RCPCH definition of mentoring Mentoring is the process by which an experienced, highly regarded, empathic person (the mentor) guides another individual (the mentee) in the development and reexamination of their own ideas, learning, and personal and professional development Standing Committee on Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education (1998) Supporting doctors and dentists at work: an enquiry into mentoring, London.

34 Mentee feedback so far Very useful to talk about things I thought would be helpful would be a little clarify on topics that could be discussed as part of the mentoring process versus supervision. Setting a specific aim prior to the meeting would be helpful too. We had a relaxed discussion about my expectations and current issues of concern and have set 3 areas to consider at our next meeting. Information up to now, including the booklet, has been helpful. I think the scheme will prove really beneficial for me. I don't have any negative feedback or suggested improvements at the moment Thank you for setting up the scheme Very useful
