applied Highly charged formulation mix well! High residual nitrogen will reduce nodulation (60# s or greater) Virgin soybean ground use 1.5X rate of liquid formulation Dry Formulations have extended life 30 days prior to planting
TerraMax Soybean Inoculant Survival Bradyrhizobium Survival CFUs/ml (log base 10) Day 1 Wks 3 Wks 6 Wks 12 Wks 26 Wks 53 Wks 21C 29C 35C
