2 EIP Water Action Group overview The below pages provide an overview of the focus of all 25 Action Groups and 11 FP7 funded demonstration projects, organized per EIP Water priority area. Contact details for all Action Groups are available on the online Market Place:
3 P1 - Water re-use and recycling AG132 - RESEWAM-O - Remote sensing for water management optimization Develop an integrated toolbox for water scarcity detection, diagnostics and DSS for water re-distribution in water scarcity areas. AG045 - Industrial Water Reuse and Recycling Development of different recycling concepts; standardizing different water qualities; standardize treatment technologies in modular approach. DEMOWARE (InnoDemo) Collaborative programme of demonstration and exploitation, using nine existing and one greenfield site; create a unified professional identity for the European Water Reuse sector. DemEAUmed (InnoDemo) Demonstrating and promoting innovative technologies, for an optimal and safe closed water cycle in Euro-Mediterranean tourist facilities.
4 P2 - Water and waste water treatment AG108 - ARREAU - Accelerating Resource Recovery from Water Cycle Commercialize value chains for resources from the water cycle, in particular iron from drinking water production, phosphorous from waste water and cellulose from waste water. AG110 - MEET-ME4water - Meeting Microbial Electrochemistry for water Commercialize microbial electrochemical, zero energy technologies to treat urban and industrial wastewater and recover/synthesize. AG118 - MSWTP - Modular low-cost concept for WWTPs design and build Proof of concept of modular low cost concept WWTP in real scale demo sites in different countries by BIOMETAL DEMO (InnoDemo) Demonstrating feasibility of the application of novel biotechnologies for the treatment of metal polluted wastewaters with development of two pilot plants.
5 P3 - Water-energy nexus AG103 - PVAIZEC - Large PV Pumping Systems for zero energy irrigation Build business case of combining demand-led high-energy-efficient irrigation systems and photovoltaic pumping stations. AG115 - EWW Energy and Water Works - energizing sustainable deltas Build business case of energy production in delta with innovation in non-tidal hydropower. AG025 - Renewable Energy Desalination Support development and commercialization of renewable energy desalination at concrete sites. AG029 - W4EF - Framework for Energy Impacts on Water Developing a framework to assess the water use of energy companies. AG036 - Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactor for Recovery of Energy and Resources Development of anaerobic based treatment process with energy production, low sludge residues and nutrient recovery. (I)
6 P3 - Water-energy nexus SmartWater4Europe (InnoDemo) Smart Water Management themes demonstrated at 4 well-scaled and real-life demonstration sites in France, United Kingdom, Spain and The Netherlands. WEAM4i (InnoDemo) (II) Resource efficiency at local level will be demonstrated on the irrigation systems for saving water, for improving the m3/kwh ratio and for the minimization of the operational cost of water supply infrastructures in PT, ES and DE.
7 P4 - Flood and drought risk management AG112 - WIRE - Water & Irrigated agriculture Resilient Europe Optimize irrigation strategies with re-used water, with energy efficient water management under drought, and with addressing governance challenges. AG128 - MAR Solutions -Managed Aquifer Recharge Strategies and Actions Build solutions, based on 9 case studies, with inclusion of ecological modelling, economic incentives and risk aspects. AG014 - SPADIS - Smart Prices & Drought Insurance Schemes in Mediterranean Development of water management and risk assessment models to reduce and mitigate drought impact, and design appropriate economic instruments. MARSOL (InnoDemo) Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) schemes.
8 P5 - Ecosystem services AG052 ESE - Ecosystem Services for Europe Development and testing of methods to integrate Ecosystem services in Water management planning. DESSIN (InnoDemo) Evaluation Framework to account for changes in the value of ecosystem services (ESS) of water bodies.
9 P6 - Water governance AG102 - WaterReg - Water services regulation and governance in Europe Explore and promote innovative approaches to price setting in the water sector and optimal operational scales in the water sector. AG111 - Mitigation of Water Stress in Coastal Zones by Sust. Water Mngd Build solutions in coastal managed aquifer recharging, based on specific monitoring- and management approaches and specific financing/pricing models. AG117 - Water Justice Based on interdisciplinary research and concrete management instruments to implement more equitable, democratic and sustainable water governance. AG131 - DISSME - Demand-Driven Innovation Support for SMEs via NNWPs Build solutions that support SMEs in business development and commercialization in international markets via national water partnerships. (I)
10 P6 - Water governance AG041 - City Blueprints Application of an assessment scheme for the sustainability of municipal water management systems, community of practice. AG042 - WaterCoRe - Regional governance of water scarcity & drought issues Development and implementation of regional action plans for scarcity and drought issues, network of regions across Europe. (II)
11 P7 - Decision support systems and monitoring AG100 - RTWQM - Real Time Water Quality Monitoring Technology and market development across all relevant domains of water management, including legislation, standardisation and awareness raising. AG124 - AugMent - Water Monitoring for Decision Support Develop proof of concept that bring together in-situ sensors (technology and participatory observations/crowd sourcing) and remote sensing. AG125 - EBCF - European Benchmark Cooperation Foundation Improve water efficiency and sustainability in water and sanitation services through the roll-out a benchmarking process that covers the entire water cycle. AG126 - Ctrl+Swan - Monitoring and smart water network Build business case of low-cost real-time detection and mitigation techniques to address drug metabolite and other difficult to control pollutants. SAID (InnoDemo) Deployment and evaluation of a complex demonstrator, composed by several heterogeneous and innovative DSSs in the same river basin.
12 P8 - Financing for innovation AG013 - FinnoWater Develop new financial instruments and mechanisms to increase financial flows in the water sector and water related sectors. WaterPiPP (InnoDemo) Knowledge on IOPP transferability to the water sector, pilot cases where different IOPP (PCP/PPI) will be tested at least by five procurers. P9 - Smart technologies (no EIP Water priority area, but enabling factor) SmartWater4Europe (InnoDemo) Smart Water Management themes demonstrated at 4 well-scaled and real-life demonstration sites in France, United Kingdom, Spain and The Netherlands.
