5 Nature and Scope The County Extension Agent is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Extension educational programs in the county in accordance with the policies and procedures of Texas Cooperative Extension and under existing agreements between The Texas A&M System, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the County Commissioners' Court. The responsibilities of the County Extension Agent are performed in a professional manner through coordination and cooperation with other county staff members under the supervision of the assigned District Extension Administrator.
6 Major Duties and Responsibilities A. Planning Assumes responsibility for planning with committees, groups, and organizations to conduct educational programs and activities. Plans evaluation techniques for significant program activities. Plans regularly with the total staff to coordinate programming efforts. B. Implementation Assumes leadership responsibility in implementing the planned educational programs and activities in assigned program areas. Supports and assists in the implementation of educational programs and activities in program areas for which other staff members have assigned leadership responsibilities. Assumes leadership or serves in a supporting role in implementing emergency programs as need arises. Identifies, recruits, and trains local leaders to enable them to effectively perform their duties in committees, clubs, and organizations. Uses a variety of teaching methods, techniques, activities, and materials in conducting educational programs. Complies with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Affirmative Action Plan of Texas Cooperative Extension in conducting Extension educational programs. Works with and supports Extension-sponsored groups, such as 4-H clubs and Extension homemaker clubs, toward the achievement of increased participated and strengthened programs.

10 County Extension Agent 4-H & Youth Development Agent Name County
11 Nature and Scope County Extension Agent - 4-H is responsible for the educational and administrative leadership of a county 4-H & Youth Development Program. The leadership is exercised within the framework of policies and procedures of Texas Cooperative Extension, The Texas A&M University System, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and County Commissioners Court.
12 Major Duties and Responsibilities A. Planning Makes available 4-H programs in each county precinct, city/town and independent school district. Adapts educational materials to special youth audiences. Makes available project teaching guides for teaching youth life skills and scientific knowledge. Monitors and encourages experiential education in all projects. Collaborates with other youth serving agencies to develop programs for youth. B. Implementation Uses youth development and education research as a basis for program design, development and implementation. Develops with appropriate planning groups a variety of educational programs and learning experiences to address critical youth issues. Evaluates the effectiveness of projects and activities through effective survey instruments and interprets results to appropriate audiences. Use the program development process with the 4-H & Youth Development Committee. Provides appropriate information as a basis for decision-making by the 4-H & Youth Program. Coordinates the preparation of the annual Plan of Work for the county 4-H & Youth Program in cooperation with the 4-H organizations and the county Extension staff. Involves community and youth agency leaders in identifying critical youth issues and implement 4-H programs that can address appropriate issues. Arranges and provides for appropriate recognition for youth and volunteers. Develops and implements plans for educational experience for youth that foster the social, physical and mental development of youth.
13 County Coordinator Job Description Agent Name County
14 Nature and Scope The County Extension program is the responsibility of the total county Extension staff. To enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the county Extension staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating the Extension program, one county staff member will be appointed as county coordinator. The basic duties of the county Extension agent filling this role are to provide leadership for the personnel and programs in the planning unit. In addition, the county coordinator may be appointed by the District Extension Administrator to be responsible for managing the Extension office and for liaison with the county commissioners court with matters relating to office operation. Other duties assigned by the District Extension Administrator may be made a part of the duties of the agent filling this role. The county coordinator assumes the responsibility for the coordination of program development and office management with the full understanding and appreciation of the role, job, and position description of each member of the staff and with the realization that teamwork is essential in developing and executing an effective county program.
15 Major Duties and Responsibilities A. Personnel Confers with county Extension staff on job responsibilities and recommends approval to District Extension Administrator. Functions as reviewing official for performance of county Extension office clerical personnel. Responsible for coordinating the efforts of the county Extension staff in all aspects of Equal Employment Opportunity programs including documentation and coordination of special compliance reports as may be required. B. Fiscal Serves as liaison with county commissioners court at the discretion of District Extension Administrator on all matters relating to the county budget. Responsible for coordinating county staff inputs on county Extension budget requests and assists the District Extension Administrator in developing budgetary needs and budget support. Responsible for accountability of all funds subscribed and expended in the interest of Extension educational activities in the county.
