1 Job Description Job Title Reporting Supervisor Engineer (Electrical) Manager Purpose of the Job To be responsible for carrying out all works safely and efficiently and for the construction, operation and maintenance of all Solar PV Power plants in Mauritius and Rodrigues Desirable Knowledge, Attitude and Competencies Good knowledge in design, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance principle of electrical and Solar PV Systems. Should possess extensive knowledge of alternators, switchgear, protective equipment, controls and instrumentations, information and protection technologies. Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical and electromechanical systems in Solar PV plants and safety rules. Ability to effectively lead and manage a team of technical staff. Good knowledge of and understanding of CEB s Generation system Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills Valid driving licence Qualifications and Experience Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or an alternative equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board; Registered with the Council of Registered Professional Engineers in Mauritius; and At least three years post registration experience in a utility operating environment or relevant field particularly in design, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of electrical & control systems in power plants/related field. Experience in Solar PV systems installation would be an advantage. Duties and Responsibilities 1. To be responsible for the design, installation, testing and commissioning of equipment related to Solar PV Plants 2. To be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of the electrical system in power stations.

2 3. To be responsible for the upgrading of projects in Solar PV plants. 4. Perform real and injection tests on protective relays in power stations 5. To analyse and, on the basis of results obtained, make appropriate recommendations 6. To be responsible for the programming and installation of PLC and SCADA systems. 7. To ensure that operation and maintenance are carried out as per manufacturer s instructions. 8. To ensure renewal of all licenses and permits. 9. To follow up and monitor works assigned to Contractors. 10. To assist the Manager in the proper day to day operation and management of Solar PV Plants. 11. To ensure that all the equipment are in good operating conditions. 12. To ensure adequate stock of spare parts, consumables and other essential items for all equipment under his responsibility. 13. To plan and execute scheduled maintenance programmes on Solar PV units and auxiliaries. 14. To be responsible for all relevant technical documentation of plant, electrical/ electromechanical and control systems, machinery and ancillary equipment. 15. To supervise the work of subordinates to ensure that operation, maintenance and repairs are carried out smoothly and efficiently. 16. To arrange for leaves of staff members and control overtime, time sheets, requisitions, reservations etc. 17. To prepare tender specifications for purchase of electrical and control equipment and participate in the evaluation of tenders, quotations and make subsequent recommendations. 18. Exercise quarterly budgetary control over the projects 19. To deal expeditiously with cases of breakdown, emergencies and cyclones. 20. To execute such instructions as may be issued by the Manager. 21. To develop and deliver training to personnel in power stations. 22. To ensure that Health and Safety measures are observed. 23. To effect proper administration of CGE s asset under his control and to exercise control on CGE vehicles. 24. Perform stand by duties on a roster basis 25. 4 Job Title Reporting Supervisor Job Description Senior Technical Officer- Electrical Engineer Purpose of the Job To supervise work related to erection or maintenance of and repairs to electrical/electronic, electromechanical equipment and to other electrical equipment or loose tools, building and yard. To supervise daily work organisation in connection with transport, attendance and time sheets, distribution of work and work progress reports To assist Engineers in the proper operation of the section Desirable Knowledge, Aptitude and Competencies Good knowledge and understanding of CEB s Generation system and safety rules Good knowledge of the operation of electrical and electromechanical systems in power stations to ensure that own and others work areas are safe Good knowledge in installation, programming and commissioning of PLC and SCADA systems. Good knowledge of photovoltaic small & medium scale generation systems Ability to assign work to and oversee the activities of technical work teams Knowledge in the practical application of equipment in power stations Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills Qualifications and Experience a) Pass in 5 subjects at Cambridge School Certificate or GCE O level obtained at one and the same sitting; b) University Diploma or Final certificate (Part 3) of City & Guilds or Advanced Technician Diploma in Electrical or Electronics or Electromechanical Engineering; OR An alternative equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board; AND reckon at least 5 years experience in testing, maintenance and repairs of Electrical, electromechanical, electronic and control equipment in relevant field. Experience in Solar PV systems installation would be an advantage. Possession of valid driving licence (including Van up to 2.5 tons)

5 Duties and Responsibilities To supervise: a) the erection, testing and commissioning of all electrical equipment (LV systems, transformers, DC systems, PV systems, PLC & SCADA systems) related to Power Stations b) maintenance and repairs of electrical & electronic systems. c) Maintenance and troubleshooting of PV panels and battery-charger / inverter systems d) the operation of electro-mechanical equipment e) construction, testing and commissioning of all electrical, electronic, electromechanical and control equipment in all power stations To maintain electrical machinery such as standby sets, asynchronous motors, batteries and battery chargers, HV and MV switchgears, panels for HV, MV & LV systems, local transformers, etc. in Power Stations To attend to faults and repairs to electrical/electronic equipment To attend to faults when on standby duty and to clear such faults whenever possible To assist the Operator in the operation of electrical equipment in the Power Station To be responsible for the: 1. location of faults and for repairs to electrical / electronic equipment 2. organisation and administration of the work of personnel under their control including contractual workers 3. distribution of work and the checking of attendance of workmen 4. drawing of materials from stores for distribution to workmen on specific jobs and for the exercising of strict control over the use of these materials 5. allocation of practical work to apprentices and to train them to semi-skilled or skilled Electricians. To ensure that tools and workshop machinery allocated to the electrical section are kept in good conditions To submit quarterly reports on the serviceability of the tools and workshops machinery To inspect the plant and equipment frequently during operation and standstills to ensure that all items are functioning properly To keep up to date records of overtime, labour force, local leave and sick leave and

To keep records of logging of repairs or maintenance carried out on equipment as per the issue of the appropriate maintenance repairs certificates To ensure that Safety and Health measures and good housekeeping are observed and maintained. To ensure good maintenance of buildings and year. To perform shift work as may deemed necessary To ensure good housekeeping and maintenance of building and yard. To carry out monthly filling of CGE s vehicles logbooks associated with the power plant. To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the superior officer. Experience in Solar PV systems installation will be an advantage. Possession of valid driving licence (including Van up to 2.5 tons). To supervise maintenance and repairs of Solar PV system and auxiliaries in all the CGE s power plants.

8 To be responsible for the location of faults on and repairs to mechanical equipment To keep proper care of tools and workshop machinery allocated to the mechanical section and submit quarterly reports on their serviceability. To supervise the operation of electro-mechanical equipment in power station. To inspect the plant and equipment frequently during operation and standstills to ensure the proper functioning of all items and to look for maintenance items which require attention To attend to faults and wherever possible clear such faults when on standby duty To be directly responsible the organisation and administration of the personnel/contractual workers under his control. To be responsible for the distribution of work, checking attendance of workmen. To keep up to date records of overtime, labour force, leave and tools stock. To keep records of logging of repairs or maintenance carried out on equipment as per the issue of the appropriate maintenance repairs certificates. To be responsible for the drawing of materials from stores for distribution to workmen on specific jobs and for the exercising of strict control on the use of these materials. To be responsible for allocating practical work to apprentices and to train them to semiskilled or skilled technicians. To be responsible for maintaining discipline amongst workmen, apprentices and other contractual workers To ensure that Safety and Health measures and good housekeeping are observed and maintained To ensure good housekeeping and maintenance of building and yard. To perform shift work as may be deemed necessary. To assist in maintenance of electrical equipment where handling of heavy machine parts is required To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the superior officer. 9 Job Description Job Title Reporting Supervisor Technician - Mechanical S.T.O Mechanical Purpose of the Job To carry out installation, operation, maintenance and repair of Solar PV system and its auxiliaries and stand by set unit. To perform all shaping, drilling, cutting, grinding and painting, operations and maintenance of machine tools and equipment in all Solar PV plants. Desirable Knowledge, Attitude and Competencies Good knowledge of spoken and written English and French Ability to read and interpret technical drawings to troubleshoot faults on mechanical, electromechanical systems in power stations Good knowledge in safe working practices Good Housekeeping skills Good drive, determination, teamwork and ability to learn. Good knowledge of measuring tools and equipment. Knowledge in Solar PV system installation shall be an advantage Qualifications and Experience Pass in 3 subjects at Cambridge School Certificate/ or GCE O level at one and same sitting and a Technical Certificate in Maintenance Fitting/ Welding or related field or any other acceptable equivalent qualification and; At least 3 years relevant working experience Form III together with the City & Guilds Part I in Mechanics or Electro-mechanics Engineering or the NTC 2/ NC 4 in Industrial Machine Maintenance or NTC 3/ NC 3 in Machine Tool Operator or BAP Fabrication Mecanique or NTC 3/ NC 3 Mechanical Engineering Practice or any other acceptable equivalent qualification and; OR Reckon at least 5 years relevant working experience. AND Possession of a valid driving licence for Car and Van up to 2.5 tons

10 Duties and Responsibilities To carry out installation, operation and maintenance of the Solar PV plant and its auxiliaries and stand by set unit. To repair and maintain mechanical infrastructures and equipment of the solar PV systems. To carry out installation works of Solar PV system roof-top grid-tie on premises. To integrate site construction team for erection/ commission of new projects. To fabricate new components and carry out repair of old ones using lathe, shaping and milling machines. To manufacture fittings and other components required in PV power plant. To perform all shaping, drilling, cutting, grinding and painting, operations and maintenance of all machine tools related to Solar PV plant. To check and maintain all tools and equipment and ensure that they are in good working order. To ensure that sufficient stock levels of materials required for PV systems are maintained. To dismantle, repair and reassemble Solar PV systems and its auxiliaries. To perform pipe fitting and machining works. To drive vehicles to site of work and back. To carry out regular checks on equipment in all power plant sites and report back/take necessary actions. To ensure that proper records are kept in vehicle logbooks To operate crane and use other lifting tools to carry out repair and maintenance of equipment. To adhere to safety rules and regulations at all times. To ensure good housekeeping. To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the superior officer.
