3 MASONRY BRICK & BLOCKWORK Tyrone Group specialises in providing Brick & Blockwork services. PERTH NEW CHILDREN S HOSPITAL Perth s New Children s Hospital is Tyrone Groups largest Masonry project to date, awarded by John Holland. The $1.2 billion Perth Children s Hospital was built on the QEII Medical Centre site in Nedlands and replaced Princess Margaret Hospital as the State s dedicated children s hospital. Tyrone Group completed the full masonry package on both the main hospital and car parks inclusive of rendering, fire-rated sealant, plant and operators in addition to supplying and erecting structural steel. The project commenced in December 2013 and is due for completion in April This was a challenging project due to the magnitude of work to be completed within strict construction programs and deadlines in addition to coordinating works alongside significant volumes of other trades and manpower on site. Tyrone Group adhered to logistical processes implemented by the main contractor including but not limited to coordinating deliveries via an online booking system with limited set down areas. Maintaining and exceeding quality standards was a high priority for Tyrone Group and the project was completed ahead of schedule with zero lost time injuries. KINGS SQUARE - PERTH Tyrone Group was engaged by two head contractors to complete works in both Kings Square 1 & Kings Square 3. This was a major re-development of Wellington Street in Perth s CBD. Tyrone Group was contracted to build the stairwells, plant rooms, party and facade walls on the two multi storey offices and retail towers. TYRONE THINK BRICK! Tyrone Groups work on an Applecross Residence was featured in the Think Brick Australia Awards. The site sits on the edge of the Swan River and the brickwork design encapslates in appearance a mysterious depth and shimmer from the water over the duration of the day. 4 RESTORATION SERVICES Tyrone Group specialises in providing Restoration services of Heritage Buildings. The following are samples of Restoration projects delivered: THE TREASURY HOTEL Tyrone Group was engaged to undertake restoration works at the Old Treasury Building, one of Perth s most significant heritage properties. The works transformed the Old Treasury Building into a premium 6-star boutique hotel. The original building was completed in the early 1900 s and lay vacant for the past 20 years before the mammoth restoration process began. Tyrone Group was delighted to be awarded winner of Subcontractor of the Year for Structural Works by Master Builders 2016 for work on this landmark building. Tyrone Group undertook masonry, concreting, rendering, demolition and scaffolding works. Initial works involved removing and sorting over 400 samples of bricks and mortar through-out the building and taking to a laboratory for structural assessment. Tyrone Group was responsible for installing bearing pads for the structural steel in line with high engineer s specifications. The structural steel was precast in our premises off-site. Tyrone Group also demolished and rebuilt 32 supporting arches in the old Postal Hall as well as extensive structural modifications throughout the building. ST MARYS CATHEDRAL Tyrone Group was awarded Structural and overall Sub- contractor of the Year by Master Builders in 2010 for our work on the restoration of St Marys Cathedral. Work on the original building began in 1863 and Tyrone Group helped transform it into the largest place of worship in the southern hemisphere. Tyrone constructed the under croft area under the existing building, the feature limestone on the cathedral as well as reconstructing the gothic arches on the interior of the original building. Our most interesting work on the project was constructing the hexagonal shaped crypt which sits directly under the altar in the main cathedral to house the remains of past and future arch- bishops of Perth. NATIONAL HOTEL FREMANTLE Originally built as a shop in 1868 and occupied by the National Bank in 1882, this building was destroyed by fire in Tyrone Group were contracted to restore and repoint the original brickwork as well as building the core lift shaft and new bar area using recycled bricks from the original building.
