5 Opportunistic Cross-Docking Opportunistic cross-docking is a variant of cross-docking. When cross-docking, products that have arrived at the warehouse are brought from goods receipt directly to goods issue without being put away. Opportunistic cross-docking allows incoming deliveries to be redirected to cover outbound requirements. The cross-docking decision is made in Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), which is part of SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM), based on information available in the warehouse. Process SAP SCM Create putaway warehouse task Cancel pick-hu WT and replace it with crossdocking WT This business process runs in SAP SCM. 1. Create put-away warehouse task When the system creates a put-away warehouse task, it checks whether stock in open pick-handling unit warehouse tasks (pick-hu WT) is less adequate for an outbound delivery item than the stock to be put away. 2. Cancel pick-hu WT and replace it with cross-docking WT If stock in open pick-handling unit warehouse tasks is less adequate for an outbound delivery item than the stock to be put away, the system cancels the pick-handling unit 5

6 Result warehouse tasks and creates a new cross-docking warehouse task with reference to the same outbound delivery item. The goods are provided for delivery without put-away into stock. 6

7 Configuration Content for Opportunistic Cross- Docking with EWM Procedure 1. Activate an inbound-triggered cross-docking event. 1. In Customizing for SCM Extended Warehouse Management, choose Extended Warehouse Management Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) for Extended Warehouse Management Cross-Process Settings Cross- Docking (CD) Opportunistic Cross-Docking EWM-Triggered Opportunistic Cross-Docking EWM-Triggered Opportunistic Cross Docking Inbound BAdI: Activate and Adjust Inbound-Triggered Cross Docking Process. 2. For product group type CI, specify the product group OPPCD_INBOUND. 3. For product group type CO, specify the product group OPPDC_OUTBOUND. 5. Activate unplanned cross docking on warehouse level 7

In Customizing for SCM Extended Warehouse Management, choose Extended Warehouse Management Cross-Process Settings Cross- Docking (CD) Opportunistic Cross-Docking EWM-triggered opportunistic Cross-Docking Activate EWM-triggered opportunistic Cross-Docking. 2. Enter the CI product group type in the Pr.GrType CD In field. 3. Enter the CO product group type in the Pr.GrType Out. field. 6. Maintain stock removal strategy which includes the goods receipt area For more information, see Customizing for SCM Extended Warehouse Management under Extended Warehouse Management Goods Issue Process Strategies Specify Storage Type Search Sequence. 7. Maintain stock determination to support the warehouse task creation if the inbound stock type (for example, F2) is different from the stock type used at the final storage locations (for example, F1). 1. Define a stock determination group in Customizing for SCM Extended Warehouse Management under Extended Warehouse Management Cross-Process Settings Stock Determination Maintain Stock Determination Groups. 2. In the WM Handling field, choose WM has Priority. 3. In Customizing for SCM Extended Warehouse Management, choose Extended Warehouse Management Cross-Process Settings Stock Determination Configure Stock Determination. 4. Make the following settings: Field Warehouse Number Entry Enter your warehouse number Ent.toDisp (Party Entitled to Dispose) Activity Stock Determination Group Enter an activity that represents a goods movement (for example, PICK) Enter the stock determination group you create above. Sequence No. Stock Owner Stock Type Inbound Value The inbound stock type (for example, F1) Permitted Value Valuation The stock type use in final storage locations (for example, F2) Enter a point score to prioritize stock. Master Data 1. Assign the product group to the product (crate part) on the SAP Easy Access screen under SCM Extended Warehouse Management Extended Warehouse Management Master Data Product Maintain Product. 8
