Only 70% of the amount of food needed today can be produced. The unique matte surface of a Borstar bimodal LLDPE film increases transmission and minimises reflection, allowing optimum sunlight to enter the greenhouse. A natural high haze of 80% diffuses sunlight that enters the greenhouse, distributing it evenly across the entire crop area for wider, more even coverage. Diffused light has been proven by research to increase crop yield by up to 11%, improve crop quality by reducing plant stress, and for some crops, accelerate their growth speed. Borstar based greenhouse films have strong mechanical performance, making them strong and tough to provide safe cover and protection for the crop. Research, performed over the years by universities and institutes, has provided evidence of the benefits of diffused light. The following graphs show research results reflecting the benefits of diffused light found.

7 Mulch films for preserving soil moisture and improving crop yield Strawberries cultivation with Borstar Mulch films Plastic films for mulching of the soil are used to improve cultivation conditions and to modify the soil microenvironment under the covering by controlling soil humidity and temperature. Mulching is mainly employed for moisture conservation, reduction of irrigation frequency, reduce the rain impact, prevent soil erosion, early germination and most importantly weed control.
