Description IPEX Inc. s BIONAX is a biaxially oriented Cast Iron Outside Diameter ( CIOD ) Gasketed PVCO ( Oriented Polyvinylchloride ) Pressure Pipe (the PVCO Pressure Pipe ). The PVCO Pressure Pipe utilizes processes in the plastics industry to biaxally orient molecules and produce a pipe that is lightweight and strong. When the PVCO material is stretched at a highly controlled temperature and strain rate, the material strength increases as the molecules re-orient in the direction of the force applied. The PVCO Pressure Pipe is colour coded blue and comes in sizes of 100 mm (4 ), 150 mm (6 ), 200 mm (8 ), 250 mm (10 ) and 300 mm (12 ) and in 6.1 m (20-0 ) lengths. The PVCO Pressure Pipe, in accordance with NSF/ANSI 61 Drinking Water System Components, CSA B Molecularly Oriented Polyvinylchloride (PVCO) Pipe for Pressure Applications, and ANSI/AWWA C Molecularly Oriented Polyvinyl Chloride (PVCO) Pressure Pipe, 4 In. Through 24 In. (100 mm Through 600 mm) for Water, Wastewater, and Reclaimed Water Service, may be used in underground pressure supply and in underground pressure drainage systems, in new and retrofit construction in all buildings and of all occupancies. Authorization Requested by the Applicant The Applicant sought a Building Materials Evaluation Commission (the ABMEC@) Authorization for the use of the PVCO Pressure Pipe as an equivalent to Polyvinylchloride ( PVC ) pipe when used in lieu of underground pressure supply (potable and non potable) as referenced in Sentence (1) of Division B, of the Building Code; and as an equivalent to PVC pipe when used in lieu of underground pressure drainage (drainage system, sanitary drainage system or storm drainage system) systems, as referenced in Sentence (1) of Division B, of the Building Code. 5. Assessment Reports and assessments provided by the Applicant show that if the PVCO Pressure Pipe when designed, installed, constructed, and tested in accordance with the limitations in the manufacturer's instructions, and the specific terms and conditions stated in this Authorization, the level of performance required by the Building Code will be provided. Region of Peel, Materials Review Committee, dated August 31, Authorization This Authorization is for the PVCO Pressure Pipe as an equivalent to PVC pipe when used in underground pressure supply (potable and non potable) systems, as referenced in Sentence (1) of Division B, of the Building Code; as an equivalent to PVC pipe when used in underground pressure drainage (drainage system, sanitary drainage system or storm drainage system) systems, as referenced in Sentence (1) of Division B, of the Building Code; All other requirements pertaining to the design, installation, construction, and testing are subject to the requirements of the Building Code, and are subject to the following terms and conditions contained in 6A. and 6B. below: Page 3 of 6

4 A. Specific Terms & Conditions 1. This Authorization expires on January 26, 2017; 2. This Authorization is valid only for IPEX Inc. manufactured PVCO Pressure Pipe; 3. The PVCO Pressure Pipe shall only be used in underground pressure supply (potable and non potable), and in underground pressure drainage (drainage system, sanitary drainage system or storm drainage system) systems; 4. The PVCO Pressure Pipe is only authorized for use in underground applications; 5. The PVCO Pressure Pipe, colour coded blue, is authorized for use in the following sizes: 100mm (4 ), 150mm (6 ), 200mm (8 ), 250mm (10 ), and 300mm (12 ); 6. IPEX Inc. shall maintain PVCO Pressure Pipe certification/listings in accordance with: a. Certification - CSA B Standard Molecularly Oriented Polyvinylchloride (PVCO) Pipe for Pressure Applications, b. Listing - NSF/ANSI 61 Drinking Water System Components, CSA B Molecularly Oriented Polyvinylchloride (PVCO) Pipe for Pressure Applications, and c. Listing - ANSI/AWWA C Molecularly Oriented Polyvinyl Chloride (PVCO) Pressure Pipe, 4 In Through 24 In (100 mm Through 600 mm) for Water, Wastewater, and Reclaimed Water Service ; 7. The PVCO Pressure Pipe shall be labelled in accordance with CSA B Standard Molecularly Oriented Polyvinylchloride (PVCO) Pipe for Pressure Applications ; 8. The PVCO Pressure Pipe shall not be used in a hot water system; 9. Solvent cements shall not be used with the PVCO Pressure Pipe; 10. PVCO Pressure Pipe shall be saddled when tapped, and PVCO Pressure Pipe shall not be directly tapped, 11. Non-toxic, water-soluble, NSF-listed lubricants shall be used with PVCO Pressure Pipe; 12. IPEX Inc. staff shall be available to the Principal Authority, on request, to provide technical support and guidance; and 13. The PVCO Pressure Pipe shall be designed, installed, and tested in accordance with: Page 4 of 6

5 a. Part 7 Plumbing of Division B of the Building Code, b. CSA B Standard Molecularly Oriented Polyvinylchloride (PVCO) Pipe for Pressure Applications, including Annex A; except that Section A.4.3. Supports of Annex A shall not apply to this Authorization, and c. Manual, IPEX, Installation Guide: Municipal Systems, version 2010 IPEX MN0031UC. In the event where there is a conflict between provisions, the most restrictive requirement shall prevail. B. General Conditions 1. The use of the PVCO Pressure Pipe used in the construction of a plumbing system as described in Section 3. and the Specific Terms and Conditions set out in Section 6.A must comply with: (a) (b) (c) the Building Code Act, 1992, (the Act ) as amended or re-enacted, except as specifically authorized herein, the Building Code as amended or remade, and all other applicable legislation. 2. A copy of this Authorization shall accompany each application for a building permit and shall be maintained on the site of the construction with the building permit. 3. The Applicant specified in Section 1. shall promptly notify the BMEC of: (a) (b) the failure of the Applicant to comply with any of the Specific Terms and Conditions set out in Section 6.A, the failure of the material, system or building design that is the subject matter of this Authorization to (i) (ii) comply with any of the Specific Terms and Conditions set out in Section 6.A, or provide a satisfactory level of performance in situ, or (c) The occurrence of any of the events described in General Conditions 6.B.4.(a), (b), (e) or (f). 4. The BMEC may amend or revoke this Authorization at any time on its own initiative, or at the request of the Applicant specified in Section 1. without restricting the foregoing, the BMEC may amend or revoke this Authorization where it determines that: Page 5 of 6

6 (a) any change has been made to: (i) the name of the Applicant specified in Section 1, (ii) the address or other contact name information of the Applicant specified in Section 1, (iii) the ownership of the Applicant specified in Section 2, (iv) the manufacturing facilities specified in Section 2, (v) (vi) the material, system, or building design that is the subject matter of this Authorization, or a test method relevant to this Authorization, (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) the Applicant has failed to comply with any of the terms and conditions set out in this Authorization, in the opinion of the BMEC, the use of the material, system or building design authorized herein provides an unsatisfactory level of performance in situ, in the opinion of the BMEC, amendment or revocation of the Authorization is appropriate on the basis of potential danger to public health and safety, the Act or Building Code has been amended, re-enacted or remade in a manner relevant to this Authorization, this Authorization was issued on mistaken, false or incorrect information, or a revision of an editorial nature is appropriate.
