PURPOSE OF DIVISION/OFFICE: IR Australia is a legally separate and independent member of a global family of collaborating relief organisations that share a common vision, mission, and family identity, and all of which use the term Islamic Relief as part of their organisational name. Islamic Relief Australia is an active member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and adheres to the ACFID Code of Conduct which defines minimum standards of governance, management and accountability of development for non-government organisations (NGOs). PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT (Community Fundraising): To develop and implement strategies to increase the outreach of Islamic Relief Australia and its fundraising income through community engagement, the implementation of a range of fundraising initiatives, and through the acquisition, nurturing and retention of supporters. JOB PURPOSE: The main role of the is to provide fundraising expertise and capacity across a number of fundraising programs. The position holder will also ensure that Islamic Relief Australia s message is disseminated on a grass roots level to help create awareness, and as a result, instigate and support community activities to raise money for a specific cause. The success of this position will be evaluated on both the program outcomes this position has primary responsibility for and for value adding to programs for which this position does not have primary responsibility. In addition to the success measures outlined above, the position will also be evaluated on a range of nontangibles including a positive contribution to the cohesion of fundraising department and the organisation in general. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Works with the Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager, the Community Fundraising team, and other functions of IRAUS where relevant information resources and support is required. Works with existing local support groups and individuals to develop members or leaders of IRAUS volunteer teams. Works with the local IRAUS teams to motivate and influence new and potential local support groups. Liaises with local community representatives and other external stakeholders. SCOPE AND AUTHORITY Scope of the Role: 1. Actively recruit and develop a growing portfolio of prospects interested in developing into Islamic Relief Australia committed supporters. 2. Work across all teams to ascertain the adequate management of existing community fundraising prospects and ensure Islamic Relief Australia is developing a strong base of holistic support from the new and existing groups. 3. To ensure that fundraising activity implemented and managed locally delivers budgets, targets and income in line with IRAUS overall plans and strategies. 4. Recruit, co-ordinate and supervise volunteers and volunteer groups within the assigned locality/area. Take a volunteer-led approach in ensuring the effective delivery of fundraising activities locally and representing the organisation at fundraising and other events 5. Delegate appropriate logistical tasks to the Community Fundraising Officer in the local state and/or the Community Fundraising Support Officer. Also to resolve any related logistical issues, making sure that materials and equipment are available. The following are the main responsibilities that the role holder will be accountable for: 1. Plan and deliver fundraising initiatives at the local level Raise funds and awareness within the area through contact with mosques, schools, businesses, community groups and the general public. Establish and maintain contacts - donors, volunteers, local community leaders & external organisations. Identify and research local market - strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In conjunction with the Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager, assist in the development and maintenance of the Workplace Giving Program and, where appropriate, assisting with the liaison with external Workplace Giving providers. Investigate and develop new ways of raising funds. 2. Organise and coordinate fundraising and promotional events in their State. Ensure that local fundraising events, activities and collections etc. (including outreach collections) run effectively and are well planned, marketed and supported. Attend, promote & raise funds for Islamic Relief Australia at events organised by third parties. Assist in the coordination and implementation of national events when required. 3. Draw up and implement State-based plans Draw up and implement State-based annual/ campaign/activity plans with the Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager according to agreed objectives and budgets. Coordinate plans with other key personnel and volunteers. Anticipate and overcome potential problems. 4. Develop strong volunteer networks across the State Ensure volunteers are recruited to support Islamic Relief Australia s activities. Ensure all volunteers working with Islamic Relief Australia are properly registered, inducted, trained and developed. Maintain and update a volunteer database for their State. Oversee aspects of work where volunteers are involved. 5. Fulfil administrative duties in relation to responsibilities. Maintain an organised and accessible filing and documentation system. Fulfil all obligations and follow IRAUS financial policies and guidelines with regard to the collection and processing of donations. Oversee and assist in the bookkeeping and administration of the branch. Ensure relevant reports are completed within agreed time frames. 6. Attend events & meetings and ensure actions are followed up To participate in events & meetings requested by the Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager and others associated with the work listed above To ensure that decisions from any meetings or discussions are followed up. 7. Ensure Communication procedures are established and adhered to Respond to local enquiries from supporters and institutions about IRAUS s work. Liaise with management as required. Communicate with external organisations including the local media, local authorities, mosques, etc. and make presentations to audiences after seeking approval from the Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager. 8. Online Assist in the development of the Fundraising Team s online presence. Work with the Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager, and internal stakeholders, including the Marketing Coordinator, Graphic Designer, and other members of the Community Fundraising team to enhance the donor experience on the IRAUS website. Contribute to the development and implementation of online acquisition strategies including SEO, Google AdWords etc. Undertake other work related to the IRAUS online presence as identified. 9.
