2 ICL INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS Dear customer! ICL Industrial Products (ICL-IP), the industrial chemicals division of Israel Chemicals Limited, is the world s largest producer of elemental bromine, supplying over 33% of global demand. The company is a leader in the production and marketing of bromine and bromine compounds, and phosphorus-based compounds which are a fundamental component of many products that enhance well-being and, ultimately, save lives. With a heritage dating back to the early 20th Century, ICL has maintained an unwavering focus on innovation, striving to achieve the highest standards across all aspects of our business. We believe that what sets us apart from others are: The quality of our people and our products The world s highest concentration of bromine is found in the Dead Sea, which provides a virtually unlimited supply. ICL-IP s highly skilled workforce uses the latest technologies to harness this rich natural resource, enabling us to produce bromine and bromine-based chemicals as well as minerals of the highest quality, in the most efficient manner. Furthermore, we have applied these skills and technologies to integrate the complementary chemistry of phosphorus, thus developing sustainable products with a broad variety of applications including flame retardants, plasticizers, hydraulic fluids, organic intermediates, water treatment, pharmaceutical chemicals, stabilizers, curing activators, viscosity enhancers, refractory materials, and so on. ICL-IP utilizes Total Quality Management, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies across all its plants worldwide to ensure consistent quality and to achieve improvements in its processes. Our unique approach to customer service ICL-IP is dedicated to meeting, and exceeding, our customers expectations. We offer the advantages of geographic proximity to major markets with internationally based subsidiaries coordinating the supply of finished products to the customers doorstep. We provide experienced technical support, and a workforce fully committed to quality and the protection of the environment. The scale of our production facilities and our integrated supply chain We are where our customers need us to be. ICL-IP s bromine compounds plants in Israel and the Netherlands, along with Sinobrom, a JV in China, offer customer-oriented manufacturing facilities based on long-standing technological expertise. Our market-leading phosphorus-based flame retardants, plasticizers, lubricants and hydraulic fluids, are produced in plants in the US, Germany and China. The company s worldwide marketing subsidiaries are: ICL-IP Europe B.V., The Netherlands; ICL-IP Israel Sales Office; ICL-IP America Inc., USA; ICL-IP Japan Ltd., Japan; ICL Asia Ltd., Hong-Kong; ICL China, PR China and ICL Brazil, Brazil. We serve hundreds of customers in five continents via an integrated supply chain which includes these production facilities and logistical centres, and a large fleet of unique transportation vessels, especially designed for the safest delivery of ICL-IP s products. Our commitment to upholding the highest environmental and safety standards Strict adherence to international regulations on safety and environmental issues are fundamental business practices at ICL-IP, whose major plants have been granted ISO and OHSAS accreditation for Environmental and Safety Management Systems. Beyond this, ICL-IP has actively initiated and developed a program to reduce environmental emissions through a code of good practice known as the Voluntary Emission Control Action Program VECAP. ICL-IP fully complies with the requirements of all regulatory systems worldwide for all its existing and new flame retardants, including the EU REACH regulation (EC 1907/2006) covering the Registration Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. ICL has recently developed SAFR, Systematic Assessment of Flame Retardants, a framework that provides a rigorous evaluation of specific flame retardants in their applications, thus enabling users to choose the most sustainable product for the intended use. As such, SAFR is committed to the sustainable management of chemicals from the very first stage of the product design. 3 Responding to the needs of markets and industries by constant innovation The Flame Retardant Business Unit takes an in-depth and long-term view of the plastic industry s supply chain, so that its products and solutions are directly responsive to each market segment s special needs and challenges. We continuously study and monitor the requirements and trends of these market segments, including those of supporting industries, which enables us to offer a valuable contribution to our customers by meeting their current needs and future requirements. ICL-IP R&D division translate these needs into new products and adapted solutions. Flame retardants for diverse applications Using the vast natural resource of bromine and minerals in the Dead Sea, ICL-IP produces a series of highquality flame retardant products, applicable to a wide range of plastics, polymers and polymer alloys. ICL- IP also offers the world s most comprehensive range of phosphorus-based flame retardants, fire resistant plasticizers and hydraulic fluids for high demanding applications. Bromine- and Phosphorus-based flame retardants are considered to be the two most efficient flame retardant families, constituting approximately 55% (in value) of total flame retardant usage. ICL-IP s portfolio also includes a few additional non-halogen and non-phosphorus based flame retardants such as high purity grades of Magnesium Hydroxide. SaFRon & TexFRon Series As part of the FR BU s focus on market needs, we have initiated a unique approach by developing tailormade solutions: SaFRon series for high demanding polyurethane foam applications. TexFRon series for high quality textile coating applications. Polymeric and reactive flame retardants the next generation Polymeric flame retardants are sustainable products complying with national and international human health and environmental regulations. They have long been recognised as the safest and most elegant flame retardants of high molecular weight man-made materials. Specifically, their beneficial qualities include: Non-leaching Due to their low solubility in water, once polymeric flame retardants are incorporated into the end-product plastic matrix, they become integrated with the plastic and leaching is not expected to occur. Non-bio-accumulative Their high molecular weight makes them unlikely to penetrate through the cell membranes of living tissues. Non-blooming They are not expected to migrate to the surface of the plastic during aging, thus eliminating any potential blooming in the finished product. ICL-IP is promoting a wide range of brominated polymeric flame retardants for various applications: FR-1025: brominated polyacrylate F-2000 series: brominated epoxy polymers with a wide range of molecular weight F-3000 series: end-capped brominated epoxy polymers with various molecular weights FR-803P: brominated polystyrene FR-122P: Brominated butadiene / styrene block copolymer TexFRon P, TexFRon 4000 Reactive flame retardants chemically react with the polymeric matrix in which they are incorporated and as such become an intrinsic, non- blooming, non-leaching part of the final article. Reactive flame retardants offered by ICL IP include: FR-1524(TBBA) for Printed Wired Boards FR-513(TBNPA) and SaFRon 6605 for rigid PU foams FR-522 (DBNPG) for UPE applications Fyrol 6, non-halogen FR for rigid PU foams and urethane elastomers.
