2 Additions and Renovations to Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish Center and Narthex 9/16/14 Outline Design Development Specification Division 1 Division 2 Division 3 Construction Type Type III B, Not suppressed, for all building areas. Temporary Facilities Project requirements include but are not limited to temporary site sign, directional signs, common use temporary modular facility for meetings; temporary electric service from public utilities for common use and contractor temporary facility temporary enclosure of building; temporary heating and dehumidification equipment as necessary. Provide temporary 6 high chain link fence enclosure with gates for secure enclosure of contractor staging area. Provide temporary 6 high chain link fence construction limit area surrounding proposed building and surrounding site. Provide all temporary components necessary to maintain the functionality of the nave for the entire project. Any deviation shall be pre-arranged with the owner. Project completion shall be phased so that the parish office area will be operational and occupiable prior to the completion of the Narthex expansion. Components of the existing structures to remain shall be protected. Selective Demolition Project includes removal of existing exterior windows, exterior and interior masonry walls, stud wall partitions and interior finishes, and removal of existing slab on grade. Removal of existing equipment including but not limited to: plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, piping (above and below grade), and HVAC equipment. Cast In Place Concrete In general, the construction consists of concrete footings, slab on grade and concrete slab on composite deck. There will be exterior concrete ramps, sidewalk and curbs. Concrete mixes will be selected for strength durability and economy. Division 4 Unit Masonry Unit masonry products shall consist of Decorative CMU veneer and single Wythe construction. Standard and fire resistive concrete masonry units will be utilized for some interior walls. The wall construction types shall include cavity walls at new building area. Exterior walls will be masonry load bearing and non-load bearing. Special types of masonry units shall consist of bullnose corners, and polished marble or granite for the memorial garden. Lime stone will be utilized for wall caps, sills and the date stone box. Masonry cavity wall construction will include composite copper/laminated flashing, stainless steel counter flashing, and color matched cellular weeps. Page 1
3 Additions and Renovations to Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish Center and Narthex 9/16/14 Outline Design Development Specification Division 5 Division 6 Division 7 Structural Steel Structural steel shall consist of wide flange beams, structural steel trusses, bar joists (including long span joist trusses) and decking; wide flange, tube and pipe columns. Steel roof deck shall be used. Floor decking will be utilized in composite construction. Metal Fabrication Metal fabrication shall consist of loose lintels, steel stairs, handrails, guardrails and ladders. Existing stairs will be removed and replaced to conform to current code requirements. Galvanized steel exterior steps and ramp with high performance paint. Metal deck and concrete on galvanized steel structure at main exterior stair and ramp. Carpentry Rough carpentry will include blocking and nailers. Window sills/stools will be solid surface material. Millwork will include reception desk located in office area and Narthex welcome center. All millwork will be maple vertical surfaces, plastic laminate with solid wood edge work height countertops and solid surface high transaction countertops. Reinforcing of existing glulam arches to support new snow loads created by the Narthex addition may be necessary. T&G ceiling will be utilized in the Cupola ceiling. Glu-laminated exterior trusses will be utilized to support the exterior entrance canopies. Fire retardant plywood will be used for over framing of existing roofing areas. Fluid-Applied Membrane and Barriers Air barriers act as a drainage plain for directing water infiltration into the cavity to the exterior. They are spray-applied to the cavity face of the back-up CMU or sheathing construction. Building Insulation Building insulation types include: rigid, and batt. Rigid type insulation shall consist of extruded polystyrene board primarily at exterior cavity walls, exterior foundation walls and slabs. Polyisocyanurate will be used at the flat roofs. Vented nail based polystyrene panels will be used at the new sloped roofs. Batt insulation shall include thermal fiberglass batts at concealed locations. Sound batt insulation will be used at typical GWB/stud interior partitions and ceilings in the offices and meeting rooms to contain sound. Fire Proofing, Fire Stopping and Smoke Stopping Fire stopping and smoke stopping shall consist of fire resistant caulking, batting, blocking at fire rated walls and floor assemblies. Page 2
4 Division 8 Additions and Renovations to Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish Center and Narthex 9/16/14 Outline Design Development Specification Roofing Flat roof areas will be a 30 year EPDM membrane roofing system over rigid tapered insulation. The membrane shall be fully adhered to rigid insulation board, which will be sloped and/or tapered at some areas to provide positive drainage. Existing roof areas adjacent to construction will need to comply with existing roof warranty for tie in. Sloped roofs will be asphalt singles on 30 lb. roof felt and vented nail based insulation. Ice and water shield will be used at all peaks, valleys, and eaves. The Cupola roof will use standing seam metal roofing over vented nail based insulation. Ice and water shield will be used over the entirety of the standing seamed roof. Flashing and Sheet Metal Sheet metal fabrication shall consist of break formed fascias with fluoropolymer finishes at vertical planes for smaller areas. Formed gutters, scuppers, and downspouts will be used in existing A composite panel consisting of aluminum sheet fluoropolymer finish and plastic core shall be used at vertical plane changes for larger areas. Stainless steel counterflashing will be utilized at roof to wall terminations of the roofing membrane. Roof Specialties Manufactured metal expansion joints with flexible bellows shall be used. Manufactured coping with fluoropolymer finish will also be used. Expansion Joint Cover Assemblies Metal expansion joint cover assemblies with flexible seal inserts and fire barriers shall be used at interior floor, wall and ceilings. Joint Sealers In general, exterior joint sealers shall be multi-part Polyurethane with some use of silicone metal work and non-curing butyl at concealed locations. Steel Door Frames Interior door frames shall be formed of min. 16 gauge steel. All frames are to be welded and painted. Door frames separating the parish center from the Narthex shall be rated for both new and existing openings. Aluminum Doors and Frames In general, aluminum doors and frames shall be wide stiles and rail type with fluoropolymer finish. They shall be installed in both single openings and aluminum store front type systems. All sections shall be a minimum of 1/8 inch thick, door thickness shall be 1-3/4 inches. Wood Doors Wood doors (Maple) shall be solid core, flush, with hardwood veneer faces. The wood doors shall be factory finished, some with lite kits, and installed in painted steel door frames. Doors separating the parish center from the Narthex shall be 1 ½ hour rated for both new and existing openings. Door Hardware In general, all door hardware shall be ADA compliant and durable. All hardware will be brushed metal finished. Aluminum Storefront Thermally broken, extruded, fluoropolymer aluminum similar to the Kawneer "Encore" system shall be used. This framing system shall receive both fixed and operable glazing. Aluminum Windows Fluoropolymer finish, thermally broken, minimum 2 inches deep, both fixed and projected operable, all with insulation glass. All units shall be individually glazed with snap-in glazing beads. Glass Clear standard glass (i.e., plate, insulating, tempered, etc.) and glazing systems on most window areas. Exterior insulated glass will be low-e coated for energy efficiency. Clear laminated glass will be used at entry areas with heat strengthened glass. Gypsum Board Systems Impact resistant gypsum board construction over steel studs shall be used for interior partitions. Some of these partitions may be rated construction. Moisture resistant gypsum board shall be used in wet areas such as Toilet Rooms. Impact resistant gypsum board shall be used in corridors. Tile Porcelain paver tile in the Narthex and bathrooms adjacent to narthex; 12 x 24 size. Porcelain tile base will be used throughout the Narthex 6 x 12 size. Ceramic mosaic floor tile system in office toilet room. Glazed ceramic tile walls in all bathrooms, 5-0 H wainscot typical, full height tile on toilet fixture wall. Acoustical Ceilings Suspended acoustical panel ceilings such as Armstrong Second Look shall be used. Water and vandal resistant panels will be used in Toilet Rooms. Resilient Flooring/Carpet Premium vinyl composite tile flooring, rubber base and accessories shall be used in the office corridors, storage, kitchenette and lounge. Carpeting that is of the anti-static nylon variety with antimicrobial treatment shall be installed with rubber base in offices, multipurpose and conference spaces as well as cry room. Single piece rubber thread and riser for all utilitarian stairs. Page 4

Painting High durability painting systems shall be used throughout for walls, ceilings and trim. Acrylic enamel systems shall be used in offices, water based epoxy systems shall be used elsewhere. Division 10 Toilet Partitions Standard solid plastic overhead braced toilet partitions shall be used. Signs Cast aluminum letters will be mounted to the site wall. room names. ADA compliant panel signs will identify Division 11 Fire Extinguishers Multipurpose dry chemical type extinguishers will be provided typically. Toilet Accessories Durable stainless steel components will be used. Electric hand driers to be provided in gang toilet rooms. Grab bars, toilet paper dispensers, a baby changing station, and soap dispensers will complete toilet accessories. Residential Appliances Appliances will be by owner as required. Division 12 Institutional Casework Stevens 1200 traditional series is the basis of design. Located in Work room, Kitchenette & Robing sacristy. Division 22 Page 5
7 Additions and Renovations to Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish Center and Narthex 9/16/14 Outline Design Development Specification There is limited areas of demolition required. The existing building is currently serviced by a 3/4 domestic water service, this is inadequate for the new fixture loads so a new 2-inch water service shall be extended to the new Mechanical Room. A new gas fired hot water heater shall be installed in the new Mechanical Room with distribution piping out to all new plumbing fixtures. All hot water piping shall be recirculated. The existing building is served by 4-inch and 5-inch sanitary laterals. All new plumbing fixtures will be piped and connections made to existing piping systems. Saw cutting and patching of existing floors is required to install new underground piping systems. The new addition will have internal roof drainage. These drains will be collected and piped below floor slab with new storm water laterals extended outside the building. The existing building has natural gas. The existing system will be reworked / extended and new gas connections made to all new and existing gas fired equipment. New plumbing fixtures will be provided as indicated on the plans. All new toilets and urinals shall be the flush valve style. All new lavatories shall have metering faucets with ASSE 1060 approved mixing valves installed. All large toilet rooms shall have floor drains installed centered in the room. The new addition shall have non-freeze hydrants provided. ADA accessible plumbing fixtures shall be provided as required. Division 23 Demolition The existing HVAC units serving the Nave, Narthex, and the original building will be removed. Portions of the ductwork for the Nave will be removed. All Narthex HVAC items will be removed. In the original building, systems serving the office potion will be removed including ductwork and hot water radiation. New Systems New packaged HVAC units to serve the Nave with gas heat will be provided in the enclosure walls being provided. Supply ductwork will be connected to the existing ductwork in the soffits. Return grilles will be provided in the organ speaker rooms. The Cry Room and Narthex will be served by packaged rooftop units with gas heat including ductwork, diffusers, and registers. Units will be located on the flat roof above the Cry Room. The Parish Offices, Multipurpose Room, and Kitchenette/Lounge areas will be served by split system air conditioning units with gas furnaces and condensing units located outdoors on grade. Page 6

Exhaust systems will be provided for the toilet rooms. Hot water cabinet heaters will be provided in the vestibules, and hot water convectors will be provided in the toilet rooms. Division 31 Division 33 Earthwork There will be a limited disturbance area that will need to be repaired. Foundation Drainage System Perimeter drains will be installed at foundations as necessary. Underground utilities will need to be rerouted out of the existing Narthex area. Tie all new and existing utilities to existing. Page 7
