2 12 th ENCORE Conference of the Regions of Europe Regions taking Action Alliances on Climate Change and Green Economy the motto of the 12 th ENCORE Conference shows that Climate Change is currently the most important environmental challenge and therefore the regions of Europe have to cooperate closely in order to initiate and implement effective solutions. The aim of the Paris Agreement in context of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 C above pre-industrial level to reduce the risks and impacts of climate change. To face this formidable challenge is a major duty for both, states and regions. Therefore green energy technologies as a rising segment of Green Economy will help to solve the environmental problems and create new green jobs. Carinthia has already an over 52 percentage of renewable energy. Within the regional energy policy according to the energy masterplan the Carinthian aim is to become fully independent from fossil energy regarding electricity until 2020 and mobility until In order to exchange best practice examples and create close cooperation among regions the 12 th ENCORE Conference is hosted by Carinthia in The second ENCORE youth conference YouthCORE 2016 involving young people from European regions will be held in the run-up to the ENCORE Conference from 18 th - 23 rd of September in Cap Wörth/Wörthersee.
