Chemica resistance Atro Fexifow affords resistance to a range of commony used chemicas. However, premature contact with chemicas (incuding water) during the curing process may give rise to discoouration, foaming, staining and variation in goss. In a cases of chemica spiage, it is essentia that the spiage be immediatey removed and the surface washed down with cean water, removing water by wet vacuum after operation. Athough some chemicas may cause discoouration, this may not affect the durabiity and integrity of the resin. Pease refer to Atro and FeRFA guidance Note No.3 for further information. Packaging Atro Proof standard variant is avaiabe in a 6kg, two-part composite pack. Atro Fexifow cassic body coat is avaiabe in a 25kg and 11kg, two-part composite pack. Storage Ensure that the product is received in good order and store in a dry, frost free environment, ideay between 15 C and 20 C for at east three days before appication. It is important to maintain the temperature during storage; ow temperature storage wi adversey affect the product appication. Excessivey high and ow storage temperatures wi affect the appication and performance of the product. Store in a dry pace and avoid storage in direct sunight. Suitabe substrates Atro Fexifow may be appied to a variety of substrates incuding, but not imited to, concrete, poymer-modified cementitious screeds, terrazzo, 25mm marine grade pywood (consut Atro for further guidance). For a proprietary subfoor systems refer to the manufacturer for recommendations and seek further guidance from Atro. FeRFA, The Resin Federation, does not recommend Cacium Suphate, Anhydrite or Hemi-hydrite screeds for overayment with synthetic resin surfaces. Substrate requirements Substrates shoud be dry, structuray sound and free from contamination, friabe materias or aitance which may affect either the adhesion or penetration of the resin system. A residues of od paint coatings and dust must be removed. In genera substrates shoud achieve a surface tensie strength 1.5N/mm² (BS EN 13892-8). Substrates must incude an effective damp proof membrane and contain residua moisture not greater than 5% by weight (75% R.H.) to (BS 8203). Underfoor heating systems and service pipes shoud be instaed within a weight bearing screed ayer in accordance with BS EN 1264-4, Type A. The screed shoud be cementitious and of sufficient strength to withstand a structura, therma and mechanica stresses and oads that wi occur during service. After the screed has reached the strength requirement, the underfoor heating must be commissioned for a minimum of 7 days in accordance with BS EN 1264-4 and BS 8204-1. The heating must be tested and restricted to a maximum surface temperature of 27 C (BS 8203 and BS 5325).The underfoor heating must be turned off for at east 48 hours before and after the instaation. Thin-bed synthetic resin systems foow the surface of the substrate, so it is essentia that the surface reguarity of fatness conforms to or exceeds (BS 8204.2) cass SR1 (+/- 3mm under a 2 metre straight edge). Any deviation from this may require oca repairs, mechanica preparation or a surface improver to be appied which must be suitabe to receive a resin overay. Pease consut Atro or FeRFA guide to the specification and appication of Synthetic Resin Fooring for further information. Substrate preparation Surface preparation is the most vita aspect of resin fooring appication. Inadequate preparation wi ead to oss of adhesion and faiure. The substrate in question wi dictate the method of preparation. In the case of a concrete foor, preparation by dust encosed diamond foor grinder may be appropriate, or if of a sufficient area for economic reasons, shoud be ighty shot basted to eave a textured surface free from contamination. If the foor has been treated with a cementitious surface improver, then the surface shoud be prepared in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations, or abraded with an STR machine foowed by thorough vacuuming. Treatment of oca repairs such as cracks and hoes, improvement or modification of eves and remova of high spots, shoud be undertaken prior to the fooring instaation. Appication onto cod substrates, particuary with rising ambient air and sab temperature, can give rise to pinhoes in the finished system. If the ambient temperature rises during appication causing out-gassing, micro pockets of air in the concrete substrate expand and are dispaced through the resin during curing. Ambient and substrate temperatures shoud be raised to stabe conditions prior to instaation, and kept constant during appication. Pease consut Atro or FeRFA s guide to the specification and appication of synthetic resin fooring for further guidance.

Smaer units are avaiabe and shoud be used when working in smaer or more detaied areas to assist with working ife. The materia usage is dependent upon temperature, surface profie and porosity; stated coverage rates shoud be referred to for guidance ony and cannot be reied upon to determine exact quantities. Athough stringent quaity assurance processes are empoyed, when coour consistency is required, a singe batch shoud be used. Panning Before proceeding with the instaation, carefu consideration shoud determine the best way of instaing the Atro resin system. Efforts shoud be made to minimise day joints and optimise the open time of the product (i.e. minimise the distance between mixing and aying). It is best to aso consider the effect of externa infuences on the fina instaation (i.e. direction of ight from windows etc.). Time spent at this stage wi be invauabe towards the success of your instaation. The Atro Fexifow cassic foor system is designed to be aid at a minimum 2 mm thickness. Lower thicknesses wi refect any imperfections or defects. Atro recommend that stainess stee mixing, aying and appication toos are used in this process. Meta transfer from mid stee toos may resut in discoouration of ighter coours which wi be unacceptabe to your customer. Pease note: depending on coour seection and ighting source evidence of roer marks may be visibe in the finished foor. Pease contact Atro for further guidance. Joints Atro Fexifow is designed to accommodate movement and can be appied over day joints and stabe substrate fractures, within certain toerances. For appication over buiding expansion joints, detais of percentage eongation may be required; these can be provided by the appointed structura engineer. In genera where joints are over-aid then these shoud be routed out, fied with an appropriate joint backing materia and fied to the eve of the substrate using Atro Fexifow. A structura movement joints in the subfoor must be continued through to the resin foor surface. In a instances the type and positioning of movement joints shoud be agreed at the design stage between a parties concerned. The pacement, dimension, frequency and types of joints shoud be determined by the buiding designer. Appication The foowing appication guide is based on aboratory and simuated site conditions. However, when instaations conditions differ appreciaby from those detaied by Atro, the performance characteristics of both mixing and aying may change. To achieve the best resuts at a times pease endeavour to estabish the correct conditions which in turn wi aow the materias to be aid effectivey, and meet your customer s expectations.

Instaation conditions Appy in we ventiated areas. Both the sab and air temperature shoud be between 15 C and 20 C. It is not advisabe to mix and ay resin products outside the range 10 C to 25 C. Ambient conditions shoud be maintained at east 3 C above dew point or beow 75% R.H. during the initia stages of cure. At site temperatures beow 10 C cure times wi be substantiay increased uness some form of externa heating is used. It must be recognised that the concrete sab temperature wi generay be ower than the air temperature, often as much as 10 C, and this wi govern the rate of cure. As the resin fooring cures, in condensing conditions moisture vapour may condense onto the surface and cause surface defects incuding structuring, pinhoes, foam etc. Do not ay Atro Fexifow on a raising thermometer as this can give rise to pinhoes. Raise the substrate and air to a stabe temperature prior to appication and maintain the temperature of the substrate during appication. Mixing equipment Sow speed dri (200-500rpm), such as MM17 * Mixing padde, such as MR4 size (70-80mm Ø) 3-15kg size (90-100mm Ø) 6-20kg size (120mm Ø) 15-25kg * A too number references reate to Refina Ltd 01202 632 270 Priming the substrate In order to achieve a uniform finish, prevent bubbes and maximise substrate adhesion the appropriate primer shoud be used. For substrates ess than 75% RH, (BS 8203) Atro Proof standard variant shoud be used. For porous substrates ess than 75% RH a two coat primer system is recommended comprising Atro Prime consoidating (a ow in viscosity penetrating primer) foowed by a singe coat of Atro Proof standard variant. For substrates with greater than 75% RH, (BS 8203) two coats of an effective damp proof membrane Atro Proof standard wi be necessary. The appropriate Atro primer shoud be appied in accordance with the product datasheet. Aways use site overshoes when working on the primer. Any contamination of the primer surface wi cause surface imperfections of the Atro Fexifow. Do NOT seed the primer with aggregate, experience shows that this can ead to pinhoes from entrapped air. Ensure that the substrate is we seaed and that a hungry areas are addressed before proceeding to insta the system. If the over-coating time period for the primer is exceeded, the surface shoud be ighty abraded and vacuumed before further coats are appied. On unstabe substrates a fexibe primer shoud be used. Product instaation primer Use a sow speed dri and padde MR4 mix the base coour for 30 seconds. Pour a of the hardener into the base and mix for a further 4-5 minutes. Ensure the materia is fuy mixed around the sides and bottom of the container. (Vigorous mixing shoud be avoided as this can ead to bubbes and pinhoes). If the mixing area is not adjacent to the aying area the time required to transfer the mixed materia wi reduce the open instaation time. When fuy mixed, immediatey pour a the mixed materia onto the foor in a ribbon. Use a 2mm x 5mm notched trowe or dense foam rubber squeegee to distribute the materia eveny then use a ow-oss medium pie synthetic roer that has been pre-wetted with Atro Proof standard variant to uniformy and fuy treat the surface. Check that sufficient materia and the minimum thickness has been appied. Aow the Atro Proof standard variant to cure and carefuy inspect the appied fim for defects i.e. pinhoes and areas of under thickness. If necessary, appy additiona Atro Proof standard variant ocay. Aow the system to cure for a minimum of 18 hours at 20 C, but no onger than 24 hours at 20 C before overcoating. Any defects in the primer ayer wi aways refect through and shoud be treated prior to the appication of the Atro Fexifow. Remember to aways use the correct PPE. Atro Fexifow cassic Appy the Atro Fexifow cassic body coat onto the primed area after a minimum of 18 hours at 20 C since the primer was instaed, but not onger than 24 hours at 20 C. Using a sow speed dri and mixing padde MR4, thoroughy mix together the base for 30 seconds. Pour a hardener contents into the base bucket and mix for a further 1 minute. Transfer the mixed base and hardener to another bucket and mix for a further 1 minute. Excessivey vigorous mixing shoud be avoided as this can ead to undesirabe air entrainment. Care shoud be taken to ensure that any materia adhering to the sides, bottom and corners of the mixer is thoroughy bended in. Immediatey decant a of the contents of the mixing vesse onto the foor over the approximate area to be covered and spread to the desired depth using a cean stainess stee trowe or pin rake set at the desired depth. Do not eave any materia in the bucket. This wi impair the eveing and de-aeration properties. Spike roer the area immediatey, NOT beyond 15 minutes at 20 C. Do not exceed this time between gauges. Avoid buid up on the spike roer and change reguary. Care shoud be taken to ensure the mixing vesse is kept free of any buid-up of contaminants which coud fa off and contaminate the foor. The mixing area shoud be directy adjacent to the aying area, the time required to transfer the mixed materia wi reduce the open instaation time. A arger team may be necessary. Remember to aways use the correct PPE.

Atro Fexifow top-coat Atro Fexifow requires a doube top-coat system. The first cooured top-coat and the second cear top-coat together provide maximum durabiity and resistance to stains and scuffing. Any defects in the Atro Fexifow cassic shoud be made good before the appication of the Atro Fexifow top-coat. For optimum performance the surface shoud be ighty abraded to remove the surface goss before the appication of a top-coat. Excessive surface profie or areas that have previousy been made-good may require an additiona cooured top-coat. This can be achieved using a ow speed dry autoscrubber fitted with a green Scotchbrite 3M pad. This wi provide the most integrity and uniformity of the system. Any dust and debris shoud be removed from the surface to be coated. Avoid using sovent for this process. Other means of preparation may resut in excessive surface profie, this shoud be minimised and controed. Appy the first top-coat after 18 hours and not more than 24 hours after the appication of the bodycoat. Using a suitabe dri and mixing padde fuy mix the base first to incorporate the pigment before adding the hardener. Add the hardener and thoroughy mix for 1 minute. Excessivey vigorous mixing shoud be avoided as this can ead to undesirabe air entrainment. If using Atro Fexifow sip-resistant top-coat pour in the sip resistant additive and fuy incorporate using a mixing padde for a further minute. Work efficienty to cover the entire surface at a rate of (80g/m 2 ) using a de-fuffed short nap microfibre roer that has been sufficienty pre-wetted. Appy the product to the foor from a paint scutte, keeping a wet edge at a times. Lapping time shoud be minimised (6 8 minutes at 20 C / 50% RH) making sure to maintain a wet edge. Be carefu not to form puddes. Aways ensure there is sufficient air fow and sufficienty ow ambient reative humidity (< 60% RH) to aow drying. Inspect the cooured coating for defects and if necessary another appication may be required. Appy a second cear coat after 18 hours and not more than 24 hours after the appication of the first. Using a suitabe dri and mixing padde fuy mix the base first before adding the hardener. Add the hardener and thoroughy mix for 1 minute. Excessivey vigorous mixing shoud be avoided as this can ead to undesirabe air entrainment. If using Atro Fexifow sip-resistant top coat pour in the sip-resistant additive and fuy incorporate using a mixing padde for a further minute. Work efficienty to cover the entire surface at a rate of (60g/m 2 ) using a de-fuffed short-nap microfibre roer that has been sufficienty pre-wetted. Appy the product to the foor from a paint scutte, keeping a wet edge at a times. Lapping time shoud be minimised (6-8 minutes at 20 C / 50% RH). Be carefu not to form puddes. Aways ensure there is sufficient air fow and ow ambient reative humidity (< 60% RH) to aow drying. Aways use soft soed shoes with site overshoes when working on the Atro Fexifow cassic and Atro Fexifow top-coat to avoid damaging the surface. When appying Atro Fexifow top-coat, the ambient temperature and humidity are of importance. High humidity in combination with ow temperatures sows down the drying process. After appication, the surface shoud be protected from direct contact with water for a minimum of 24 hours. Enough time shoud be given to aow the Atro Fexifow top-coat to reach its fu chemica cure. Physica drying of the surface aone is not indicative of the fu cure properties incuding wear and chemica resistance. Remember to aways use the correct PPE. Protection Whist of an extremey durabe nature these foor systems must be thoroughy protected from the rigours and abuse that exist during the ongoing contractua works. The resin foor shoud reach fu chemica cure in 7 days at 20 C. Untreated fet paper wi suffice as protection from ight traffic, however if protection is required from other trades then the foowing protection option shoud be considered. Where heavier access is required then a more suitabe medium to take the oadings, such as shuttering py or Correx by Cordek, (pain / unprinted side down) shoud be paced on top of the untreated fet paper. The resin system shoud have cured for a minimum of 48 hours prior to pacing the protection. No poyethyene sheets, inseed treated hardboard, print or dyed card shoud be paced in contact with the resin surface. A joints in the protection medium shoud be taped, and a accidenta spiages shoud be recovered immediatey by remova and reinstatement of the protection. Damage wi occur to the system if these recommendations are not foowed. Ceaning (during instaation) A toos and equipment shoud be reguary ceaned using Atro Sove PU and dried thoroughy to reduce buid up and maintain the quaity of the instaation. Do not aow any Atro Sove to enter the mix. Ensure that the correct PPE is worn at a times. Disposa Due diigence must be adopted if accidenta spiages occur. Recover the spied materia using absorbent granues, transferring into a suitaby marked container. Disposa of a empty containers and accidenta spiages shoud be in accordance with the oca waste disposa authority.

Ceaning guidance Optimum sip resistance and appearance can ony be maintained with reguar ceaning. Foors with sip resistance wi require mechanica ceaning; wet-oop mop ceaning wi be ess effective but may be sufficient for routine maintenance of foors with a smooth surface. Microfibre ceaning systems shoud aso be sufficient for routine maintenance of foors with a smooth surface, provided that a suitabe detergent / dosage is used and the microfibre pads are changed with sufficient frequency to ensure their effectiveness. Steam ceaners and / or hot pressure ceaners shoud not be used on the Atro Fexifow. Warm water wi offer improved ceaning but the water temperature shoud not exceed 40 C. Entrance matting wi reduce ceaning requirements and shoud aso enhance the ongevity of the foor when combined with correct maintenance. Sweep or vacuum the foor to remove debris For norma ceaning, diute an akaine detergent such, as Atro Cean 44 or simiar, by 1:40 in cean water Aternativey, diute by 1:10 for infrequent heavy ceaning Liberay appy the water and detergent soution to the foor, scrubbing with a deck scrubber or sow-speed (< 400rpm) scrubbing machine and Atro UniPad or simiar Atro Fexifow 2mm cassic standard variant requires an Atro Unipad Atro Fexifow 2mm cassic sip-resistant variant requires a 3M white ceaning pad Pay particuar attention to areas where residues may accumuate, such as interna corners of perimeter coves and around coumns etc If possibe, aow the detergent soution to remain on the foor for severa minutes to break down deposits, but not sufficienty ong to aow the soution to evaporate Remove the soution by wet vacuum recovery and foow this with a fresh water rinse, or rinse the soution into drains if permissibe It is important that a detergent residue is removed from the textured surface of the foor. Detergent may become sippery which affects safety, or sticky which attracts and hods more dirt Atro Cean 44 and Atro Unipads are avaiabe through Atro Resins Saes Desk, but other detergents can be tested for compatibiity on request. Pease refer to the most up-to-date technica documents, incuding safety data sheets, for the Atro resin variant prior to beginning your instaation. Aways wear correct PPE whist instaing Atro products.
