Growth Coaching International s popular has been designed for leaders in the school education sector who are committed to significantly building their coaching and leadership skills in order to confidently lead coaching conversations with staff, students and even parents. Who can apply? Education directors, school principals, heads of educational organisations departments Head office personnel, including education consultants, HR managers and professional development managers Deputy principals, assistant principals and head teachers Teachers aspiring to leadership roles Education counsellors and senior assistants Schools, regions and dioceses who wish to host the programme in house. What makes this different to other coaching programmes available? It is designed and presented by experienced educators with a strong background in curriculum design and delivery. GCI coaches and facilitators have decades of experience in educational leadership settings and have coached and trained thousands of educational leaders across the country, and internationally It is able to be delivered as a public programme or can be delivered in-house within regions, Dioceses or clusters of schools to build internal leadership coaching capability. 3 3 Successful completion of the 4 phases of this programme, including a written assignment, provides: What does accreditation status provide? Recognition of 37 hours of training that can contribute to an International Coaching Federation credential Mastery and accreditation status with GCI s 8 Step Coaching System. As part of this arrangement fully accredited participants receive: Access to all materials associated with the GROWTH coaching process such as photocopiable templates and checklists, and other coaching support resources Permission to add Growth Coaching International Accredited Coach to your business card Opportunity to be part of the GCI coaching projects, if appropriate. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) towards Masters of Educational Leadership programmes with several Australian Universities including, University of Tasmania, University of New England, Charles Darwin University, University of WA and Edith Cowan University. Further, Accredited Experiential Learning can be gained at post coaching degree level with the University of East London. 4 4 Phase 1 What is the specific content covered in the programme? 2 day workshop This phase will provide a balance of theory and practical application, including significant modelling of coaching practice. Participants will have opportunities to practise coaching in a highly supportive environment. Phase 2 serves to build on and reinforce concepts introduced during Phase 1. This phase will include: Modelling by GCI facilitators on the GROWTH coaching model and a recommended structure of individual practice sessions focussing on: Setting the foundation, co-creating the relationship, planning and goal setting Creating awareness and designing actions Managing a coaching conversation relationship issues and effective communication skills Giving feedback and facilitating learning and results Participants coaching each other based on the materials covered to date Telephone coaching skill development

5 5 Participants commencing a practical coaching assignment involving a personal client e.g. direct report, colleague etc. with direct coaching/mentoring support provided by GCI coach Participants will explore typical coaching scenarios and be provided with a range of tools and techniques to address those in the coaching process. This will include goals associated with leadership development, team leadership and school improvement. Phase 3 2 day programme A significant focus of phase 3 includes input and modelling on giving feedback in coaching. This Phase will again have a highly participatory focus. Phase 4 Optional Phase 4 is optional but is a required if you seek accreditation in the GCI coaching system and rights to use GCI coaching systems and materials in your practice. Participants are also eligible to apply for university RPL status with certain universities with the completion of this phase. An additional assignment and readings are often required for those who seek university RPL status. Note: Once GCI Accreditation is achieved a formal agreement is entered into providing GCI Accredited Coach status for a 3 year period. Further continuing professional development is required to extend Accreditation status beyond the initial 3 year period. This will involve 45 hours of professional development over 3 years. The only required professional development activity during that period is participation in the GCI Solution Focus Master Class. Other forms of professional development including coaching supervision, reading, conferences and other workshops and webinars can count towards those 45 hours. 6 6 We offer 3 distinct options in Phase GCI Standard Accreditation Pathway Involves 6 x 1 hour phone coaching sessions that focuses on providing additional individual coaching together with complete exposure to the GCI coaching system. This option requires: Excellent, wellstructured, very supportive and positive (although challenging). Carmel Flynn School Community Development Officer, Brisbane Catholic Education, QLD Completion of 6 coaching sessions with a real client Written reflective practice assignment to post graduate standard, including familiarity with current coaching research literature and appropriate referencing Coachee to coach the coach and receive detailed written feedback A high level of commitment to building coaching capability and to the practise of coaching in current or future roles. NB: Progression to full accreditation with GCI is not automatic. Participants will need to achieve high skill levels in coaching practice and demonstrate the ability to reflect insightfully about their coaching, developing strategies to move from good to great as a coach. 2. GCI Accreditation Plus Pathway. This option includes 7 x 1 hour phone coaching sessions and covers all points included in Option 2. In addition this option also includes detailed feedback on the written bridging assignment required for application into the University of East London (UEL) programmes and assistance with UEL application. NB: Acceptance into the UEL (or other) postgraduate coaching programmes is not automatic. Participants will need to: Achieve high skill levels in coaching practice Demonstrate, in the written assignments, insightful thinking in relation to coaching in educational contexts together and a familiarity with current research, including appropriate referencing Demonstrate the ability to reflect insightfully about their coaching, developing strategies to move from being a good to great coach. NB: The above 2 Phase 4 options also provide the opportunity for participants to undertake an assessment tool of choice* to develop increased knowledge and appreciation of the value of assessment tools in the coaching process and to learn more about your work preferences and personality style. * An additional cost is involved for the assessment tool so completion of this is not mandatory. Choice includes: Team Management Systems TMP, Human Synergistics LSI 360 feedback instrument, Everything DiSC Workplace Profile, Myers Briggs Type Indicator or Genos EQ360 NB: At the present time the UEL option is not available to UK based participants.

7 7 3. Skill Sharpening Pathway. Involves 3 x 40 minute phone coaching sessions that focus on providing additional individual coaching to support the workshop learning in participant s selected coaching skill development area. There is no requirement for a written assignment. This option does not lead to GCI accreditation. Some participants may also choose to conclude their involvement in the Coaching Accreditation Programme at the conclusion of Phase 3, deciding not to pursue any of these Phase 4 options. Course participants who complete all four phases of this programme may make individual applications for admission to the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Coaching Psychology, a distance learning or campus-based programme offered by UEL in the United Kingdom. Candidates who (i) submit a satisfactory piece of additional written work as specified by UEL, to UEL, (ii) perform satisfactorily in an online interview with UEL and (iii) meet any other admissions requirements may (at UEL s absolute discretion) be granted exemption from the module Coaching in Education ( Module code: GCM253). NB: At the present time the UEL option is not available to UK based participants. For N.S.W Participants QTC Registered Professional Development. Completing Phase 1 to 3 of Coaching Accreditation Program will contribute 30 hours of QTC Registered PD addressing 3.1.4, 3.5.4, 6.1.4, 6.2.4, and from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Lead Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
