Dave s exceptional service is available to each and every member individually or via OSBA webinars simply or call Dave directly. ISSUE MANAGEMENT Dave Carroll represents OSBA members interests and successfully advises government regarding many issues affecting the school bus industry including, but not limited to: Driver Background Checks Driver Certification Program (DCP) Annual and Semi-annual Bus Inspection Standards MTO Inspections and Enforcement CSA D-250 Standards Ongoing working list contains 23 industry issues on behalf of OSBA members. GOVERNMENT ADVOCACY AND PARTNERSHIPS OSBA is the only association that represents its members with one strong, collective, professional voice. OSBA is highly respected and called upon by government for industry advice, and advocates for all members in an expert manner with the Ministries of Education, Government Services, Transportation and Rural Affairs along with numerous other provincial and federal bodies. Competitive procurement has been a major focus of the association s Board of Directors and OSBA continues to meet with government officials to resolve the concerns of members. OSBA also continues to build relationships with school board officials and transportation consortia across the province through a variety of ongoing efforts and initiatives. DRIVER LICENCE STATUS CHECK (DLSC) This is a timely, reliable, affordable service for bus operators to confirm at regular intervals (4 times per year), that their drivers have a valid licence. Subscribers to DLSC have the added benefit of electronic access to MTO 3-year detailed driver abstracts for less than it costs to get abstracts from MTO. EDUCATION Webinars - OSBA conducts webinars to assist in education and informing members on timely and pertinent industry issues and initiatives. These webinars offer learning opportunities to not only owner members but to all staff from the comfort and convenience of their offices or homes. These educational opportunities will continue on a complimentary basis in Ontario Transportation Expo (OTE) - OSBA, along with its partners OMCA and OPTA, offers the only quadruple bus industry conference and trade show in Canada combining school bus, motor coach, public transit and specialized transit. School bus specific educational workshops are led by accomplished subject matter experts and focus on highly relevant information that helps member businesses on a day-today basis. OTE provides a unique opportunity for a variety of business connections and to share experiences, expertise and best practices particularly during the trade show. Professional Instructor in Driver Education (P.R.I.D.E.) Program - A one-of-a-kind training program that teaches driver instructors how to properly train new and seasoned fleet drivers. The unique dual in-classroom/on-road learning environment provides pre-requisite certification for Signing Authority with the Ministry of Transportation (Ontario). OSBA members receive discounted registration fees as a membership benefit. PUBLICATIONS Daily Inspection Log Books, Record of Duty Status (HOS) Forms and PMVI Guidebook and Inspection Report Forms are essential tools for all operators and available at discounted member prices. OSBA Newsletter, President s Portal, Important Bulletins electronically provide the latest issues and trends that impact daily business and the school bus industry. Newsletter distributed to members on a bi-weekly basis. School Bus Ontario - Canada s only school bus industry magazine containing articles and expert insight on highly topical subjects that impact school bus and industry related companies across Ontario. Sent to all members on an annual basis, along with government officials, Directors of Education and many other student transportation stakeholders.
