3 INTRODUCTION This modular degree program trains participants to become a Master Manager in thirteen modules. This unique concept supports Management Development and promotes the continued growth of risk, control, security, HR and auditing employees at senior management level. Fundamental changes in society, driven by factors such as technology, call for broadly educated employees who can help to break down silo thinking. From the organizational perspective, it is important that participants experience and go beyond the different viewpoints in each module. Aided by the theories and experiences of teachers and fellow students, they will formulate concrete answers to familiar business questions. Preparation through e-learning, pre-selected literature and assignments will be required, so that relevant management issues can be effectively addressed during classroom sessions. It is also possible to opt for support in line with the participant s applicable Management Development Plan. In this way, the degree program seamlessly contributes to the development of participants into managers within the context of their own organizations. 3
4 POST-MASTER MC&A The modules are organized twice per year and run for two months, with classes held three days per month. You will be admitted to the classroom sessions once you have met the preparation requirements. The thirteen modules can be completed within two years, but you can set your own pace and may often choose the module sequence as well. YOUR TARGET POSITION As a prospective Operational Auditor, you will take modules 1 through 5 (10 months). As a prospective IT Auditor, you will take module 2 as well as modules 4 through 8 (12 months). The Business Control Manager will master modules 3 through 6, along with modules 8, 9 and 12 (14 months). For Internal Auditors, we suggest modules 1 through 8, plus modules 10 and 12 (20 months), which will place you head and shoulders above many of your colleagues. For the HR Manager, we recommend modules 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 (10 months). With modules 3 through 6 and 8 through 13, you ll earn the title of Integral Manager (20 months). But perhaps then you ll complete modules 1, 2 and 7 as well, becoming a master Control & Auditing Manager (MC&A) (2 years). 5 PROGRAM STRUCTURE By rotating the participants in different organizational positions (management as well as advisory, support, audit and controlling staff) with the corresponding responsibilities, the degree program takes form and lives up to its name: Management, Management Control, Control and Auditing. The class days are interactive and practically oriented. They include group assignments and in-depth presentations focusing on business, financial, IT and HR management theories. The theory can readily be put into practice. This enables you to immediately deliver added value to your organization. You will prepare for classes by means of selected literature, targeted assignments, e-learning activities and test questions in a modern learning management system (LMS). Exams are carried out through individual and group assignments, combined with test questions via the e-learning support tool. 5
6 OPERATIONAL AUDITOR IT AUDITOR BUSINESS CONTROL MANAGER INTERNAL AUDITOR HR MANAGER WHOM IS IT FOR? The MC&A degree program is geared towards future managers who wish to educate themselves in management, management control and auditing or monitoring. Participants work as controllers, risk managers or auditors, or are employed under other titles in the 2 nd and 3 rd "Line of Defense". They might be working as managers in the 1 st line, or may have gained experience in such a role. They see their current position as an important starting point of their career within their current organization. They will develop their research and communication skills, and acquire knowledge about organizational structuring, management and IT. Participants are broadly equipped to start working immediately. They also wish to build up a variety of experiences, preferably in different roles, so that they can eventually give the learning effects back to their organization in a management role. INTEGRAL MANAGER MC&A Participants perform at an academic level. Post-HBO educated candidates will take part in a selection process. The program supports the breeding ground potential of risk, control and auditing departments, among others. As a trained RA, RE, RO or RC, you ll be able to skip some of the fundamentals and expand your knowledge of IT management and IT auditing (CISA) or research on Behavioral Controls. By focusing on broad management and communication skills, you will develop yourself into a Master Manager while also fulfilling your PE obligation. You will receive a Nyenrode certificate for each module. In combination, these represent the stated target positions. 6
7 THIS NEW POST-MASTER DEGREE PROGRAM: is accessible for participants who can work and think at an academic level has a modular structure with 3 consecutive plenary days per month is supported by a mandatory e-learning activity and literature assignment (to be completed prior to the plenary sessions) can be completed at one s own pace, but within fixed time frames focuses on immediate practical implementation within each of the organizational lines supports the possibility to grow from the second and third line into a manager in the first line, and can be combined with the Management Development path from one s own organization.
