NOVEMBER 2016: Single-Use Technologies Key Decisions Behind Implementation Building on the March supplement theme, this edition focuses on how supplier change notifications and existing approaches to supply-chain assurance may encourage or discourage single-use implementation. The issue will also focus on what can contract manufacturers teach drug developers about the future of multiproduct facilities. SEPTEMBER 2016: Outsourcing Strategy When, Where, and How to Manage Contract Projects The modern question is less about whether to outsource biopharmaceutical projects and more about when to do so, where to go with them, and how to manage the resulting contract relationships. How do you make the most of your in-house expertise while leveraging partner capabilities? This issue will address these strategic issues in relation to contract research, development, and manufacturing.

4 CMC Strategy Forum Series Process and Product-Related Impurities JANUARY 2016: Defining Your Product Profile and Maintaining Control Over It Topics address challenges presented by host-cell protein impurities and characterizing and minimizing aggregation. Current commentary from some of the original authors and/or BPI advisors will update key issues. APRIL 2016: Mycoplasma In-Process and Lot Release Testing To PCR or Not to PCR An early CMC Strategy Forum sought consensus regarding testing for mycoplasma infection. Such contamination threatens a product s safety, purity, potency, and consistency. Rapid microbial test methods and characterization focused on applications of polymerase chain reaction methods (PCR). New commentary will explore how these consensus points have stood the test of time. SEPTEMBER 2016: Extractable and Leachables Challenges and Strategies in Biopharmaceutical Development A recent CMC Strategy Forum presented stage-of-the-art technologies for extractables and leachables analysis, stability studies, acceptance limits, and container-closure systems. It coincided with heightened interest in the topic among early proponents of single-use technologies. Follow-up interviews will place this consensus paper in current perspective, highlighting progress made and issues yet to be resolved. NOVEMBER 2016: A Practical Approach to the Analysis and Immunogenic Potential of Aggregates and Particles A CMC Forum paper presented technologies for detecting and analyzing particulates in biopharmaceutical products. How are bioprocessers gaining product-specific knowledge for assessing aggregation risks on product quality, safety, and efficacy? What control strategies support lot release, stability, and comparability assessments? Interviews will discuss advancements made since this original publication.

5 Special Report Series Technical Series MARCH 2016: Immunotherapies Can BioProcess Technology Help Resolve Pricing Dilemmas? Immunotherapies (biologics/cell therapies/vaccines) are among the most promising treatments in development. But many people warn that unless such products are priced so as to be reimbursable, they may never achieve their full market potential.
