Box 2932; Homer, Alaska CITY OF WHITTIER PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY WHITTIER, ALASKA ARCHITECT S PROJECT NUMBER The following corrections, changes, additions, deletions, revisions and/or clarifications are hereby made part of the Contract Documents for the CITY OF WHITTIER PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY located in Whittier, Alaska. In case of conflicts between this Addendum and previously issued documents, this Addendum shall take precedence. Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in the space provided on the Bid Form. Failure to do so may subject the Bidder to disqualification. This Addendum consists of FIVE (5) pages and SIX (6) enclosures with supporting pictures. Item No. 1: Item No. 2: Item No. 3: Item No. 4: Item No. 5: Item No. 6: Instruction to Bidders, item 7, requires the Bidder to supply an Insurance Binder with their bid. The bid documents do not indicate any insurance requirements. Please clarify the insurance requirements so that we can obtain the required document to submit with our bid. SEE ENCLOSURE No. 1. It was requested at pre-bid meeting on September 3 rd, 2015 for additional information on existing concrete slab thickness. SEE ENCLOSURE No. 2. Wall types 3A, 3B & 3C are called out without sound insulation. Theses wall types are shown to be used within the shower room areas. Please confirm the walls called out on Detail 2 on A2.4 do not require sound batt insulation? CONFIRMED, AS DESIGNED. Would it be acceptable to use a shaft wall assembly, such as WP-6850 in lieu of wall type the elevator shaft shown on Detail 1 on A2.4? I WOULD NEED TO HAVE A SUBMITTAL OF WP-6850 TO REVIEW, IT WOULD HAVE TO HAVE SAME FIRE-RATING, LOAD-BEARING/LATERAL STABILITY AND BE ACCEPTABLE TO BOTH FIRE MARSHAL AND ELEVATOR MANUFACTURER. IF ALL THESE ARE REQUIREMENTS ARE MET THEN YES. Provide collateral loading to be applied to the bottom chord of mezzanine floor joist. Spec Sec , page #2, item B references a collateral load requirement of 10 psf for the building design, please clarify the collateral load requirements if any for the bottom chord of mezzanine floor joist. USE 5PSF FOR THE TOP CHORD AND 5 PSF FOR THE BOTTOM CHORD OF THE JOISTS. Spec Sec , page #1, item 1.3 / B - references AISC. The AISC no longer applies to Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings. The AISC has been replaced with the IAS Certification Standards. This can be confirmed with the MOA / Mark Panilo PRE-ENGINEERED METAL BUILDING TO BE COMPLIANT WITH AISC AS APPLICABLE. IAS IS A QUALITY CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT.

Item No. 8: Item No. 9: Item No. 10: Item No. 11: Item No. 12: Item No. 13: Page A3.3 references PEMB sub-framing to be Galv. (silver) Will prime painted PEMB secondary sub-framing (painted to match prime painted primary framing) be considered or accepted in regards to cost effectiveness. PROVIDE G-90 GALVANIZED SECONDARY SUB-FRAMING. Page A6.2. Will increased deflection design limits to the PEMB be required for drop ceiling areas. If so, please clarify exact locations and confirm the required deflection limits in these areas. NO. Page S2.1, general notes #5. Bottom of steel to be minus 12. Please confirm/clarify if this is for all PEMB columns, i.e. interior and exterior perimeter PEMB steel columns. ALL PEMB COLUMNS SHOULD BE SET MINUS 12". Page S5.1. It was originally assumed that the exterior hot dipped galvanized stair assembly would be self-supporting (stand-alone), with structural foundation & footings and designed with self-supporting bracing. Per detail #8 on page S5.1 this may not be the case. If the exterior stair assembly is assumed to attach to the PEMB, the PEMB Manufacturer will need to know the loads imposed on the PEMB structure (seismic, wind, etc.) and the location(s) of the vertical girt shown in the detail so that the connections and support members can be designed and sized properly to accommodate the imposed loads. Please clarify and provide information. NOTE: the penetration through the insulated wall panel (PL1/2x4x1-3 ) may be a frost build up area, it is also assumed that this connection plate is required to be hot dipped galvanized. Please clarify. FIELD LOCATE PER THE DETAIL, SIZE MEMBER/CONNECTION FOR A 2 KIP HORIZONTAL LOAD, PER DETAIL THE CONNECTION PLATE IS PER THE STAIR FABRICATORS AND IS GALVANIZED. Page S5.1, detail #2 and #5 shows PEMB columns to be set on leveling nuts with a 3/4 grout spacing. It is common and most typical for PEMB structures to be designed for columns to sit on - full base plate size full load bearing - smooth concrete level surfaces. Can this detail be modified to accommodate a standard PEMB application. THE DETAILS DON'T SPECIFY LEVELING NUTS, CONTRACTORS OPTION YOU SHOULD COORDINATE WITH THEM ON HOW THEY WANT TO ENSURE A LEVEL SURFACE. I NORMALLY SEE EITHER LEVELING NUTS OR SHIM PACKS, BUT THIS IS BETWEEN YOU AND THE GENERAL. Page A3.1 South Elevation. 5 ea. Mechanical Arctic Hoods. For PEMB design provide sizes of the required PEMB framed openings, sill heights of these framed openings, and the weight each framed openings is required to support. THERE ARE 6 HOODS ON THE SOUTH WALL, NOT COUNTING THE SMALL HOOD IN THE ELEVATOR MACHINE ROOM. THE OPENINGS NEED TO BE LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE DUCT TO FIT THROUGH WITH AN ADDITIONAL 1/4" TO 1/2" SPACE AROUND THE DUCT FOR FLASHING/COLLARS. M3.1 SHOWS THREE OF THE SIX; 20/12 HRV EXHAUST, 28/12 HRV SUPPLY, AND 22/22 EF- 3 EXHAUST. M3.2 SHOWS THE OTHER THREE OF SIX; 2 EACH 18/18 EF- 1/EF-2 EXHAUST AND 24/80 MAU S SUPPLY AIR. SILL HEIGHTS CAN BE ESTIMATED OFF OF DESIGNED DUCTWORK CENTERLINES FROM FIRST FLOOR FINISHED FLOOR ELEVATION AS FOLLOWS: - 20/12 HRV EXHAUST: 13 2 of 5

Item No. 14: Item No. 15: Item No. 16: Page A2.2 Public Works Mezzanine additional concrete housekeeping pads for mechanical equipment. Will the PEMB design be required to have additional point loads in some areas of the two mezzanine floors to accommodate the concrete housekeeping pads and mechanical equipment? If so, please provide all necessary information. THE LOADING OF THE PAD AND EQUIPMENT IS IN THE UNIFORM LOADING REQUIREMENT, NO ADDITIONAL LOADING REQUIRED. Page A4.2 Elevator Safety Beam. This specific beam will require two additional beams connecting between main frame rafters in order to be supported. If this elevator beam and any other structural members are to be provided by the PEMB Manufacturer opposed to the elevator contractor please provide the hoisting capacity and loading requirements for the specific elevator safety beam. THE GENERAL NEEDS TO SUPPLY YOU WITH REQUIREMENTS PER THE ELEVATOR MANUFACTURER THEY CHOOSE. SEE ENCLOSURE No. 5. A3.1 Exterior Finish Schedule - please clarify. A.) Upper Insulated Wall Panels to be Royal Blue B.) Lower Insulated Wall Panels to be Warm White C.) SR2 5 Insulated Metal Roof Panels to be Regal White D.) High eave & low eave soffit panels to match wall color in their respective locations E.) All fascia panels Royal Blue. UPPER INSULATED WALL PANELS TO BE WARM WHITE. LOWER INSULATED WALL PANELS TO BE ROYAL BLUE. INSULATED METAL ROOFING PANELS TO BE REGAL WHITE. SOFFIT AND LOW/HIGH EAVE PANELS TO BE WARM WHITE. Item No. 17: Item No. 18: Item No. 19: Is there a preference or a spec requirement for type of all interior PEMB columns, i.e. pipe, PEMB built-up, HSS. If not, we will assume most cost effectiveness. NO PREFERENCE. Spec 05510, paragraph 1.6.A.2 states Abrasive nosings. There are no abrasive nosings further specified or detailed in the drawings. Please confirm there are no stair abrasive nosings required, or clarify. PROVIDE ABRASIVE NOSING PER SPECIFICATION METAL STAIRS TO THE EXTERIOR AND PUBLIC WORKS AREA STAIRS AS DESIGNED. There is 2 asphalt indicated for the parking lot to the east of the building shown on sheet C8, and 3 asphalt at the north side of the building shown on sheet C5. The west side of the building asphalt thickness is not indicated. Please clarify the extent of 2 and 3 asphalt for the project. EAST AND WEST ENDS ARE 2 INCH FOR PASSENGER VEHICLES; NORTH SIDE IS 3 INCH FOR HEAVIER EQUIPMENT. Item No. 20: Sheet S2.3 note calls for 6 each 8 round bollards. The sheet count is actually 8 each. Additionally, the Architectural, sheet A2.1 sheet count for exterior bollards is 12 each, excluding the 6 on the north side of the building. Please clarify the quantity and size of exterior bollards, excluding the 14 each 6 bollards shown at the north side of the building. ARCHITECTURAL SHEET A2.1 IS CORRECT. (8) 3 of 5
4 8 ROUND AT BUILDING EXTERIOR CORNERS & EXTERIOR STAIR TOWER, PLUS (14) 6 ROUND AT ALL EXTERIOR O.H.D. s (NOTE THERE ARE MORE INSIDE OF BUILDING), PLUS ENSTAR REQUIRED BOLLARDS AT GAS METER (COORD. w/ ENSTAR), PLUS (2) AT GENERATOR PAD, PLUS CHUGACH ELECTRIC REQUIRED BOLLARDS FOR NEW TRANFORMER PAD (COORD. w/ CHUGACH ELEC). Item No. 21: Item No. 22: Item No. 23: Item No. 24: Item No. 25: Elevator shafts typically required tube steel for guide rail support. There is nothing indicated in the documents for guide rail support. Please provide elevator guide rail support tube steel size and anchoring requirements to the structure. SEE SPECIFICATION SECTION AND REFERENCE MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENTS. SEE ENCLOSURE No. 5 (RAIL FORCE & BRACKET SPACING). The traction elevator requires an elevator hoist beam. There is nothing indicated in the documents. Please provide the elevator hoist beam size and other steel requirements for the hoist beam and related structural supports. SAFETY BEAM SHOWN ON 2/A4.2. REFERENCE MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENTS. SEE ENCLOSURE No. 5 (SAFETY BEAM LOCATION & NOTE 4, SHEET 1). Can you please clarify the foundation waterproofing spec. Specification section paragraph 2.1 calls out various waterproofing manufactures. 2.2 calls out the products to be used. The 60 mil EPDM is not a product that is used for waterproofing foundations. This material is a roofing product. The Carlisle products used would be CCW 861 sheet waterproofing and the Grace product would be bituthene. SEE ENCLOSURE No. 3. Please provide loading requirements to the mezzanine floors where the stairs will attach to the 2 nd & 3 rd floor mezzanines. THE PEMB NEEDS TO DESIGN FOR 1.5KIP POINT LOADS AT EACH STAIR STRINGER CONNECTION. This may not make any difference overall Please Note: Spec Sec 07620, page # 3 references Occupancy Category ll. Whereas Spec Sec 13122, page # 2 references Occupancy lv Essential Facility. THE ENTIRE FACILITY IS OCCUPANCY IV ESSENTIAL FACILITY, SO USE THAT EVERYWHERE. Item No. 26: Please clarify what size stringers are required for the interior stair per sheet A4.3 and stairs 102 per sheet A4.2? FOR FRAMED STAIRS SHOWN ON A4.3 USE C12X30 SIMILAR TO EXTERIOR STAIR SHOWN IN STRUCTURAL. FOR METAL PAN STAIRS SHOWN ON A4.2 FABRICATE PER SPECIFICATION SECTION METAL STAIRS. THIS IS A PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION FOR THE METAL PAN STAIRS, FABRICATOR RESPONSIBLE TO ENGINEER THE STRINGERS PER THE LOADS AND SPANS. Item No. 27: Item No. 28: Item No. 29: Concealers asks for color to be selected by the architect. There is an extra cost for custom colors (per color set up charge) will these be a standard color sections such as white or chrome or, if they are custom colors, how many different colors should I assume? COLOR TO BE WHITE E&K notes that all walls are sleeved and this is not a standard sprinkler requirement please confirm that it is desired. I HAVE NO OBJECTION TO NOT PROVIDING SLEEVES AT WALLS ABOVE SUSPENDED CEILINGS (CONCEALED) AS LONG AS FIRE-STOPPING IS STILL PROVIDED AT REQUIRED RATED ASSEMBLY PENETRATIONS. Water flow information. I have been making calls to find this info but I have not 4 of 5
5 been able to obtain it as of yet. We need the static, residual, and gallons flowing for the nearest hydrant to use for bid purposes. SEE ENCLOSURE No. 4. Item No. 30: Item No. 31: Item No. 32: C. Will there be any additional off site staging provided by the City and, if so, how large will the area be and how far from the project site will it be? CITY OF WHITTIER HAS SECURED THE FOREST SERVICE LOT (LOT 2, BLOCK 2 CITY OF WHITTIER SUBDIVISION) TO THE EAST AS DISCUSSED IN THE PRE- CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE. Sheet C3 appears to show the asphalt paving extending around the building to the south, extending 10 from the building. Detail on C5 does not show the asphalt. Please confirm that asphalt paving is required at this area, and if it is the 2 or 3 asphalt. NO PAVEMENT DOWN THE SOUTH SIDE, LINE IS GRAVEL SHOULDER. The finish schedule calls for a 'Thoroshield sealer (urethane)'. I am not sure if they want a sealer or a urethane. If they want a urethane, I don't see anything spec'd that is specific to floors. Should I assume the floors get sealer of a urethane? PROVIDE APF s POLYURETHANE 250 PRODUCT WHEREVER S SEALED CONCRETE IS NOTED/DESIGNATED IN DRAWINGS AND/OR SPECIFICATIONS.
