2 TRANSCO Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company is a subsidiary of (ADWEA) and is responsible for developing, operating and maintaining the high voltage power transmission and bulk water transmission. We are responsible for servicing current demand for water and electricity transmission and for building the appropriate infrastructure to support future demand. 2

5 About our Work Readiness Programme Our Work Readiness Programme, commencing January 2015 is the ideal introduction onto the best career path in the power and water industry. Lasting 18 months, it will provide you with a solid business and technical foundation that combines on-the-job training, technical knowledge and competence-based learning. Ultimately, the Programme will support you all the way to achieving a recognised practical certificate from CERT. 5
6 To be considered for any role on the programme you ll need to be A UAE National (aged 18-25). A High School certificate holder. Physically fit. A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and committed to learning and progressing your own career. Reliable, methodical and conscientious in your approach to work. Knowledgeable in calculating and interpreting numerical data. IT literate. Able to show personal integrity. 6
7 Programme Contract Work readiness programme is a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and related classroom instruction under the supervision of professionals in which you will learn the practical and theoretical aspects for a highly skilled occupation with TRANSCO. The contract confirms your commitment to learning and TRANSCO s responsibilities to develop your career in the electricity and water industry. 7
8 Selection process 6 1- Qualified to work as a Junior Technician at TRANSCO 2- Candidate successfully completes Work Readiness Programme and has career entry to TRANSCO as junior technician 5 1- Programme starts 2- Candidate begins the learning programme at the Higher College of Technology and OJT with TRANSCO 4 1- Apply immediately by sending your CV to wrp@transco.ae 2- An application form will automatically be sent to you to complete and return 2 Selection process 1- Final interview & selection 2- Contract Signature Attend Open Day for candidates to learn more about the Programme and meet different members of the TRANSCO team and be interviewed by the panel 1- Successful candidates attend the Assessment Centre at HCT 2- Psychometric testing for verbal, numerical and abstract aptitude, along with a personality questionnaire 8
9 Training Programme A very intensive programme has been adapted specifically to the needs of TRANSCO s future talent TRANSCO Trainee Technician Programme Personal Skills Trainee Business Technician Skills Core Skills Specialized Skills General English Language Basic Mathematical Skills Computer Basics (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook, and File Management) Business Communication (Arabic + English) Professional Development Time Management; Stress Management; Problem Solving Decision Making; Team Member; Team Leading; Work Ethics Goal Setting; Motivation; Interpersonal Skills Technical English for Industry Mechanical Theory and Principles for the industry Asset Management Applied Math Introduction to UAE Electricity Industry Health, Safety & Environment Contract Management in the Industry Service Ethic in the industry First Aid Electrical Theory & Principals 6 months 6 months 6 months Courses delivered in the section are of a specialised nature to the work the Trainee technician will be doing. 9
10 Start your career in the Water and Electricity Industry This is a multi-stage programme designed to provide a long-term career development for candidates. After successful completion of the initial programme, you will be offered a position in TRANSCO at an entry level as a Junior Technician. Following further studies and experience, you will progress to Technician level. Once completed the Technician Programme, as well as being certified as fully Authorised at the field level, you could progress to the role of Technician. The final step for the most experienced personnel in this career stream is to be in a supervisory level as an Assistant Engineer.
11 Extracurricular activities Apart from the usual training programme, CERT-TRANSCO organises team building workshops and other sports and recreational activities. 11
