GRTgaz s participations to serve a paneuropean ambition Description Strategy based on the geographical position of France, at the crossroads between gas delivered in the North and in the South of Europe, aiming at being present on the main importation routes... Russian gas / East West axis Algerian gas / South North axis Geographical situation Nord Stream through participations in a major importation route WAG / BOG in Austria GRTgaz Deutschland / MEGAL in Germany through a partnership in upstream pipelines Medgaz Nord Stream PEG Nord NCG CEGH Deutschland A consistent bundle of assets which connects 3 of the most important gas hubs in Europe PEG Nord (Point d Echange Gaz Nord) NCG (Net Connect Germany) CEGH (Central European Gas Hub) Medgaz 4
GRTgaz in Germany: MEGAL, a network continuously developed since 1975 GERNSHEIM MITTELBRUNN MEGAL (80 bar) RIMPAR ROTHENSTADT WAIDHAUS Started in 1975 MEGAL BIS (67,5 bar) MEGAL I MEGAL II MEGAL III MEGAL BIS MEGAL BIS II 2012 The Megal Pipeline System is 1087 kms long with a maximal DN of 1200 WILDENRANNA 6 compression stations with a total installed power capacity of rd. 270 MW Km from / to Compression stations 5

Benefits of operating transmission systems in several neighbouring countries Cooperation supporting business development Development of interconnection capacities Development of new services such as bundled products between GRTgaz, GRTgaz Deutschland and BOG A recognised know-how in the transmission sector Recognized reliability as transmission system operators Commercial and / or technical shared expertise Regulatory knowledge Critical size to be credible partners for local and European stakeholders (DG Energy, Regulators, Ministries, other operators ) Enhanced experience for domestic negotiations in regulation Increased influence on the evolutions of European regulation 9
A favourable development of the market demand (1/2) An increase need of imports in Europe For the EIA the expected decrease of European domestic production will lead EU to increase its imports of Natural gas by 70% in 2035 compared to the levels in 2008 Gap (Norway included) between 2008 and 2035 estimated at 220 Gm3 700 EU imports are to be highly diversified in the coming years LNG should play a more important role in the European supply Non-conventional gas could also play a major role depending not only on the prospecting results but also on the environmental impacts of the technology environnemental Production Importation nette Demande Gas demand and imports in Europe (Gm 3 ) Gas production by region (Gm 3 ) Source: IEA - World Energy Outlook
A favourable development of the market demand (2/2) Gas imported through new pipelines (Nordstream, Southstream, Nabuco,...) will also transit either through MEGAL or WAG to supply Germany and France Diversification of supply sources (including LNG) and market integration will generate growth for gas hubs (PEG N, NCG, CEGH) 11
12 The Southern Corridor
Interest to develop our activities in the Southern corridor The Southern corridor is of interest for GRTgaz for several reasons Coherence with the strategy of development of GRTgaz validated by its shareholders Diversification of regulatory regimes in Europe Improving the diversification of sources (especially from Caspian) and routes of supply for Central and Western Europe (thus contributing to the improvement of SoS in Europe) Developing an influential network within Europe (NRAs, ACER, ENTSOG, EC) Identification of technical and commercial synergies Different projects could contribute to our strategy GRTgaz is open to discuss different opportunities of development in the Southern corridor 13
