The more organized you are, the quicker Drop Off will be! Gather your clothing in a pile beside you at the computer. It is easier to enter inventory in groups of like gender, like sizes and/or like categories. COMPUTER ENTRY There is an online tagging system = inventory management system = online database. All the same thing The online database is the place to start tagging. Go to our homepage, under Consignor heading, click on Consignor homepage. Click on New Consignor Registration if you are a new consignor or login using your consignor number and password. Click on "Work with My Consigned Inventory" Click on "Work with my Consigned Items" (add Items, edit already entered items, or delete items) 1. Select a Category 2. Select a Size 3. Write a Description of the item. There are 2 lines but keep it concise. (Ex line one: Gymboree. Line two: red/white/blue striped dress 4. Enter a Price. Minimum price is $.50 and are by $.50 cent increments. 5. Check the box marked Discount if you wish to discount your item. All discounted items will be 25% off Friday and 50% off Saturday. You are in control of what items to discount. Handwriting on tag to discount is not allowed. 6. Check the box marked Donate if you wish to donate this item to local charities if the item is unsold at the conclusion of the sale. 7. Click "Submit Item" button In Work with my Consigned Items, you can view 5 entered items at a time. These items may be edited. To view full list of inventory, check the small box next to By default, only the last 5 items entered show. Check here to display all items. All items in inventory will then appear. Any item can be edited. Click I m finished for now when you are done entering items.

2 Page 2 of 13 When you are ready to print tags. Click on Print all tags or Print Selected Tags. Select the items you wish to print. Tags will appear 10 to a page. You will need to enable cookies to print tags. Be sure you turn off any popup blocker you may have running. When you print tags they pop up in a new window for easy printing. If any information is changed AFTER printing a tag, or between sales, you MUST print a new tag. DO NOT handwrite anything on the tag. Please print tags using light colored cardstock. Cardstock can be purchased at any office supply store or Amazon.com No index cards or plain printer paper. Any item that does not have a tag or barcode cannot be sold. Items can only be sold by being scanned into the computer. For your benefit, you will want your tags to be secure. Incorrectly tagged items may be rejected. BARCODE EXPLAINED

3 Page 3 of 13 PREPARE YOUR ITEMS Clean, wash, iron, repair clothing. Gather loose parts of toys. Do what is necessary to ensure that your items are in excellent condition. Bring items you would consider buying yourself. CLOTHING Hang items with hanger hook facing left, like a question mark. (Example-?). Use wire hangers for clothing size 2T and up. Small plastic hangers may be used for infant through 2T. These hangers are not returned to consignors, consider using plastic disposable hangers that are sold with infant clothing. (picture with smiley face). Shirt and pant hangers with wire tops are acceptable (pictures with cloud).

4 Page 4 of 13 2-piece sets SUN: Hang the shirt with the hanger pointing to the left. MOON: On back side of hanger, hang pants/skirt facing outward. Place one pin on each side. HEART: You may pin loose accessories to the hanger, or place accessories in a Ziploc, and pin bag to hanger. DIAMOND: Infant through size 2T outfits work on drop hanger sets. TRIANGLE: You can use drop hangers for bottoms and place on wire hanger

5 Page 5 of 13 PLACEMENT OF TAGS All tags belong in the upper right hand corner of clothing on hangers. Use pins to fasten tag to clothing. If using a tagging gun, scroll down for instructions. *If a safety pin or tagging gun will damage fabric, such as plastic, leather or sheer fabrics, place price tag on the garment brand tag or garment size tag. Shown left. Tags do not belong in armpit of shirts.

6 Page 6 of 13 CLOTHING TIPS AND TRICKS Strappy clothing. Here are hangers to use. DIVISION SIGN PICTURE: This is a wire pant hanger. When pinned, the cardboard bottom prevents shoulder straps from slipping off the hanger. While acceptable, not ideal for cross back garments, use one of next two options. MULTIPLICATION SIGN: This plastic hanger has shoulder guides that lock the straps in place. This breaks the wire hanger rule. However, having a garment look great on a hanger keeps the warehouse well organized and easy to shop. Buyers appreciate the visibility and will buy an item that looks presentable rather than one that slips around, fell off and/or is lying on the floor! SO this hanging option is acceptable. PLUS SIGN: This is a shirt hanger; they are available in children s and adult sizes. They have a wire top and shoulder guides. Shoulder guides pull apart the width of the garment, locking the shoulders in correct locations. This is excellent for cross back and lightweight garments that shift around on a hanger. Heavy or saggy clothing This is a pant hanger. It has a wire top and clips. This pulls the waistband taught to prevent sagging. The pant hanger is best suited for: Maternity jeans, Adult size jeans and pants, strapless dresses, rayon, silk, and other slouchy type fabrics. Children s jeans in sizes Plastic pant hangers are acceptable when they make the garment look more presentable to buyers.

7 Page 7 of 13 Wide shoulder clothing: cowl neck, scoop neck, deep v-neck, etc. Some hangers come with removable stretchable grippers. They come in a variety of colors. Example one has a pink gripper. The garment will stick and not slide off. No pins are needed. Wire hangers with paper. Pin shoulders to paper. Works with pants too. Note: paper should be in fair to excellent condition. TAGGING GUN info@midwestkidsmarket.com Eliminating the pins and working with a tagging gun can be fun, easy and time-saving. Tagging guns are most economical when purchased online or through a store supplier. They range in cost from 8-15$. Most are sold with one needle. Additional packs of needles are sold for 3-5$. Fasteners or barbs will need to be purchased separately. These connect the tag to the item. In the following pictures the barbs are one-inch yellow from Store Supply Warehouse. They are purchased in bulk of 5,000 per box. They cost around 5$. For consignment, I prefer a regular tagging gun opposed to a fine tagging gun. Note: not all tagging guns and barbs are compatible. It is wise to buy them at the same time from the same company. Midwest Kids Market can place orders for you. for details.

8 Page 8 of 13 How to use a tagging gun: Assume the needle is preloaded and you know how to drop in the barbs. Find a seam. All barbs should be placed into a seam. A seam is the location/line where two pieces of fabric are sewn together. This particular shirt has several seams. Any of these locations are ideal. The collar when lifted has a concealed seam. The complete length of the shoulder is good. The arm has a complete seam all the way to the armpit.

9 Page 9 of 13 How to use a tagging gun cont. 1. Have printed tag ready. Have tagging gun loaded with barbs. 2. Punch hole in tag with tagging gun needle. Do not use a hole - punch on tag. 3 Option A. Place needle into seam and punch gun to secure tag with barb. 3 Option B. Place needle into seam and punch gun to secure tag with barb. 3 Option C. Place needle into seam and punch gun to secure tag with barb. Tag is attached and item is ready to sell.

A picture of how pants hang using a barb. Place needle through the front of the garment. Closer to the belt loop or slightly under will hide any hole from the needle. Next place needle over the top of the hanger. Last, punch hole through back waistband near belt loop. Hold tagging gun in place. Shoot tagging gun and release. *My personal note. Hanging bottoms with barbs or safety pins is a personal preference. I feel the tagging gun leaves too large a hole in knit bottoms. Save it for denim. Even so, when I pin denim to hangers I use very strong or very large safety pins to hold the weight.

11 Page 11 of 13 ACCESSORIES, CRAFTS, SMALL ITEMS and loose items should be in CLEAR zip-lock bags with tag placed visibly inside. Optional: if tag gets lost in the jumble of the items being sold, consider stapling the tag on the inside of the Ziploc so it is visible on the outside. OR Place tag on outside of original package with tape. BEDDING SETS (crib, twin, full) with multiple pieces should be packaged in a clear bag with a list of all items included on the tag. If full title does not fit on tag, write on the back of tag to help us locate parts to a set. Preferred method for comforters and blankets: hang flat on a durable coat hanger and attach tag to any visible corner. A photo of the set would really appeal to a shopper. BABY BLANKETS should be folded and placed in Ziploc bags with tag inside. SHOES Choice 1: Place shoes in a plastic bag and zip closed with tag in bag. Choice 2: Attach the shoes together with a zip/cable tie (purchased at hardware store or automotive store, shown below). Attach tag with a safety pin. Choice 3: Shoe boxes are allowed. Attach tag to either shoe in box. OR if correct box matches shoes, tape tag to box. *Boots rarely get lost from each other and are bulky especially with larger sizes. Use largest safety pin to secure together and attach tag. TOYS small or large should have all parts securely attached, with smaller parts in a Ziploc bag and then strapped to the item. In the tag description, note what parts are included. Print tag and tape to toy, or insert tag in the Ziploc bag. Test batteries are at checkout; however, if batteries operate the toy immediately, it will sell quicker.

12 Page 12 of 13 BOOKS can be priced individually or in sets. Tape tag to book. For multiple book sets, place into a Ziploc bag and close. Place tag with names of titles in bag. You will only use one tag per set. Several titles will not fit on the tag in the inventory management system. You may write titles on back of tag to help us locate missing books to a set. OR use double rubber bands around sets and tape tag on the front or back of set. It is important to us that safe products are offered to our shoppers, therefore each consignor is asked to carefully check that none of the items you plan to consign have been recalled prior to bringing them to drop off. As the owner/seller of the items, it is the CONSIGNOR'S RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that each item meets the required safety standards. Please ensure none of your consigned items have been recalled by visiting the Consumer Protection Safety Commission's website and choosing the appropriate item category or FIGHT PROCRASTINATION If you have a lot of items to sell, consider entering items in stages. For example, if you have 100 items, Enter 20, print those tags and attach them to your items. Next time enter 20 more, print those tags and attach them to your items. This way you won't feel so overwhelmed at having to print, cut and attach 100 tags all at once. Best advice: DON'T PROCRASTINATE! It is VERY important that you do not wait till the last minute to enter your items. Registration will close at Sunday at 6PM on sale week. Drop off appointments begin Monday of sale week. You will not be able to access your inventory after this time to add or make changes. ONLY printing of tags will be allowed after Sunday evening.

13 Page 13 of 13 Allow yourself time to enter items and print tags. During the sale you will be able to check your sales each night. Don t wait to tag your inventory!! WE DON T ACCEPT: Clothing that is out of date, stained, pilled, extremely worn, torn or with broken zippers. Stuffed Animals. Car seats, used bottle nipples, used bicycle helmets, cribs. Recalled items. If you happen to see one of these items at the sale, keep calm. It was submitted to and reviewed by the sale owner who gave permission and passed it. If the item has been recalled please report the item to the sale owner. In any case these are exceptions and not the rule- please do not take a passed item as a reflection of what is allowed.
