1 2018 Jefferson City Jaycees 4-H/FFA Fair Royalty Sunday, July 15: Private Interviews at Cole County Extension Office starting at 2:00pm Saturday, July 21: Stage Interviews at Cole County Extension Office (in conjunction with Fashion Revue); Fashion Revue begins at 4:30pm; check-in at 4:00pm Monday, July 30: Coronation at Fairgrounds, Barn #2 at 6:15pm, Dress Rehearsal at 5:30pm Royalty Representatives Eligibility: Clover Princess Candidates + -- Ages 8 11, as of January 1, 2018 (Class 720-R001) Clover Prince Candidates + -- Ages 8-11, as of January 1, 2018 (Class 720-R101) Princess Candidates + Prince Candidates + +One (1) year completed in 4-H and has been an active member. -- Ages 12-15, as of January 1, 2018 (Class 720-R002) -- Ages 12-15, as of January 1, 2018 (Class 720-R102) +One (1) year completed in 4-H and has been an active member or an active member of a Cole County FFA Organization. Queen Candidates* -- Age 16-22, as of January 1, 2018 (Class 720-R003) King Candidates* -- Age 16-22, as of January 1, 2018 (Class 720-R103) *Three (3) years completed in 4-H and has been an active member or an active member of a Cole County FFA Organization. In the 8-11 year old division, you may compete every year, until you gain the title of Clover Princess or Clover Prince, or are required to move up into the next age group. In the year old division, you may compete every year, until you gain the title of Princess or Prince, or are required to move up into the next age group. In the 16 and over age division, you may compete every year until you gain the title of Jaycees Fair King or Jaycees Fair Queen. If you do not complete 50% of your responsibilities as a royalty member in the previous year, you will not be eligible to run for a royalty position the next year. Six (6) total royalty representatives available: a King, a Queen, a Prince, a Princess, a Clover Prince and a Clover Princess. 2 2018 Royalty Representative Position Expectations Each Royalty Representative has the responsibility of completing his/her position expectations. King & Queen* + Serve on the following year s Royalty Event Committee Assist with Fair Awards Ceremonies including: *Fashion Revue *Shooting Sports Match * Horse Show Serve on Fair Royalty Committee with either 4-H/FFA or Jaycees Attend at least 50% of Fair Board Meetings Attend and actively assist in Cole County 4-H events (Fair, Dances, dinners, etc) Prince & Princess* Attend the following year s Royalty Event Assist with Fair Awards Ceremonies including: *Fashion Revue *Shooting Sports Match * Horse Show Attend and assist in Cole County 4-H events (Fair, County Fair Horse Show, dinners, etc.) Attend at least 50% of 4-H Fair Board meetings Assist with Jaycees & 4-H/FFA marketing and publicity events, as requested. 5 Schedule for Private Interview Location: Cole County Extension Office July 14, :00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. - Candidate interviews will take place at the Cole County Extension Office, 2436 Tanner Bridge Road, Jefferson City, MO. The Royalty Committee will contact you with your scheduled interview time. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. More slots may be added dependent on number of registrations. For the interviews, it is suggested that candidates dress in business casual attire. Business Casual attire is: For Ladies: A reasonable length skirt (not mini-skirt) or full-length pants of a non-jeans material combined with a top (such as a dress shirt, polo, or sweater set) is considered acceptable. An informal dress with appropriate skirt length is also acceptable. For Gentlemen: A combination of collared shirt (such as a dress shirt or polo shirt), cotton trousers (such as khakis) with a belt, and shoes (such as loafers) with socks is generally acceptable Candidate will be asked about 10 interview questions (may vary based on age). Private Interviews will include contestant plus 2 judges. (During Clover Prince and Princess Interviews, one parent may stay in interview room if desired.) Stage Interview and Coronation Location: Cole County Extension Office July 21, :00 PM Candidates must be at the location for the rehearsal of stage presentation. o For the evening program, young lady candidates may wear semi-formal or formal attire. Young men candidates may wear sport jackets and slacks. 4:30 PM Stage Interviews will occur in conjunction with the Fashion Revue. Coronation Location: Jefferson City Jaycees Fairgrounds, Barn #2 July 30, :30 PM Candidates must be at the location for the rehearsal of stage presentation. o For the coronation program, young lady candidates may wear jeans/nice top/cowboy boots or a dress. Young men candidates may wear dress shirt or polo and slacks. o King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Clover Prince, Clover Princess will be expected to stay to help with fair events and handing out ribbons for the Market Beef Show.
6 Judging Format The Royalty Competition will be based on two interviews: Private Interview candidate plus two judges (for the Clover Prince and Princess, one parent may stay in interview room if desired). All candidates will be given a list of questions that may be asked by the judges. Stage Interview candidate will be judged by 3 to 5 judges. Clover Prince and Princess candidates will know their question 1 week in advance. Jr. Prince and Princess candidates will be given 5 questions to prepare for, one will be chosen. King/Queen candidates will not be given their question topic(s) prior to the stage interview. They will be given their question only on stage. Candidates should be prepared to answer agriculture, agriculture education, and/or 4-H/FFA questions. Scoring criteria is: Application Resume and Essay (10%) Private Interviews (40%) Stage Interviews (50%)
