How we work Collaborative projects We combine R&D with industrial experience New cross diciplinary solutions A neutral part Innovation for sustainable growth
Innovation support for small and medium sized enterprises A big challenge for many companies is a structured innovation process and ensuring multidisciplinary competence. Through RISE SME, small and medium sized enterprises may access customized support. We help companies in various developmental stages with support for their needs, ideas or problems. We survey regional and national financing opportunities within RISE competence areas. Through Enterprise Europe Network we help companies expand their technique and innovations in Europe. Via EUSME-support 2020, companies may get counselling for EU financing opportunities. 10

Fiber Optics in Life Science The optical fiber enables distributed chemical sensing for environmental monitoring, portable and precise ph-sensing, process monitoring to control spills and exhausts, laser sources and systems for microscopy, and capillaries for sampling and analysis, to mention a few competitive solutions that are commercially available today. Novel technologies include areas such as lab-in-a-fiber (optofluidics) and miniaturized technologies for advanced multilumen. RISE Acreo has an extensive offer in life science within Fiber Otpics: Specialty optical fibers, including biocompatible fibers and capillaries Expertise in fiber optic components, sensors and solutions in life science Extensive laboratory resources Our current fiber optic activities in the life science area include Laser sources and high speed components for fluorescence microscopy Lab-in-a-fiber - optofluidic platform Specialty optical fibers Customer specific development projects: components, instrumenatation, and minimally invasive systems 14
SENSATION III online sensorsystems for resource-efficient and safe water management VINNOVA financed project through the UDI program. Total budget: 30 MSEK, Vinnova 40% and the consortium partners 60%. The consortium consists of drinking water producers, industry and academia. Concepts and services are developed to create unique water quality data in real-time for online early-warning systems including crude water, drinking water and industrial process water. Sensors developed in the project; electronic nose and tongue, flow cytometry, UVF (ultraviolet fluorescence), SCGD (microplasma technique) and impedance spectroscopy. Services include innovative cloudbased IT-solutions and implementation of a dose model using multivariat analysis. 15
Sensora Flow cytometry Image processing Laser (532 nm) Provflöde Kamera Acreo has developed a video-based flow cytometer for detection of E.Coli as an early indicator for contamination of crude water Specific labelling of E.Coli with fluorescent antibodies The system was designed to be cheaper, faster and simpler than traditional flow cytometry
Smart clothing for care of neurological disease for patients in their homes Challenge Swedes are diagnosed with Epilepsy and suffer from Parkinson. This group of chronic patients need regular care and treatment. Solution A comfortable, washable and smart garment with in-built sensors to continually monitor movement, heart status etc 17
Smart clothing for care of neurological disease for patients in their homes Goal To improve diagnostics and treatment of patients in their homes to increase quality of life for those with neurological complaints. Research partners RISE ICT (Acreo), Swerea IVF, Textilhögskolan i Borås, Sahlgrenska akademin, Göteborgs universitet. 18
