A first removal of the floating substances is made in these tanks by means of oil skimmers. In the API tank a natural separation of the heavy substances takes places, as they tend to sediment while the light substances go up to the surface. The CPI (Coalescent plates interceptor) is an oil/water separator used in a wide range of applications for removing free oils & hydrocarbons from industrial waste water, especial at applications in the oil and gas sector. CPI separators can be designed to operate under pressure (cylindrical vessels) or atmospheric flow (in concrete or steel tanks) Oily water effluent first flows through a sedimentation tank or API separator, before entering the CPI separator compartment where corrugated, horizontal, coalescent plates will separate and remove free oils. At the top of the unit, the separated oil layer on the surface is skimmed by an adjustable trough or weir. The clean effluent flows upward through the effluent compartment, overflows the adjustable effluent weir and out of the CPI separation system. 5 DAF DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION DAF UNITS FOR OIL AND GAS: YOU CAN RELY ON PROBIG! EFFECTIVE AND RELIABLE TREATMENT DAF (Dissolved air flotation) is a proven and effective physical/ chemical technology for treating a variety of industrial wastewater streams. DAF systems are commonly used for the removal of oils & greases and suspended solids to meet a different treated effluent requirements. DAF systems are also used in treating industrial wastewater effluents from the oil and gas industry after a CPI and/or API separator. DAF is a separation process, mostly in which micro-bubbles are generated and fed into the waste water, known as recycling flow process. The waste water substances and the flocs created before by using coagulation and flocculation agents at the PROBIG chemolution stage are separated by micro-bubbles and thereby made to rise to the surface and float. The flotate sludge formed by the floating solids is separated securely on the surface and removed from the water by using a chain scraper system. PROBIG Chemolution technology is used upstream: the chemical pre-conditioning or pre-treatment of the flotation plant turns colloidal dissolved, undissolved substances and other constituents ingredients of water into a soluble separable form.
