1 Agfest 2018 ACTIVITY PASSPORT This passport belongs to A UTASConnect Program 1
2 Welcome to Agfest 2018 In the early 1980s a group of 30 past and present Rural Youth members banded together and ran the very first Agfest in 1983 at Symmons Plains, Perth. It was a 2-day event attracting 111 exhibitors and 9,000 patrons. In only 4 short years the event had outgrown the site and Rural Youth purchased Quercus where you are today. Agfest is now home to over 700 exhibitors, attracts nearly 60,000 patrons and is recognised as one of the top three field days in Australia, contributing millions of dollars to the local economy. Amazingly it s all organised by volunteers with an average age of only 24. Being part of Rural Youth is great way to contribute to our rural communities and at the same time you get great training and experience that is hard to find elsewhere. Our members get the chance to go on overseas exchanges, attend social events, enter competitions such as Young Farmer of the Year, go on farm tours and much more. We hope you enjoy your time at Agfest, have fun completing the Learning Trail and hopefully in years to come you will join Rural Youth and volunteer at Agfest too and play your part in Growing Rural Tasmania. 2
