II. What is TiPEEZ? "TiPEEZ" (TiPEEZ: Protection of NPPS against Tsunami and Post-Earthquake consideration in the External Zone), is a information system for the responding to an emergency which is considerate of earthquake and tsunami. 5
Background In 2004, JNES started the development of an information system for the purpose of the plant safety evaluation and information propagation after earthquakes. Development In the wake of the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, JNES developed the TiPEEZ for the reduction of tsunami damage to nuclear facilities based on the combination of tsunami analysis technique and an information technology. 6
Coping for the complex disaster that tsunami causes In the event a neighboring area is hit by a tsunami or earthquake and radioactive materials have spread: - It will be difficult to carry out the evacuation plan drawn up for only event of the nuclear hazards. - It is required that victims be evacuated to a safe area by the possible shortest route and the optimal transportation plan in consideration of damage to evacuation roads. The TiPEEZ system can work out an evacuation transportation plan taking into consideration areas rendered impassable due to the spread of radioactive dosage and road blockages due to collapsed bridges or landslides. 7
Configuration of TiPEEZ Offsite system - Computation of evacuation transportation plan taking into consideration dose areas and road blockages based on the seismic damage evaluation* - Delivery of computation result for the stakeholder * : In the TiPEEZ, plugging in the evaluation program made by the specialists of each adopting MS according to the needs of each MS. Earthquake damage estimation Offsite System Shelter data management Computation of the evacuation plan Emergency exercise NPP site System Radiation dosage assessment Inundation assessment Stakeholder System Data sharing and Display NPP site system - Inundation assessment of equipments - Quick dose evaluation based on the observed value from the monitoring post - Delivery of plant status and dose evaluation information for the stakeholder and Offsite system Stakeholder system - Display and reception functionality of analysis/evaluation results from the "Off Site System" and the "NPP Site System" Fig. Overview of the entire TiPEEZ 8
Tsunami Plant Safety evaluation When a tsunami occurs, TiPPEZ will select the most realistic analytical result from the analytical database, evaluate the plant s damage with the equipment database, and make visualized information. Fig. Overview of Tsunami Plant Safety evaluation 9

Customization of TiPEEZ - The first step toward customization based on the culture of each country is operation in its own language. - For example, considering future international cooperation utilizing TiPEEZ, it is possible for each country or institution to operate in its own language environment and to coordinate information when needed. Korean English Vietnamese Fig. Status display of TiPEEZ 12
III. Implementation of TiPEEZ TiPEEZ transferred countries and provision and support by JNES Table. 17 B. Software provision and activation support (1) Sample data preparation (Mar. 2009) - Sample data (Map data, sample input data etc.) supplied to India and Korea, as well as, the TiPEEZ editor in the 2nd StC. (2) Training on system installation and data preparation (Apr. 2009) - Provision of TiPEEZ data creation manual and data creation guidance/training course were carried out as scheduled. (3) Follow-up support for customization and data preparation (Nov. 2009) - Provision of customized TiPEEZ in which actual damage data input function based on the needs of India was specially added. 18 C. System application support (1) Planning support of emergency exercise ( ) - Emergency exercise plan was ascertained discussing with India and IAEA based on the features of the TiPEEZ. (2) Application to the emergency exercise in India (Feb. 2010) - Emergency exercise in the reference NPP held in 25 Feb, Using the TiPEEZ, information linking will be realized between NPP site and NPCIL Fig. Image of the emergency exercise Fig. Commemorative photo after the emergency exercise 17
VI. Conclusion In the Act.1 of IAEA Tsunami EBP, JNES transferred TiPEEZ for India and Korea. We carried out the implementation process for the autonomous operation in collaboration with the adopting member states. Anticipating further developments in the adopting member states where this system will be potentially practical used. In addition, If Asian countries (e.g. Vietnam) request us to introduce the TiPEEZ into your site, we can support you in the following frameworks.
