Amongst many things that bring pride to being part of Banque Saudi Fransi, this programme holds on to its position high on the list. 5 A Message from the CHR Head The Professional Development Programme is a strategic corporate programme for BSF that guarantees the return on investment in training for employees. The strategic aim of the PDP is to develop well-rounded junior bankers allowing mutual benefits to both employees and BSF. The innovative learning process puts strong emphasis on on-the-job training performing actual work assignments more than classroom training. 9 About the Programme Programme Overview Our Programme is designed to train and develop graduates with bachelor degree or higher to acquire the necessary skills to hold leadership positions in core banking or support and control Divisions. All of which are exciting areas of banking, where you will have the opportunity to make a real impact. Programme Objectives BSF aims to hire talented and highly motivated applicants from leading universities abroad and in the Kingdom. Our programme provides market leading training targeted to create ambitious and goal orientated leaders who proactively use initiative to retain our position at the forefront of the banking industry. Programme structure We believe that every new graduate comes with a unique set of knowledge, skills and perspectives. Our Professional Development Programme provides a solid foundation to start your career, share your knowledge, reveal leadership capabilities and work with talented colleagues along the way. You will have the opportunity to realize your full potential and find out what it takes to succeed in a challenging and dynamic environment. Our comprehensive programme includes technical and soft skills training, matching your practical experience with a mixture of knowledge and skill that leads to success. Training courses are followed by formal on-job-training in assigned departments. Participants are expected to obtain a variety of skills, to be productive, and to take initiative in continual efforts to gain a deep understanding of the business. 7
10 Application Process Our recruitment and selection process includes several phases of assessment and there are certain requirements which must be met for application eligibility. The application submission date is within the first half of the year (Jan- Jun) The start of the Programme will be within the Second half of the year (Jul- Dec) Programme requirements PDP applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Saudi National Recent University Graduate with graduation date not exceeding one year. Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or 4.00 on a 5-point scale Fluency in English Speaking, Reading and Writing International English Language Test Standard (IELTS) 5.5 and above Age not exceeding 28 years at the time of application Desirable Majors Business Administration Economics Finance Management Information Systems Computer Science Industrial Engineering Accounting 8 Professional Development Program I PDP
11 Application Process Once you have your CV completed, and you would like to join us please visit our Career Portal at Upon registration, you will have access to the Applicant Center (self-service) that will enable you to track your application at any stage of the recruitment process and many more features. Your CV must include: Name, address, contact details (telephone numbers and addresses) Age Skills and knowledge other relevant experience Achievements Training courses Highest level of education Interview An interview is your opportunity to prove that you obtain the required skills, abilities and personality. We need to know what your achievements, skills and capabilities are, so make sure this comes across in your answers. Consider questions that are likely to be asked and practice your answers as much as possible. Likely questions include: What makes you interested in this Programme? What makes you a good candidate? What are your strengths and weaknesses? 9
12 Assessment Methods Assessment Methods The recruitment and selection criteria for this programme is very rigorous, involving not only interviews, but comprising on-line assessments of English language proficiency, cognitive reasoning abilities (Numerical and Verbal), business scenario exercises and psychometric assessments, together with fact-finding and competency-based interviews, culminating in group assessment centers in Riyadh. Candidates will be screened out or in at every stage of this multi-step process 10 Professional Development Program I PDP
13 Continuous Assessment Continuous Assessment Over the twelve months of the programme, each PDP will have an individually tailored Development Plan, compiled in conjunction with the relevant Line Manager, and progression of performance, delivery and personal skills will be monitored through evaluations on a regular basis. You should be able to show that you are suitable to work within our organization and add value to it. You will be given regular feedback, coaching, monitoring and have the opportunity to attend professional training that will give you the opportunity to improve and excel. At the end of one year you will be (upon the confirmation of your division head) graduating. 11
14 Testimonials T Professional Development Programme (PDP) is a great programme for fresh graduates to give an overall view of the various departments in the bank. It gives the opportunity for both the trainees and the departments to get to know each other before committing to work together. I joined Group Treasury in 1995 as part of the Margin Trading team. After one year Margin Trading was relocated to Private Banking under the Brokerage Department and I was part of that move. It was a completely different environment with full of challenges. I rejoined GTD in 1998 and ever since I ve assumed eight different positions, until I became the Head of Group of Treasury in Adel Mallawi I Group Treasury Head Back in 2005, and after I graduated as an Industrial Engineer from King Saud University, my destiny steered me to deviate from the path I had previously identified for my career, and into the banking/finance sector. After reviewing programmes offered by most Saudi Banks, I found BSF to be at the top in providing a well-rounded and structured Professional Development Programme for fresh graduates and the decision was made to join BSF s unrivalled PDP. During my journey, I had the chance to explore the various bank functions and learned the core and basic banking management skills which I found priceless, given the programme s time-horizon. After successfully completing my PDP, I joined the Structured Finance Division CBG where I utilized the knowledge I gained from the PDP course and acquired on the job training during my stay at SFD. I also leveraged the wide in-house social network established during the programme to help my management in achieving the bank s mission and vision. My enrollment to the PDP was the first important step of who I am today; the Head of Corporate Finance Department SFD. While I am still relatively at the origin of my career path, the programme has marched my progress within the Bank s hierarchy and it will, along with my hard work and discipline, further my career progress. 15 Testimonials I applied for a job with BSF in September 1994 and was subsequently enrolled in the Professional Development Programme (PDP batch 7) for one year, during which I spent 6 months on rotation in all the bank s divisions. I also completed 6 months on-job-training in the Credit Administration Department - Western Region. During the period from 1998 to 2004, I took over as Head of Credit Administration Department - Western Region. Since 2004, I have held the position of Head of the Credit Administration Country Wide. PDP was truly the core foundation of my successful career path and I wish the programme to continue its successful role in developing the future managers of BSF. Riyad Obaid I Head of Legal Division I graduated from the American University of Beirut with a BA in Economics. Shortly afterwards, I decided to start a career in banking. Following a variety of job offers from top banks in Saudi Arabia, I chose to join Banque Saudi Fransi when I was admitted in the Professional Development Programme (PDP). The programme consisted of training courses and hands-on training in different bank departments. As a fresh graduate, PDP was a great experience. It helped me learn about the structure of the organization, its different divisions and its core activities. Most importantly, joining the PDP was key for me to build a great network among all levels within the bank. After graduating from PDP, Batch 16, I joined the Structured Finance Division (SFD) and became one of the few Saudi women working in this highly sophisticated domain in finance. Today, I head the Leveraged Finance Department within SFD where I work on the financings of mega projects and interact with senior managers and CEOs of Saudi blue chip companies that have massively contributed to the Saudi economy. I ve always had a fascination with trading and sales and the Treasury function in a bank. Therefore I decided to pursue this as a career.
