1 CANDIDATE BIOS Andrea Mower, PHR, SHRM-CP President Elect: Andrea Mower has over 25 years of professional experience in Human Resources in a number of industries including medical media, government, and manufacturing. Andrea is the Vice President of Human Resources and Administrative Services at Eastern Controls, reporting directly to the CEO, and serves on the Leadership team. She is the first female Vice President in the company s 48- year history. Andrea oversees employee recruitment & retention, benefits, compensation, payroll, employee relations, training, professional development, policies & procedures, and external and internal communications, marketing and office/building management. Andrea s accomplishments at her current company, Eastern Controls, Inc. include revitalizing the performance review process, developing a competitive compensation program, implementing the tuition reimbursement program and professional development of individuals targeted for new roles in the organization. Andrea also writes and conducts in house training for staff including anti-harassment/discrimination/retaliation, etiquette, generations in the workplace table manners (for outside sales), interviewing, coaching employees, discipline, FMLA and worker s compensation. Andrea introduced DiSC to the organization and utilizes it for recruitment, training and coaching. Andrea holds her professional certification in Human Resources, PHR, as well as her professional SHRM-CP certification. She has a Bachelor s Degree from The University of the Arts in Theatre and a Master s Degree in Organization Leadership from Cabrini College. Andrea was a 2014 nominee for HR Person of the Year in Delaware Valley. Andrea has been a long time member of CCHRA and has held board positions in the past, including Program Chair and Vice President. When not working in the field of HR, Andrea enjoys performing with her husband, Tim, in his professional magic shows. as well as spending time at the Jersey shore with friends and family. Cori Leary, MS-HRD Vice President/President Elect: Cori is currently working as the full-time Human Resources Director for Barclay Friends in West Chester, PA. Prior to this position, she worked as a Human Resources Generalist at Barclay Friends, as well as at the CCIU in Downingtown, PA. In May 2015, she graduated from Villanova University with her MS degree in Human Resource Development. She received her dual BA degrees in Public Relations and Psychology from Penn State University in Since graduating, she has become an active part of the Chester Country Human Resources Association, attending the majority of meetings and networking events. Currently, she is on the CCHRA Board as the Diversity Chair. She previously held the role of College Relations Chair and was largely responsible for working with West Chester University to start their

2 Student SHRM chapter. She is also a past recipient of the CCHRA Graduate Scholarship. In 2016, Cori was nominated as "HR Rising Star" at the Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year Awards. Somehow, among all these other activities, she found time to get married in late Vanessa Barnett, SPHR, SHRM-SCP Treasurer: Vanessa Barnett is the HR Manager for Aerzen USA Corporation in Coatesville, PA. She began her career as an accounting clerk and worked her way up to Controller and HR Managing positions. She also serves as President and Owner of BAC, a small commercial cleaning business since With this small business, she performs all the Accounting, HR and Administrative functions. Yearly tax preparation is also another venture she does as a small business. In 2011, Vanessa successfully acquired her PHR certification. Recently, in 2013, she went back and passed her SPHR certification and, in 2015, completed her SHRM-SCP certification. She is a graduate of Coatesville Area High School, has an Associate Degree in Accounting and Bachelor s Degree in General Studies covering Accounting to HR Management. She provides a vast range of 20 plus years of experience in the Accounting, HR and Administrative functions. Vanessa currently serves on the Chester County Economic Development Council Board for the Manufacturing Alliance, the CCEDC group for Youth Initiative, and volunteers with Triskeles Food for All Program which makes gardens and donates the vegetables to food banks. Jennifer Griffiths, PHR Secretary: Jenni Griffiths joined the PROXUS team in 2006 as a recruitment specialist and moved into the compensation department in During her tenure with PROXUS, Jenni has utilized her extensive knowledge of human resource management and client-centered background to provide PROXUS clients with the right tools to address the strategic needs of their organization. As part of the compensation division, her focus has been in assisting in the development and writing of job descriptions, compensation administration and incentive plan design and implementation. Jenni holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Mississippi and holds the professional designation of PHR. Page 2

3 Emilie Laga College Relations Chair: Professionally, Emilie has developed a breadth of experience in human resources primarily in the areas of employee and labor relations, training, compensation and benefits, risk management, recruiting, and project management. Additionally, she had the advantage of working at worldwide companies in varied industries (manufacturing, distribution and logistics, and retail) which included working in France and in the UK. Emilie works at Megger in Valley Forge, PA as a Human Resources Manager. She studied at Villanova University and earned a Bachelor s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies Leadership including graduate classes in HR. She is bilingual in English-French and speaks Italian. Emilie is a SHRM member and has been the College Relations Board Chair of the Chester County Human Resources Association (CCHRA) since July Sharon Standish, Diversity Chair: Sharon started with the Downingtown Area School District Human Resources department in Prior to joining DASD, Sharon gained her human resources experience working for an approved private school and a mortgage company. She attended WCU earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and has completed further coursework in the fields of human resources and organizational development. As the Director of Human Resources for DASD, her responsibilities include oversight for recruitment and hiring of staff, employee relations, labor disputes, compensation, payroll, benefits, and wellness. Sharon is an active member of CCHRA and SHRM and the Pennsylvania Assn. of School Personnel Administrators. Jennifer Ermilio, Esq. Legal & Legislative Chair Jennifer is an accomplished employment law attorney, with more than fifteen years of experience. She currently works as Of Counsel with Stevens & Lee, P.C. s Labor &Employment Department in its Valley Forge office. She has focused her practice on business counseling and litigation management and is known for providing practical, costeffective solutions to an array of employment related issues. She has been recognized for her ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex legal information and build relationships of trust with clients at all levels of an Page 3

4 organization. Jennifer received an AVPreeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a peer review ranking indicating the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards. She obtained her law degree from the Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. She would be honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve as CCHRA s Legislative Chair for the program year. Laura Kasper Membership Chair Laura Kasper is the President, CEO and Founder of Monarch Staffing, a certified woman-owned, boutique staffing agency servicing the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley region. Laura has 20+ years in the staffing business and has successfully owned and operated Monarch Staffing for 15 years, with offices located in Delaware, Chester and Montgomery Counties and Phila. She helped numerous employers find top talent and has been instrumental in placing thousands of job seekers with area employers. Monarch has been recognized as the Best of Staffing for both the Candidate and Client Experience - less than 1% of the staffing firms in the US achieve this award. Monarch was named Small Business of the Year 2012 by the Del. County Chamber of Commerce; and, in 2012, Laura was named the Distinguished Alumni of DCCC. She gave the Keynote Address at DCCC's Commencement. In 2013, she received the Spirit of Excellence award from the Friends of the Delaware County Women s Commission; and, in 2016, was a Brava Award Winner - Philadelphia s Smart CEO's recognition of successful women entrepreneurs. Additionally, Laura volunteers at local job centers, schools and community organizations giving resume writing and interviewing workshops. She is a board member for the Foundation board of Delaware County Community College, New Choices and the Workforce Investment Board of Delaware County. She volunteers for Hire One Chester County and is a Charter member of the Delaware County SHRM. Laura has a positive energy and likes to build relationships. She lives by finding the silver lining and her Golden Rule- Do unto others as they want to be done unto. Kim Edgin, MPA, SPHR-CA, SHRM-SCP Program Chair Kim has extensive professional Human Resource experience, including over 20 years of management in the retail, pharmaceutical, sales, manufacturing, education and healthcare fields. Kim is a member of the national Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM) organization and has served on the Chester County Human Resource Association Board of Directors as the College Relations Chairperson from , President-Elect during , President during , Past-President and Special Events Chair In 2013, Kim was nominated for Delaware Valley HR person of the year in recognition of her strategic leadership and contributions to the Human Resource field in 2013 and She is a key member of the HR leadership team at The Renfrew Center where she Page 4

5 holds the title of VP, Human Resources. Past experience includes roles of VP, Human Resources at Bryn Mawr Trust, Director, Human Resources at Nobel Learning Communities, Inc. and the Associate Director of Human Resources role at YM Biosciences, Inc. (formerly Eximias Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) an international biotech company. Kim holds a Master degree s in Public Administration/Human Resources from West Chester University, SHRM -SCP certification and SPHR- CA certification. Kim has participated in the HR mentoring program at Villanova University and also participates as a guest instructor for the HR Master s program at Villanova University & West Chester University and is currently an adjunct professor at West Chester University teaching business students Principles of Management. Kim also volunteers her time and HR expertise at the Main Line Animal Rescue in Chester Springs, PA. Alexandra Freemen Publicity Chair Alexandra Freeman joined the Eastern Controls team in December of 2014 as the Marketing Coordinator. Her duties include event planning, social media, press releases, outside sales support, recruitment, and the development of the updated Eastern Controls website. Alex was promoted to Supervisor of the Marketing Department in December of 2016 and now manages a team of three. Alexandra works closely with the VP of Human Resources on internal and external communications for the company. She also attends job fairs on behalf of the company. Alexandra received a Bachelor s degree in Strategic Communication from Temple University. She has volunteered for 12 years at Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, was a Team Leader for the MDA Walk and a camp counselor for MDA Summer Camp. Maria Peterson, SHRM-SCP, SPHR Special Events Chair As Human Resources Manager, Maria is responsible for overseeing Kistler Tiffany Benefits HR services, policies, and programs for more than 100 full-time employees. She also provides support to KTB s clients in the form of consulting projects, including employee handbook evaluations, regulatory assessments, and on-site training. A seasoned HR professional, Maria has served in various HR positions for companies ranging in size and industry. Her breadth and depth of experience has proved crucial when it comes to assisting KTB with strategic planning and new initiatives for clients. Page 5

6 Maria is active within the local Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapters and is a past president and board member of the Chester County Human Resources Association. She is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, where she earned an MBA in Management and her bachelor s degree in Psychology. Laura LaBuda, MBA, PHR, SHRM-SCP Sponsorships Chair & Certification Liaison: Laura is a Senior Human Resources Manager, with experience working in Global Fortune 500 to small/mid-sized organizations in the Corporate, Healthcare, Insurance, Manufacturing and Service Industries. Laura is PHR Certified and has a Master s degree in Human Resources Development from Villanova University along with a MBA from Penn State University. Laura was a nominee for the Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year. She is a member of SHRM and has been actively involved in volunteering for various organizations. Anne Searl, SPHR,SHRM-SCP Workforce Readiness Chair Anne has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources Management with experience in the hospitality industry, the e-commerce/transportation industry, and most recently the non-profit charitable organization sector. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and attended West Chester University for graduate studies. She received her SPHR certification in 2011 and SHRM-SCP certification in She previously served on the CCHRA Board as Legislative Chair in 2012 and Public Relations Chair in In addition to her career in Human Resources, Anne serves on Borough Council for Chester Heights (PA) and is a Notary Public.
