1 VACANCY Job Title: Hours: Workshop Foreman 37 hours per week Salary: 24,472-27,123 (starting salary 24,472) Location: Equipment Workshops, Thornaby, Relocating in summer Cleveland Fire Brigade is looking to recruit a Workshop Foreman to lead the workshop teams providing maintenance, servicing, repairs, testing of heavy and light vehicles and maintaining legislative records, along with, plant and operational equipment in a safe, efficient and economical manner. The Fleet, Admin, stores and equipment departments in the technical services directorate are moving to new premises at the Queens Meadows Industrial Estate in Hartlepool, due to be completed Summer This facility will enhance the service currently provided by Technical services to all internal and external customers with improved facilities and technology for staff and customers. Therefore the successful candidate must be willing to relocate. The successful candidate must have experience in mechanical repairs, experience in transport management system or similar fleet management systems and must hold an IOSH Health and Safety certificate as a minimum. Supervisory experience is also essential. An Engineering qualification is essential; at least city and guilds NVQ level 3 in Light Vehicle and HGV. 2 Personal Role Profile Role Title: Workshop Foreman Reporting To: Fleet & Equipment Manager Location: Brigade Workshops Role/Grade: Grade F Purpose of Role: Key Responsibilities To lead the workshop teams providing maintenance, servicing, repairs, testing of heavy and light vehicles and maintaining legislative records, along with, plant and operational equipment in a safe, efficient and economical manner. 1. The supervision of staff employed within the Brigade s Workshops. 2. The supervision of apprentices employed within the Brigades Workshops. 3. The responsibility for the flow, allocation and completion of scheduled / un-scheduled tasks. 4. Ensure that all records/systems and documentation applicable to the workshop are effectively completed by all staff under their control using Transport Management System. 5. Carry out in a tidy environment the maintenance, servicing, repairs and testing of any vehicle, item of plant or operational equipment within scheduled / un-scheduled maintenance timescales and to the correct specification, using correct procedures, to meet appropriate legislation. 6. Examine components and equipment and report orally and/or in writing on the condition, safety, reliability and performance. 7. Carry out maintenance and repairs on / off site as directed by the Fleet & Equipment manager. 8. Required to be part of the standby out of hour s duty rota to maintain operational fleet cover. 9. Direct and oversee that repairs undertaken are to specification and cost effective. 10. Manage fleet stock parts with suppliers, transport clerks and stores. 11. Provide fire ground assistance, delivering and retrieving vehicles, or as so requested. 12. Create and maintain the relevant record and test certification for all vehicles and equipment worked on. 13. Provide a well-run and maintained Worksop including good housekeeping and defect reporting, with weekly inspection tours of workshop premises, to identify risk. 14. Undertake day to day duties including organising and record keeping: fire drills, risk assessments, electrical safety, VDU Safety, safe carrying of loads, COSSH and other duties as outlined in Health and safety policy. 15. Positively promote and adhere to the Brigade s Equality, Fairness at Work and Health & Safety policies. 16. Ensure that all persons are aware of safety procedures and embed a strong organisational culture seeking to develop a positive attitude to health and safety among staff, visitors and contractors. 17. Promote & Monitor Brigade staff standards for dress and appearance through the wearing of uniform and suitable PPE. 18. Carry out workplace assessments of workshop team members. 19. Take part in personal development reviews and complete personal development records in accordance with Brigade Procedure. 20. Carry out appropriate investigations as a result of accidents, Cause for Concerns or near misses to minimise risk to staff and visitors. 21. Maintain professional qualifications and certification for equipment, personal protective equipment and plant maintenance where required.
