Innovation and Project Context: The purpose of the Institute for Innovation and (i 3 ) is to provide dedicated resources, expertise and support for clinical teams to design and implement improved, innovative best models of care that ensure Waitemata DHB is a leader in health outcomes and patient experience through: Fostering discovery and dissemination of best practice and innovation Designing measurement systems and using data to guide improvement Applying sector integrated design thinking approaches and techniques to help create a culture of innovation and improvement Coordinating and delivering training programmes, including healthcare leadership and quality improvement training, designed to foster a culture of innovation and improvement Collaborating with clinical teams throughout the full range of project lifecycle from inception to implementation, organisational learning and beyond Purpose of the role: Work collaboratively with clinicians, managers and support services to delivermultiple care redesign innovation and improvement projects. using effective planning and prioritisation to manage a number of projects simultaneously Provide strategic planning, project leadership and management, change management, improvement, analysis and monitoring for selected projects Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Institute for Innovation and Project Manager Page 2
Innovation and Project Work with and support DHB teams leading care and service redesign innovation and improvement projects. The scope includes providing expertise and resources to clinicians, staff, patients, whānau and our community supporting them to: o design and implement new models of care and best practice o redesign aspects of service design to reduce waste, improve efficiency and effectiveness o enhance the experience for patients and their families/ whānau o develop business and options analysis and prepare business cases Provide expertise through advice, practical help and coaching on improvement methodologies, tools and techniques Work closely with data analysts and the Director of Analytics to develop effective data collection, analysis and display to support the achievement of successful projects and outcomes Share knowledge and experience of project management and improvement approaches Manage stakeholder relationships for each project Use population approaches, data and other evidence based strategies to assist with planning and delivery of service innovation and improvement projects Deliver improved performance in outcomes and experience for Waitemata DHB patients and their families/ whānau KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Strategic Planning Aligns project activities to ensure the overall project objectives are met Works effectively with key stakeholders and members of the wider project team to ensure the strategic objectives are consistent with Waitemata DHB s values, vision, priorities and strategy Develops and implements appropriate integration and implementation strategies, collaborating with relevant services to ensure maximal effect of the project Planning and Design Assists in identifying and /or scoping potential care redesign innovation and improvement projects and advises on project selection, resourcing and sustainability Possesses an in-depth understanding of the systems and processes that are being redesigned and the scope of work for each project Assists clinicians and other DHB staff to develop business cases to support care redesign Uses effective project planning to ensure goals, Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Institute for Innovation and Project Manager Page 3
