This is not surprising given the fact that a BIM contains considerable relevant information about geometry, the building fabric and technical installations. The Bill of Materials extracted from the BIM can be re-used to smooth the transition from the construction phase to the building operation and maintenance phases. Planon Connect for BIM is a unique solution that provides a bidirectional data exchange between a BIM and the Planon Universe platform to ensure consistent and relevant re-use of information for building operations, including processes such as maintenance management, space management, portfolio management and contract management. The bidirectional and periodical exchange of data and models ensures the consistent use of BIM information in Planon Universe and keeps the BIM up-to-date regarding data changes from building operations and maintenance. This allows organisations to: Eliminate the traditional information loss between the construction and operational phase. Ensure fast and structured commissioning of a new or renovated building. Utilise the strengths of both the BIM and Planon Universe optimally. Maximise the effective use of the BIM during the full lifecycle of a building. PREPARE THE MODEL IN REVIT In the BIM, all the data is specifically structured and coded for the design and construction process. These structures differ from the needs of a facility manager during the operational phase of the building. In order to use the BIM as effectively as possible for facilities, it needs to be prepared for the maintenance and operating phase. We call this the model preparation. BI-DIRECTIONAL DATA EXCHANGE BASED ON COBIELITE Once the data in the BIM has been prepared for effective use in Planon Universe, the data can be exchanged. This exchange is based on the industry standard COBieLite a structured XML-based file format. Planon Connect for BIM includes standard import and export functions for COBieLite to transfer data between the BIM and Planon Universe. This bidirectional data exchange allows organisations to: Map fields in the BIM dynamically to comply with the standard COBieLite format. Transfer the (3D) BIM geometry to (2D) CAD drawing files for viewing purposes in Planon Universe. Exchange data changes in Planon Universe, such as replacements or renewals of assets, back to the BIM. Exchange codes and standards from Planon Universe to the BIM for model preparation. Utilise assets from the BIM model in Planon Universe to register and locate these assets, plan and operate their maintenance, manage contracts, costs and budgets. Generate long-term maintenance plans based on imported Bill of Materials from the BIM that are linked to standardised maintenance libraries in Planon Universe. Contract the planned work or reactive maintenance relating to assets, analyse asset failures and performance, ensure regulatory compliance and perform condition assessments. View CAD drawing files from the BIM in Planon Universe for space or asset visualisations, mappings and analyses, and make these files available for Planon Self-Service, Planon Apps or Planon Kiosk Solutions.
