The experience and skills established over that time have enabled the development of a range that exceeds the regulatory standards of EN13795, provides high levels of comfort and incorporates design features that contribute towards smooth and effi cient surgery. To ensure the highest levels of protection are provided to patients and surgical teams, the testing undertaken for the full range of products goes far beyond that required to satisfy the Medical Devices Directive. Market leading performance is confi rmed by the testing of attributes including tensile strength, bursting strength, absorbency and spread, resistance to penetration and resistance to tearing. The comfort of the surgical team and the patient is a crucial consideration in the design of the Guardian range: the surface of the drapes is made from viscose rather than polypropylene and so has a softer feel as well as providing improved absorbency and liquid control. Use of high tech synthetic materials in the construction of the gowns means high levels of protection are achieved without the need for excessive thickness and uncomfortable heat retention. Colour coded collars and packaging help ensure selection of the gown that provides the correct level of protection for the procedure. Gowns are offered in four levels of protection allowing a more specifi c choice than just between High and Standard Performance. Fluid pouches are manufactured as an integral part of the drape and made for strength and reliability from heavyweight, clear PE. Drainage ports are designed to minimise the risk of blocking. Drapes have resealable line holders which securely hold diathermy lines and suction tubing but provide fl exibility - allowing lines to be released, repositioned and held again.
