1 PERSONAL INFORMATION Family name, First name: Marques, José P. Date of birth: 27/12/1977 Nationality: Portuguese Family: web site and Research ID: SUMMARY Married with 3 daughters (0/3/6 years old) ORCID Scopus I was educated as an experimental physicist at the most prestigious university of Portugal, (Coimbra University). I later received a PhD in Physics from the University of Nottingham, where I worked at the laboratory of Sir Peter Mansfield (Medicine Nobel Laureate in 2003 for his contributions to the field of MRI) under the supervision of Richard Bowtell. During this period, I worked on the topic of long range dipolar fields in NMR and MRI. I subsequently took a postdoctoral position back in my home town University of Coimbra, where I developed new methods to process EEG-fMRI data in epilepsy. I was invited to work at one of the most well equipped high field MRI laboratories (7T human and 14T animal scanners) in Europe at the time, the CIBM (BioMedical Imaging Centre) at the University of Lausanne & EPFL, where I worked for 8 years in the institute of the renowned spectroscopist Prof. Gruetter. I grew from postdoctoral fellow to lecturer and permanent senior scientist, took several PhD supervision duties, established an own group and coordinated the institutes imaging efforts both for functional and quantitative structural imaging on the 7T human scanner. Some of the developed methods are now part of clinical devices thanks to a collaboration with Siemens Healthcare T 1 mapping using the MP2RAGE sequence. I was offered a position as the senior researcher NMR scientist at one of the leading European Centres for Cognitive Neuroimaging (Donders Institute) at Radboud University (>200 researchers). This has allowed me to work closer to neuroscientific and neurological applications, while continuing developing MR imaging methods that, can now find a quicker translations to medical diagnosis and large population studies.
