Working in partnership with the Alacrity Foundation, Falmouth will deliver this proven entrepreneurship model for the first time in England, and for the first time in the creative industries. Alacrity Falmouth will mentor and train the brightest and best graduates to create a new generation of high-growth digital games companies based in Cornwall. The programme will provide an intensive training environment to enable graduates to launch their own new companies. Through high-quality training, expert mentoring and close work with industry partners, participants will be prepared to run a successful high technology company. They will also have to opportunity to complete an MBA. Alacrity Falmouth has attracted funding from ERDF for a one year pilot programme, with the expectation that its success will lead to its extension and expansion. This post is part funded by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Convergence Programme. Job purpose: - Alacrity Falmouth is seeking to appoint an interim Project Manager for three months. The Interim Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and completing key tasks in preparation for the start of the project s delivery phase, and will ensure sufficient progress is made while a permanent project director is appointed. Main duties and responsibilities: - The Interim Project Manager s key deliverables are summarised below:
1. Project Management and planning The Project Manager will provide regular reports to the Steering Group. They will produce an interim project plan, ensuring key milestones and interim targets are met. They will manage the relationship between Alacrity Falmouth and the Alacrity Foundation. 2. Budgets and finance The Interim Project Manager will be responsible for managing the project within the set budget. They will ensure that all expenditure is recorded correctly, that procurement is completed within ERDF guidelines and is therefore eligible for ERDF claims. 3. Marketing, communications and PR The Interim Project Manager will lead on building relationships with both mainstream and sector-specific media. They will draft an interim marketing plan to attract both students and industry partners to the project. 4. Student recruitment The Interim Project manager will lead the recruitment of graduates, ensuring that the programme attracts high quality, motivated graduates with the potential to achieving the desired business results. 5. Course validation and content Alongside the existing academic team, they will develop the course structure and design. 6. Commercial relations They will act as the prime contact for key industry partners. Using their networks and industry knowledge, the Interim Project Manager will be proactive in building close relationships with the digital games sector to create new business opportunities for Alacrity Falmouth. 7. Estates and IT The Interim Project Manager will lead the plan create the office space for Alacrity Falmouth staff and students. They will research and recommend appropriate hardware and software for Alacrity Falmouth staff and students, including specialist digital games development platforms. 8. Management of staff To manage Alacrity Project Administrator reporting to the Interim Project Manager within the framework of the University s HR Policies, Procedures and Practices, including induction, performance management, appraisal and development. General duties and responsibilities 9. To work within and actively support the equality and diversity policies and practices of Falmouth University. 10. To notify a more senior member of staff of any errors or concerns at the earliest opportunity. 11. To participate in the annual Performance Development Review process. 12. To ensure that the university s cross-cutting themes of partnership, equality and diversity and sustainability inform all activity related to the role. 13. To ensure communications systems and practices support effective management arrangements and promote good relations with staff and students. 14. To work within a framework of effective governance, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, legislation/policies and procedures. 15. To undertake other duties not specifically stated above, which from time to time are necessary for the effective performance of the University s business without altering the nature or level of responsibility involved. Significant project management experience and proven track record of delivery of projects within deadlines and to budget. Substantial direct commercial experience gained in the digital games sector and proven track record of success in digital games at a management level. A postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area. Project management qualification. Previous experience of supervising staff. High quality and current network of relationships and contacts in the digital games sector and professional practice. An up-to-date knowledge and understanding of changing trends and requirements in the subjects industrial and professional domains. Understanding of the primacy of income generation, particularly via successful student recruitment, and alive to opportunities to increase income.
