Creates new capacity for timely and effective delivery of science-based information Five state-wide specialists housed at R&E Centers Endowment income ($ /yr) provides annual Endowment income ($480,000/yr) provides annual support for five positions

Next Steps Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission voted unanimously to pursue a special project assessment Assessment rate will be same as current commission rate to fund research projects ($1/ton apple, pear & soft fruit - $4/ton cherry) Time limited - 8 years or less, stops after goal achieved Funds restricted - only used for specific targets
