1.0 ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited view ur envirnmental respnsibilities as a key part f ensuring we run an effective business in cmpliance f all current envirnmental legislatin. We are aware that envirnmental issues are becming ever mre imprtant and necessary t maintain. T this end we strive t perate in the mst envirnmentally friendly way practical. T d this we will make the fllwing prvisins: Prvide adequate cntrl f waste and envirnmental impact arising frm ur wrk activities. Cnsult with ur emplyees n matters affecting the envirnmental issues f the rganisatin. Prvide and maintain effective and efficient plant and equipment. Ensure crrect and safe strage, handling use and dispsal f substances. Prvide infrmatin, instructin and supervisin fr emplyees. Prevent accidental release f substances int the envirnment. Maintain envirnmentally friendly wrking cnditins Review and revise this plicy as necessary and at regular intervals. T wrk tward cntinual imprvement in envirnmental issues T ensure pllutin preventin as far as reasnably practicable Emplyees and sub-cntractrs wh wrk with us have a duty t c-perate in the peratin f this plicy by fulfilling the respnsibilities placed upn them. 2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES Overall and final respnsibility fr the envirnmental issues is that f the Managing Directr. Day t day respnsibility fr ensuring this plicy is put int practice is delegated t all managers and wrkers f Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited including the Safety C-rdinatr. T ensure envirnmental standards are maintained r imprved, the fllwing peple have specific respnsibility in the fllwing area: The Managing Directr has the respnsibility t ensure that all plant and equipment bught by Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited cnfrms t envirnmental requirements. This includes ensuring that the envirnmental requirements f ur clients r hst rganisatins are knwn t all Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited peratives and that these are adhered t. These duties may als be delegated t the Safety C-rdinatr. Office Managers must ensure the prvisin f adequate facilities t enable all staff t undertake their wrk with the minimum impact n the envirnment. Supervisrs are respnsible fr arranging fr the prper strage, use and dispsal f materials and equipment. They als have the respnsibility f supervising wrkers n site, and in any wrkshps. Drivers must cmplete daily checks f vehicles, and ensure the prmpt reprting f any envirnmental issues such as leaks, excessive use f fuel r pr exhaust emissins. Wrkers are t ensure areas are well rganised, and reprt any envirnmental issues t their Supervisr and Safety C-rdinatr. In additin, all emplyees must: C-perate with Supervisrs and Managers n envirnmental safety matters. Nt interfere with anything prvided in the interests f safeguarding the envirnment. Take reasnable care f the envirnment. 3.0 ARRANGEMENTS 1 The success f ur envirnment management system requires the invlvement f all the peple wh wrk with and fr Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited. We actively encurage cmmunicatin between all f the peple we deal with and welcme feedback f ur system abut ur perfrmance and hw we can imprve it. Envirnmental issues are a tpic f ur Directrs Bard Meeting. Managers are available fr emplyees t speak t regarding envirnmental matters. All wrkers have the pprtunity t discuss envirnmental issues with the Safety C-rdinatr. He has the verall respnsibility fr envirnmental matters. In the event f any wrker f Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited wishing t raise any issues r discuss any item regarding envirnmental matters they feel culd be better dealt with cnfidentially r impartially, they have free access t ur independent advisers. 2 Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited accepts that the envirnment is a dynamic and ften cmplex subject. The feedback frm the Managers and wrkers f ther rganisatins will be cnsidered. Clients are welcme t mnitr ur envirnmental perfrmance n their prjects at any time. They are requested t enter wrking areas nly when accmpanied by a member f the Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited management team. 4 When purchasing materials, prducts r energy surces, the persn respnsible will cnsider and endeavur t use envirnmentally friendly services. 5 We will endeavur t emply the fllwing hierarchy f actins when managing materials n prject: i. Re-used n site ii. Re-used ff site n anther site iii. Recycled fr use n site iv. Recycled fr use ff site v. Dispsal t recycling facility vi. Dispsal t WML exempt site vii. Dispsal f landfill. 6 In a bid t address scial and envirnmental issues we aim t: Minimise disturbance caused by sites t their immediate neighburhd. Eradicate ffensive behaviur and language frm sites. Recgnise and reward the cntractrs cmmitment t raise standards f site management, safety and envirnmental awareness. 7 Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited seeks t achieve and maintain high standards f envirnmental perfrmance thrughut ur peratins in a manner that prmtes the fllwing: Cmpliance with Envirnmental Legislatin, Regulatins and Byelaws, The selectin and use f resurces frm renewable stcks where practically pssible, Preservatin, as far as is practical, f the natural envirnment, Cntinuus imprvement t envirnmental perfrmance. 8 We will achieve these aims thrugh a variety f actins. Our Managing Directr, Safety Crdinatr and ther designated staff as appinted, will: Assure respnsibility fr the implementatin and c-rdinatin f this plicy. Ensure that sufficient resurces, including cmpetency, time and finances are made available fr the effective implementatin f this plicy. Include the aims f this plicy int the Management System. Mnitr prgress against agreed targets. Seek t cntinuusly imprve envirnmental perfrmance. Ensure that emplyees cmply with envirnmental legislatin, bey the site rules f hst rganisatins and develp a gd wrking relatinship with the regulatry authrities. Cmmunicate with suppliers and cntractrs t ensure that they perate sund envirnmental practices. Imprve envirnmental awareness amngst ur emplyees and custmers. Cnserve resurces thrugh an nging energy efficiency prgramme. Reduce waste3 generatin in all areas f the business and be fully cmmitted t the preventin f pllutin. Ensure that any hazardus materials are replaced with less envirnmentally damaging alternatives where practicable. Maintain an pen and effective relatinship with the lcal cmmunity. 9 Hazardus waste will be identified and dealt with in accrdance with apprpriate legislatin. 5 Envirnmental Plicy: Ashlar Cnstructin (NW) Limited Rev 001 January 2017

10 Waste electrical equipment will be identified and dealt with accrdance with WEEE Regulatin. 11 Where gds are packaged the cmpany will cmply with the Packaging Regulatins and reduce the envirnmental impact f packaging and packaging waste. 12 Where pssible batteries will be recycled in accrdance with the Eurpean Directive in preparatin fr the develping legislatin. 13 Only thse Sub-Cntractrs wh display a cmmitment t reducing envirnmental impacts will be engaged. 14 While we will make every effrt t avid incidents r emergencies we recgnise that such events can ccur. We have set in place the fllwing prcedure fr all incidents: In the event f an envirnmental incident, a detailed reprt will be cmpleted by the Manager r Supervisr f the site and frwarded directly t the Managing Directr withut delay. Where there are issues that may adversely impact n the envirnment the cmpany will raise the cncern with Curtley (Health & Safety) Ltd, wh will advise n a suitable prcedure. The incident and the effects will be reprted at the next directrs meeting. 15 The cmpany will review the use f water t ensure that it is minimised. Taps are nt t be left running when nt in use. 16 We will cnsider energy efficiency n a regular basis. Any suggestins fr imprvement will be incrprated int wrking practices and the cmpany plicy. 17 The envirnmental impact f plant, vehicles and transprtatin will be cnsidered and reviewed n a regular basis. All transprtatin and plant will be well maintained t ensure efficiency. Where pssible, fuel efficient vehicles will be purchased. 18 The Managing Directr has final respnsibility fr this Envirnmental Plicy and systems. He is cmmitted t and actively supprts the implementatin f effective envirnmental management systems and prcedures. 19 The cmpany will nt cntaminate any grund and ensure that any cntaminated grund will be dealt with in accrdance with legislatin and best practice. 20 We will mnitr ur envirnmental plicy and its implicatins fr the scheme. Usually we will lk at the fllwing issues: Is there an issue regarding nise? Shuld we be using silent generatrs? Are any prcesses very dusty? Shuld we use water dampening techniques? D we need a daily rad cleaning n the entrance and in the vicinity, due t the nature f the wrks? Prviding separate skips fr recyclable waste. Minimising transprt t sites by using crew buses and emplyment f lcal labur where pssible.
