2 Description Home Wood lies on the boundary of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park near Western Cleddau estuary. It fronts a minor county road a mile south of the A40, and is about 10 minutes east of Haverfordwest. The entire wood is almost level with a slight southerly aspect. Access is excellent with a minor county road running the length of the northwest edge. Off this there are two accesses into the property - one is a small timber extraction point towards the southwest corner, and the other (near the north end) is a gated area of hard-standing which provides a useful timber stacking and processing area. hardwoods is ready for re-spacing to release the best stems and some of the older trees (especially on the east side) could be thinned to produce firewood for the hearth or camp fire. The near-level terrain and stacking areas will facilitate harvesting and general management on this easily managed site. These same facets, along with private parking, easy access and tranquillity will also appeal to those seeking woodland for quiet recreation. The varied canopy will attract a range of woodland birds. When we visited in November we saw dunnock, robins, wrens and a buzzard circling overhead. We were also pleased to stumble upon four woodcock. The current owner felled the central part of the wood about ten years ago, removing a well-grown stand of Douglas fir. The site was left to regenerate naturally and now supports a vigorous young crop of mixed hardwoods (height up to about 7 metres) dominated by ash along with some sycamore. There are also minor elements of willow, birch, beech and the occasional conifer along with a smattering of native shrubs including hazel, blackthorn, hawthorn and holly. The woodland edges are composed of more mature stems. On the roadside they are principally maturing hardwoods including Turkey oak and ash plus occasional beech and Scots pine, whilst along the southern edge there is also a small stand of Lawson s Cypress. On the east side of the property there is a distinct bunded area extending to about ½ an acre which is populated by maturing ash, Scots pine, beech and sycamore. Home Wood will appeal to those with an interest in small-scale silviculture. The young emerging crop of Restock sites present one of the most affordable ways to acquire woodland today. Aside from this, Home Wood has the added benefits of some more mature timber, a diversity of species, a level site, excellent internal and external access and an attractive location, all within the renowned Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Directions & Access About 7 miles east of Haverfordwest there is a new roundabout on the A40 that junctions with the A4075. From this roundabout follow for Haverfordwest, travelling west on the A40. After 3.2 miles turn left onto the minor road signed for Rhos and Picton Castle. Continue down this road in a south-westerly direction for about ¾ mile until you see a sign for Slebech Park on your left (just after a cream coloured lodge house). Home Wood is on your left after this point. You may park next to the forest gate just down from point A on the plan and walk into the wood from there.

The east boundary (AC) is an old rabbit fence just inside a derelict stone wall. The south boundary (BC) is an earth bund. The three corner points are identified by single posts with coloured tops point A (pink), point B (blue) and point C (orange). Sporting Rights The sporting rights are included and are not let. Mineral Rights The mineral rights are included except where reserved by statute. Rights of Way The property has direct frontage to the public road on its northwest side. Fencing Liabilities The Property Register identifies a historic obligation to maintain unspecified boundaries in a stock-proof condition.
