Failure to do so may subject Bidder to disqualification. This Addendum forms a part of the Contract Documents and modifies them as follows: GENERAL: 1. Date for receipt of bids will be Wednesday, August 5, 2014 at 2pm. Bids will be received by Birmingham City Schools at the office of Edward McMullen, Director of Purchasing, 2015 Park Place North, room 202. CLARIFICATION: Please provide a design for the footings and anchor bolts associated with the PEMB canopy shown on page A-103A. The footing and anchor bolt design for the PEMB canopy shall be the responsibility of the PEMB canopy contractor as stated on drawing A-101A. Page A-103A, Detail A6, there is a triangular area noted to repair roof & metal deck. There is no mention of the light weight concrete poured on top of deck. Please provide a unit price with allowance for this work. We have no way to estimate the amount of metal deck or the light weight concrete to be remediated in this area. The Contractor should visit the site and determine the work required to repair the roof and roof deck. If the roof system includes a lightweight concrete deck, the contractor will be allowed to repair the lightweight concrete with an equivalent thickness of rigid insulation. 2 We find several removal bollards (3) detailed on page ALT B.1 in Mechanical RM 01 please provide detail and specification. Provide a 4 diameter 3 high AFF painted steel bollard set in an 8 diameter X 12 deep concrete footing. Make bollard sleeve 4 ½ diameter and 6 deep. Are the controls and fire alarm work to be issued in an allowance as done in the past proposals? Midsouth Controls contacted me requesting clarification. Addendum No.3 includes an allowance for the HVAC control work. The fire alarm work shall bid according to the drawings and specifications. In regards to the brick pilasters at the North and East elevations of the Maintenance building. Do the pilasters demo, I can t find anywhere on the drawings that indicates they stay or go? No, the existing brick pilasters shall remain. There is note on the site plan that says demo existing wall, clean brick and re-lay. Is this a typo, clean and relay brick, very expensive and messy!? Yes, the brick shall be re-used to construct the new screen wall as delineated on Drawing AS-003. Do you have a brick type kind color selected for the East and Northeast elevations at the Maintenance building? The new brick has been deleted from the scope of work in Addendum No. 3. In regards to the metal building, will interior center row columns be allowed, as long as the columns are within the painted stripe area? Yes, provided they meet all required codes. In regards to the metal siding can 26 gauge be substituted in lieu of 22ga, the siding is attaching to a structure and will only function as an aesthetic feature? The 22ga is out of the norm for any metal building we usually see. No With the low pitch roof, can galvalume roof be substituted for a Kynar finish? You want be able to the see the roof from the ground. Yes, the metal roof panels can be galvalume. Can G90 galvanization be substituted in lieu of G30, the G90 has a heavier galvanization and better corrosion performance? HA 1405 ADDENDUM NO. 3 PAGE 2 of 10

3 Yes; as long as there are no added cost to the scope of work. Plan page P-101B, please indicate the type air piping require. Steel Pipe, hot-dip zinc coated (ASTM A 53/A 53M, Type E or S, Grade B) with threaded ends. Provide with threaded steel nipples, malleable-iron fittings and unions, and steel flanges. PROJECT MANUAL: Specifications Birmingham City Schools MBE / DBE Procedures BCIA Forms C and D shall be submitted by each Bidder no later than 24 hours after the bid deadline. Section Allowances 1. Add ALLOWANCE NO. 4 HVAC Controls: Include allowances to furnish and install all HVAC Controls for the project as follows: a. Base Bid - $90,000 b. Alternate No. 1 - $25,000 c. Alternate No. 2 - $25,000 d. Alternate No. 3 - $10, Add ALLOWANCE NO. 5 Landscaping: Include a $10,000 allowance to furnish and install all topsoil, grassing and plant material for the project. DRAWINGS: Architectural: 1. Drawing AD-001 Delete the requirement to remove the existing asphalt paving. All existing asphalt paving shall remain, except where required to install the new sidewalks at Building A, and as necessary to install underground raceways for the site electrical work and the foundations for the pre-engineered metal building in the Maintenance Yard. 2. Drawing AD-02 Contrary to information provided in Addendum No. 1, the work associated with the new window openings shown in the Alternates areas should be included in the respective Alternate and not the Base Bid. 3. Drawing AD-02 Delete the requirements to remove the existing fascia, gravel guard, gutters and downspouts on Building B. All existing fasciae, gravel guards, gutters and downspouts shall remain on Building B. 4. Drawing AS-003 All existing asphalt paving shall remain, except where required to install the new sidewalks at Building A, and as necessary to install underground raceways for the site electrical work and the foundations for the pre-engineered metal building in the Maintenance Yard. All existing asphalt paving shall be seal-coated. 5. Drawing AS-003 The landscaped islands have been eliminated since all of the existing asphalt paving shall remain, except as noted above. The areas shown as landscaped islands shall sealcoated and delineated with new paint striping in the same configuration shown on the drawing. HA 1405 ADDENDUM NO. 3 PAGE 3 of 10

4 6. Drawing AS-003 Delete the concrete plaza sidewalk. The existing asphalt paving shall remain and be seal coated. 7. Drawing AS-003 Repair the existing asphalt paving as necessary to install the new sidewalks at Building A, the underground raceways for the site electrical work, the foundations for the preengineered metal building in the Maintenance Yard, and where the existing brick screen wall has been removed in accordance with Note 2 on Drawing AD-002. The areas of asphalt paving that are patched shall be seal-coated along with the existing asphalt paving to remain. 8. Drawing AS-003 Delete the requirement to apply elastomeric coating to the new and existing brick screen wall. 9. Drawing AS-003 Install a fabric fence screen on the existing chain link fence along 65 th Street North. The fabric fence screen shall be black and the full fence height. 10. Drawing A-101A Delete the Type 5 partition on the existing CMU wall which separates the existing Shop from Corridor A.1, Bus Driver Waiting, Transportation Parts and Maintenance Parts. The existing CMU partition shall be painted. 11. Drawing A-101A Delete the Type 1 partition on the existing CMU exterior wall at Maintenance Parts, Secure Storage 02 and the Locksmith Room. The existing CMU partition shall be painted. 12. Drawing A-101A Change the Type 6 partitions at Director s Office 01, OFC Man 02, OFC Man 01 and Video Surveillance to Type 7 partitions. 13. Drawing A-101A Delete a portion of the new concrete sidewalk (76 long by 8 wide) and landscaped area at the entrance to the Maintenance and Transportation Building. The existing asphalt paving shall remain in these areas, but not be seal coated. 14. Drawing A-101A Change the length of the base cabinets in Bus Driver Waiting as noted on the changes to Elevation C2 on Drawing A-401-B as noted below. 15. Drawing A-101A Delete the new concrete filled steel bollards in the existing Shop adjacent to Door Opening Nos. 18 and 19, and the new coiling shutter. Also delete the new concrete filled steel bollards adjacent to the new aluminum canopy column. 16. Drawing A-101A Delete the note and dashed line that references new gypsum board soffit above (typical) in the Bus Driver Waiting. 17. Drawing A-102A Delete the acoustical ceilings in Lobby 01, Corridor A, Corridor A.1, Locksmith Room and Secure Storage 02. These rooms shall have the existing exposed structure. 18. Drawing A-102A Delete the gypsum board soffits and acoustical ceiling in Bus Driver Waiting. This room shall have the existing exposed structure. 19. Drawing A-102A Delete the drywall ceilings above the Door Openings 03A and 03B in Corridor A. 20. Drawing A-102A Delete Details B1 and D1 which will not be utilized on the project. 5 21. Drawing A-103A Detail A1 Maintenance Yard Roof Plan Delete the translucent roof panels (RFP). The roof shall be comprised of metal panels entirely. 22. Drawing A-103A Change the specifications for the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Canopy as follows: a. Note 14 The building frame may utilize tapered columns rather than 18 deep straight columns; however, a minimum overhead clearance of 16 must be maintained at the column /beam connections. b. Note 15 Change the roof panels from 24 gauge to 26 gauge. Change to roof panel finish from Kynar 500 to Galvalume. Delete the translucent roof panels. 23. Drawing A-103A Delete Detail A8 Maintenance Coping at Brick/Fiber Cement Panels in its entirety. The existing fascia/canopy shall remain as currently constructed and no modifications will be made to the existing roofing. 24. Drawing A-103A Delete Details D6, D8 and F8 which will not be utilized on the project. 25. Drawing A-101B Delete Detail A2 Plaza Detail in its entirety. The existing asphalt paving shall remain in this area and be seal-coated. 26. Drawing A-101B Delete Door Opening No. 32. The existing door, door frame and hardware shall remain. 27. Drawing A-101B Delete all modifications to the existing exterior wall, except the installation of the new Type A1 windows and the modifications to the existing storefront as described below. The existing exterior walls shall remain as constructed; however, all existing exterior wall surfaces shall receive elastomeric coating. 28. Drawing A-101B There is a combination of existing storefront and existing masonry wall between Door Opening No. 23 and the northeast corner of Director s Office 01. The existing storefront shall remain, except as follows: a. There is a pair of storefront doors and an existing exterior canopy located on the exterior wall that is within the Director s Office 01. Remove the exterior doors, the transom above the doors and the exterior canopy at this location. Install new storefront and glass to match the existing storefront and glass in the adjacent openings. b. There is an existing storefront door and exterior canopy located where Door Opening No. 23 is shown on the drawings. This existing storefront and exterior canopy shall remain. c. There is a section of exterior wall adjacent to where Door Opening No. 23 is located that has storefront on the exterior and CMU on the interior. This opening should be modified to match the existing adjacent opening on the opposite side. d. The new Type B window opening on the existing exterior wall at Open Office A shall be deleted. The existing and modified storefront openings in this location will provide natural light for the Open Office area. 29. Drawing A-101B Delete the plastic laminate countertops and gypsum board support partitions in Maintenance Station, Supply Staging and Instructional Broadcasting (IBS). 6 30. Drawing A-10B Delete the base cabinet in Conference Drawing A-101B Delete all new work at Door Opening Nos. 01, 02, 03 and 04. The existing doors, door frames and finish hardware shall remain at these door openings. 32. Drawing A-101B All work associated with the Dust Collector System shall be deleted from the Base Bid and included as Alternate No. 4. This includes the concrete pad for the dust collector equipment, wall penetrations and associated fire sprinkler and electrical work. 33. Drawing A-102B Delete the gypsum board ceiling in Carpentry Shop. This room shall have the existing exposed structure. 34. Drawing A102B Change the gypsum board ceilings in Corridor B.3 and Corridor B.4 to acoustical ceiling. 35. Drawing A-102B Delete the acoustical tile ceiling in Storage 11 and Storage 12. These rooms shall have the existing exposed structure. 36. Drawing A-201B Generally, the work on the exterior of the building shall remain as constructed and be limited to installation of new windows in the existing exterior wall and application of elastomeric coating to all existing masonry walls. Accordingly, the building elevations shall be modified as follows: a. Elevation A8 Delete the metal wall panels and associated work. All existing walls to be prepped and receive elastomeric coating. The existing gutters, downspouts, gravel guards shall remain, but be cleaned and painted. The new window opening and aluminum canopies shall be included in Alternate pricing. b. Elevation B8 Delete the metal wall panels and associated work. All existing walls to be prepped and receive elastomeric coating. The existing gutters, downspouts, gravel guards shall remain, but be cleaned and painted. The new window openings shall be in the Alternate pricing. c. Elevation C8 Delete the fiber cement panels, the face brick and all associated work. All existing walls to be prepped and receive elastomeric coating. The existing canopy, fascia, gutters, downspouts, gravel guards shall remain, but be cleaned and painted. The existing storefront and storefront door shall remain. d. Elevation D8 Delete the fiber cement panels, the face brick and all associated work. All existing walls to be prepped and receive elastomeric coating. The existing canopy, fascia, gutters, downspouts, gravel guards shall remain, but be cleaned and painted. New Type A1 windows shall be installed in the existing wall, but the new construction which projects out from the existing masonry exterior wall shall be deleted. Repair opening in existing exterior wall where the ATM was removed and apply elastomeric coating. e. Elevation D1 Delete the fiber cement panels and all associated work. All existing walls to be prepped and receive elastomeric coating. The existing canopy, fascia, gutters, downspouts, gravel guards shall remain, but be cleaned and painted. f. Elevation E2 All existing walls to be prepped and receive elastomeric coating. The existing gutters, downspouts, gravel guards shall remain, but be cleaned and painted. 7 g. Elevation E8 Delete the metal wall panels and associated work. All existing walls to be prepped and receive elastomeric coating. The existing gutters, downspouts, gravel guards shall remain, but be cleaned and painted. The existing storefront door beneath the existing canopy to remain shall remain rather than be replaced with a new door. 37. Drawing A-301B Delete all sections and details on this drawing, except the window sill detail at Section A3 and Detail E8. The openings in the existing masonry walls for the new windows shall be constructed in accordance with the Structural Drawings. 38. Drawing A-302B Delete all sections and details on this drawing. The openings in the existing masonry walls for the new windows shall be constructed in accordance with the Structural Drawings. 39. Drawing A-303B Delete all sections and details on this drawing, except Section A6, Detail E6 and Detail E8. The openings in the existing masonry walls for the new windows shall be constructed in accordance with the Structural Drawings. 40. Drawing A-401B The following changes shall be made to the sections and details on this drawing: a. Elevation B2 Delete all work associated with this elevation. b. Elevation B3 Delete all work associated with this elevation. c. Elevation C2 The total length of the base cabinet shall be 9 long. Delete the trash can bin. 41. Drawing A-401B Detail D2 The operation of the coiling counter fire door shall be manual; however, the coiling counter fire door shall be connected to the fire alarm system to automatically close the door upon activation of the fire alarm. 42. Drawing A-601 Door Schedule: Building B Delete all work associated with Door Opening Nos. 01, 02, 03, 04, 23 and Drawing A-601 Entry System Schedule Exterior ALUMINUM Storefront Window Opening B has been deleted at Building B. Window Elevation B occurs at two locations in Building A, but the window is 8 wide rather than 14 wide. 44. Door Schedule: Building B Delete all work associated with Door Opening Nos. 01, 02, 03, 04, 23 and Drawing A-601 Make the following changes to Room Finish Schedule Specifications, Notes and Submittal Requirements: a. Change VCT-1 and VCT-2 to 12 x 12 rather than 12 x 24. b. Delete WC Drawing A-601 Make the following changes to Room Finish Schedule Transportation Building A Base Bid: a. Lobby 01 Change ceiling finish from acoustical tile to exposed structure. b. Corridor A Change ceiling finish from acoustical tile to exposed structure. c. Corridor B.3 Change the wall finishes from WC-1 to PT-1, and change the ceiling finish from acoustical tile and painted gypsum board to acoustical tile only. b. Corridor B.4 Change the wall finishes from WC-1 to PT-1, and change the ceiling finish from acoustical tile and painted gypsum board to acoustical tile only. c. Storage 11 Change the ceiling finish from acoustical tile to exposed structure. d. Storage 12 Change the ceiling finish from acoustical tile to exposed structure. Structural: 1. Drawing S-101 Delete the Lintel Detail at East Exterior Wall at Building B as this work has been deleted from the project. 2. Drawing S-501 Delete this drawing in its entirety. Plumbing: 1. Drawing P-101B Delete the new CMVB-1 in Conference Room identified as 07 on this drawing and 01 on Drawing A101B. Mechanical 1. Drawing M-201A The acoustical ceiling is being deleted in Lobby 01, Corridor A, Corridor A.1, Bus Driver Waiting, Lock Smith Room and Secure Storage 02. These rooms shall have exposed structure above; therefore, the scope of work shall be modified as follows: a. Delete the 8 and 10 diameter branch ducts and associated supply diffusers in the supply ductwork. b. Provide Type SG supply grilles in the side of the supply ductwork at the locations where the branch ducts were located. The Type SG grilles shall be sized to provide the equivalent amount of air as the deleted branch ducts. 2. Drawing M-201B The drywall ceiling is being deleted in Carpentry Shop. This room shall have exposed structure above; therefore, the scope of work shall be modified as follows: a. Delete the 10 diameter branch ducts and associated supply diffusers in the supply ductwork. b. Provide Type SG supply grilles in the side of the supply ductwork at the locations where the branch ducts were located. 9 Fire Protection: 1. Drawing FP-101B The dust collector system and all associated work shall be deleted from the Base Bid and included as Alternate No. 4. Electrical: 1. Drawing E-102 Delete weatherproof receptacles at all planters, including all conduit, wiring and connections to existing electrical panels. 2. Drawing E-301 A.1 The following changes shall be made to the lighting plan: a. Lobby 01 Change 2x4 light fixtures to strip fluorescent type light fixtures. Provide emergency and night light fixtures where shown. Electrical Contractor ( EC ) shall be responsible for providing the number of light fixtures in a configuration required to provide equal or greater illumination. b. Corridor A Change 2x4 light fixtures to strip fluorescent type light fixtures. Provide emergency and night light fixtures where shown. EC shall be responsible for providing the number of light fixtures in a configuration required to provide equal or greater illumination. Delete the Type R4 light fixtures. c. Corridor A.1 Change 2x4 light fixtures to strip fluorescent type light fixtures. Provide emergency and night light fixtures where shown. EC shall be responsible for providing the number of light fixtures in a configuration required to provide equal or greater illumination. d. Bus Driver Waiting Change 2x4 light fixtures to strip fluorescent type light fixtures. Provide emergency and night light fixtures where shown. EC shall be responsible for providing the number of light fixtures in a configuration required to provide equal or greater illumination. Delete the Type R4 light fixtures. e. Lock Smith Room Change 2x4 light fixtures to strip fluorescent type light fixtures. Provide emergency and night light fixtures where shown. Secure Storage 02 Change 1x4 light fixtures to strip fluorescent type light fixtures. EC shall be responsible for providing the number of light fixtures in a configuration required to provide equal or greater illumination. 3. Drawing E-301 A.2 Delete all work associated with Notes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and Drawing E-301 A.2 Delete two of the wall outlets in the Coffee Area. 5. Drawing E-301 A.2 Delete one of the wall outlets in Storage Drawing E-301 B.1 The following changes shall be made to the lighting plan: a. Storage 11 Change 2x4 light fixture to strip fluorescent type light fixture.
