PURPOSE OF POSITION The key role of this position is to provide support to sponsors, ensuring that reporting and contractual obligations are met, in addition to managing the overall marketing and promotional activities of the organisation including website management and media liaison. This role provides a combination of working with core business clients, building and maintaining current relationships, along with identifying opportunities for new business. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Position Title of Supervisor: Position Titles also reporting to the Supervisor: Position Titles which report to this position: Chief Executive Officer Administration Manager Sport Services Manager Development Manager Development Officer Nil ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT OF THE POSITION Yachting NSW is a not for profit organisation responsible for the administration, promotion and advancement of the sport of sailing at all levels throughout NSW. Each state and territory in Australia has such a representative body, and these are sometimes referred to as MYAs, or Member Yachting Authorities, particularly in the Blue Book - the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing. All MYAs are separate entities, yet fall under the umbrella of Yachting Australia (YA), the national authority for yachting. We represent our members and the sailing community to ensure the waterways of NSW are as safe and well regulated as possible, and aim to ensure there are appropriate competition and recreational opportunities to allow all participants in the sport to achieve their goals.
Working closely with YA, we oversee the governance of the sport in our state, promote sailing, develop high performance programs and select state teams, distribute grants, and coordinate national and state events. This position is a new role and in partnership with Yachting NSW senior personnel, the Corporate Services Manager position is central to securing increased resources and to exceeding contractual obligations with the organisation s corporate partners. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Corporate Services Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Yachting NSW marketing and business development strategies including communications, PR, media, sponsorship, licensing and special events. This role plays an important role in maintaining and enhancing the image and profile of the organisation. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategy Development and Management Leads and manages the development of Yachting NSW s marketing, brand, sponsorship, licensing and communications strategy. Develop an overarching marketing and communications strategy and plan for Yachting NSW, its programs, teams and events. Develop brand enhancement strategies for Yachting NSW and the NSW Sailing Team Contribute to the organisation s strategic direction by participating in the development and continuous review of the Yachting NSW Strategic Plan. Prepare the annual operations plan and budget for all marketing activities. Marketing & Business Development: Lead and manage the implementation of Yachting NSW marketing and business development strategy. Ensure ongoing market research is conducted. Identify market place trends which may impact on Yachting NSW, its programs, teams and events. Manage the development and delivery of specific marketing campaigns. Integrate sponsors brand and marketing objectives across relevant Yachting NSW events, teams and programs. Oversee the project management of the annual NSW Yachting Awards and other special events. Brand Guardianship & Promotion Improve the market positioning of Yachting NSW by harnessing the power of the yachting brands In consultation with Yachting Australia, ensure all necessary legal registrations and protection means are in place for all Yachting NSW brands Develop new opportunities to enhance the value of Yachting NSW brands Ensure all brand applications are implemented in accordance with the Yachting Australia corporate identity guide Ensure that Yachting NSW values are reflected in all marketing and communications messages and that key suppliers and internal clients are articulating the brands correctly. 2
Sponsorship procurement and fulfilment Lead and manage the implementation of the Yachting NSW corporate sponsorship program On a regular basis, complete an audit of available sponsorship properties Coordinate the development of all proposals and the approaches to corporate partners and lead the negotiation of all appropriate agreements Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all major business partners Develop and implement sponsorship servicing plans for all Yachting NSW commercial partners Ensure all key personnel are knowledgeable about Yachting NSW sponsors, sponsor rights and activities Communications, Media and PR Develop and oversee implementation of clear strategies to improve the effectiveness of Yachting NSW communications activities Identify and develop PR opportunities for Yachting NSW, its programs, teams and events. Establish and maintain relationships with key media agencies and outlets. Coordinate the development and use of key external news vehicles including OnBoard, windward and the website. Support key personnel with the development of materials for publication. Ensure stakeholders are fully informed through media releases and website maintenance. Stakeholder & Membership Relations: Assist Yachting NSW to optimise enduring and co-operative relationships with its key partners In conjunction with the Chief Executive support agreed strategies to ensure effective communication with affiliated clubs, affiliated classes and Yachting Australia Training Centres. Manages the implementation of agreed special projects that will enhance the profile and performance of Yachting NSW. Represent the Chief Executive Officer on relevant internal and external committees as required. MAJOR CHALLENGES OF THE POSITION Identifying potential partnerships and creating relevant and attractive packages to secure their support. Maximising partnerships to ensure long term relationships. Be well informed of issues affecting the sailing and maritime industries and government departments (particularly the Ministries covering Sport, Recreation, Maritime, Education and Training). Negotiating and consulting with a wide range of agencies from the public and private sector. Creating a strong image, brand and reputation that strengthens the position of Yachting NSW amongst our internal and external stakeholders. DECISION MAKING The Corporate Services Manager is expected to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes under tight deadlines and pressure. The position is required to prepare proposals and contracts and negotiate these through to a successful conclusion. In consultation with the Chief Executive Officer, the position identifies and determines benefits to all partnerships. 3

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Organisational and Contextual Knowledge An understanding of the sport, recreation and maritime industries and emerging trends and issues. An understanding of the services and activities undertaken by Yachting NSW. Knowledge and experience of sailing as a recreational and competitive activity. Ability to achieve predetermined performance targets Knowledge and ability to provide quality customer service. Knowledge and understanding of how the principles of EEO, OH&S, and ethical practice apply to service delivery. Knowledge in marketing and experience in the effective promotion of activities and services. Communications Experience in the effective delivery of presentations to government, corporate and community organisations. SELECTION CRITERIA ESSENTIAL 1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field; for example, Marketing, Sports Administration, Business Administration, Management. 2. Substantiated experience in the development and maintenance of innovative corporate partnerships to the benefit of the organisation. 3. Proven ability and substantiated experience in the leadership and management in the development of an organisational marketing, brand, sponsorship, licensing and communications strategy, preferably in a sport. 4. Strong organisational and administrative skills and a proven ability in determining priorities, making sound judgements, coordinating activities and meeting deadlines without supervision. 5. Well developed oral and written communications skills (including presentation and report writing) and the ability to communicate to all stakeholders at any level. 6. Proven ability to work in a team environment in accordance with sound management practices. 7. Able to travel both inter and intra-state when required. 8. A demonstrated commitment to ethical practices, OH&S, EEO and anti-discrimination. 9. High level computer skills including the full suite of Microsoft Office programs and database management. 10.
