Job Description Job Title: Marketing Manager Responsible to: Head of Marketing Hours: 3 hours per week. Out of hours duty working including some weekends and public holidays is required. Works with/key contacts: Digital Manager/Digital Marketing Manager/Senior Graphic Designer, wider Marketing team, Fundraising team, Comms team, Ops team heads and managers, agencies including: media buying agency, media owners, creative suppliers, print contractors, market research agencies Location: London Responsible for: Senior Marketing Officer Duration: Fixed Term Contract 6-12months Maternity Cover Salary: 38,000 per annum. Context and background Battersea Dogs & Cats Home believes that every dog and cat should live in a home where they are treated with love, care and respect. At Battersea we rehome dogs and cats, reunite them with their owners and we work in the community to educate people about responsible ownership. We aim never to turn away a dog or cat in need, and we turn helplessness into hope for 8,000 dogs and cats every year. Battersea is one of the best-known charities in the UK-14 th in the Charity Brand Index 2016- and our Marketing Department leads on enhancing, growing and protecting the Battersea brand. We raise the Home s profile by devising and executing award-winning campaigns, and supporting the objectives of other departments including Fundraising, Communications and Operations. The Marketing team is responsible for delivering projects and promotional activity to help build the Battersea brand, market the animals in need of homes and help drive interaction, supporter participation, footfall and rehoming applications to all three sites. We make sure Battersea is positively represented across communications both on and offsite as part of wider campaigns and activities. Main purpose of the role To manage marketing activity for Battersea maximising all opportunities for engagement with target markets. Overall objectives Lead the Marketing team motivating and developing staff to achieve their full potential Maximise Battersea s profile, promote calls to action and encourage positive representation of the brand through the integration of on and offline marketing Help to increase campaign awareness and visibility thereby enhancing brand engagement and increasing rehoming rates, site visitation, donations and regular giving from target audiences via owned, earned and paid-for media channels Improve and track the visitor journey both on and offsite through market research Measure and analyse the impact of the Home s marketing success.
Responsibilities Responsibilities Working with the Head of Marketing to further develop the marketing plan to support campaigns, promotions, initiatives, events and appeals Planning campaigns including devising schedules and promotional briefs, overseeing production and creative development of concepts through to delivery Reporting on the effectiveness of the overall marketing programme ensuring analysis and evaluation is turned into actionable improvements Promoting and protecting the brand and helping teams across the organisation to improve the effectiveness of their marketing collateral Managing the Home s promotions via traditional marketing platforms both owned, earned and third party via sponsors, affiliates and corporate partners Managing the delivery and development of market research projects, distributing and acting upon results accordingly including developing an audience segmentation to maximise engagement and influence behaviour Managing promotional activity for the Home s satellite sites in Windsor and Brands Hatch and monitoring onsite visitor footfall and ticketing Working with other teams across the Home to manage and filter incoming briefs and progress workflows through to completion Supporting the Operations team to develop the visitor journey, processes and collateral to increase income generation, application and conversion rates Supporting the Communications department in developing campaigns and promotions to educate audiences and encourage responsible ownership Supporting the Direct Marketing team in developing fundraising campaigns and appeals including DRTV, SMS, solus, legacy and seasonal activity Supporting the Events and Community Fundraising team to promote recruitment and support for groups, events and challenges Supporting Volunteering and Fostering team to help recruit, retain and inform volunteers and fosterers Supporting the Commercial team to deliver new commercial and licensed products by providing advice and assistance at all stages within the NPD process Working to expand data capture to increase Battersea s supporter base through targeted communications to drive participation and financial response Monitoring other activity within the sector, current and future trends and identifying and investigating new marketing opportunities Approx % of time 1 < < < The above job description is intended to be an outline of the duties and responsibilities for this role. Accountable for the delivery of marketing promotion and collateral including print advertising Accountable for the relationships with stakeholders, media agencies, media owners, creative suppliers, contractors and other internal stakeholders Person Specification Essential Significant experience in managing marketing projects in a customer-focused organisation Proven experience of success in planning and delivering marketing campaigns with a proven track record of delivering results Proven experience of conducting audience research and presenting results with an understanding of customer segmentation Experience of managing staff and working as part of a team Experience of briefing design and media agencies, providing constructive feedback to arrive at a solid outcome Experience of strategy development with proven project management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A proactive, creative, solution-based approach with an eye for graphic design Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail Experience in implementing processes for monitoring, analysing and reporting on marketing activity Ability to demonstrate effective management of priorities, deadlines and budgets Excellent organisational capacity with a creative yet solid approach to problem solving The ability to represent Battersea with clarity and confidence to audiences and people at all levels. Desirable Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with a marketing qualification Experience of working with CRM applications, tailoring and managing content via an integrated CMS for specific audiences Sound knowledge of current and emerging marketing trends An understanding of the key animal welfare issues which are relevant to the work of the Home, as well as an empathy with the organisation s mission and values
