5 Pre-Installation Information Pre-Installation Information About the Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 7.2 Release The Costpoint Enterprise Reporting (CER) 7.2 release offers robust data models and a library of reports specifically designed for clients who are using the Cognos Analytics platform with Deltek Costpoint, Deltek and Expense, Deltek Costpoint Budgeting & Planning, and Deltek Costpoint Shop Floor products. CER 7.2 offers compatibility with Costpoint 7.1.1, TESS and 10, Budgeting & Planning 7.0, as well as Shop Floor 1.3. Also, Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 7.2 requires Cognos Analytics 11. If you use Costpoint and want to upgrade to Cognos Analytics 11, it is possible to upgrade your Cognos application and remain on a Costpoint compatible CER version. However, Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 7.2 only supports Costpoint The most recent Costpoint Enterprise Reporting version with Costpoint compatibility is CER IBM Cognos Analytics is the latest version of Cognos where Query Studio and Analysis Studio will be available. Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 7.2 delivers value that can benefit your organization by: Reducing implementation costs for new Deltek customers and customers migrating from Impromptu. Speeding up implementation by standardizing the product, and reducing the amount of on-site model and report customization needed. Reducing the ongoing costs of administration by decreasing the time spent changing data models for new Deltek product versions. Reducing the overall number of reports needed by providing more flexible reports with drill-through capabilities. CER Compatibility Matrix This matrix shows the different Deltek products that each Costpoint Enterprise Reporting version supports. The labels in italics in the CER Compatibility Matrix table refer to the models supported by the release. The CER for PMFG Model includes Part Data Security which is only applicable for Costpoint users. The Costpoint Enterprise Reporting model is also known as the Core model. Release Notes 2

9 New Features and Enhancements New Features and Enhancements This section includes summaries of the new features and enhancements included in this release. Cognos Analytics 11 The major upgrade made in Costpoint Enterprise Reporting 7.2 is the migration from IBM Cognos Business Intelligence to IBM Cognos Analytics or Cognos 11. The reports that you enjoyed using in previous CER versions are available in CER 7.2 with Cognos Analytics as the platform with some components that are available for a limited time only. For instance, Query Studio, Analysis Studio, and Cognos Workspace are available in Cognos 11, but will be deprecated in the near future. Cognos is now available on DSM with CERv7.2. If you are currently running Cognos , below are some of the changes you can expect to find after upgrading to Welcome Portal The out of the box welcome screen has been changed to align with Watson Analytics. However, if you have applied the custom Deltek Branding you will not notice this change. Some icons have changed. Instead of three levels of fly-out menus when you navigate content, there is only one level, but you can use breadcrumbs to navigate. There are also new options to sort and filter in My content and Team Content folders. Notifications have moved from the navigation bar to the application bar with a new Bell Icon. Upload files has been embedded in the New menu. A home button has been added to the top of the navigation bar. View my schedules and subscriptions in profile menu (previously just subscriptions) Dashboards New icons and colors. Release Notes 6

10 New Features and Enhancements On demand tool bar will only be displayed by request (right click) to reduce instances of it getting in the way. New visualizations added. For example, crosstab, radial, stacked 100% bar. Use of calculations within dashboard. Multiple columns per slot in order to view charted data based on more than one dimension. Chart multiple measures. Repeating visualizations. Global filters and other filter enhancements. Display/hide values in charts. Define navigation paths from within dashboard. Image library extension is available where you can load custom images to use in Cognos. Reporting A new interactive filter panel will help report users to manage all filters applied to a report interactively. Navigation paths for data exploration. Supports package based drill-through s in interactive viewer. Export to excel improvement (that is, tabular data). Improved drill-up/drill-down behavior. Run as XML capability An image library extension is available where you can load custom images to use in Cognos. Data Module Use of calculations Improved diagramming To know more about the other changes since Cognos Analytics , see the following online resources: Leveraging the Power of Analytics Learn what s new in the latest release of #Cognos Analytics Introducing Cognos Analytics Report Comments in Main Queries of CER Reports Starting in this release, a Report Comment data item will be added to main query of a CER report if something was modified. The data item contains short descriptions of changes which is useful when you want to see updates made to the report. As an example, you will see the Report Comments data item in the qdetaildata query of the Project Status Report (PSR). Release Notes 7

11 New Features and Enhancements To see the **Report Comments** data item: 1. Open the Project Status Report in edit mode in Cognos Analytics Click the Queries icon. 3. Click the qdetaildata query. 4. On the Data Items pane, click **Report Comments**. Click the Properties icon. 5. On the Data Item pane on the right, click the Expression field and the Ellipsis icon next to it. A screen appears that displays the report comments. Video Tutorials on CER 7.2 and Cognos Analytics 11 Video tutorials about the new user interface in Cognos Analytics 11 as well as creating reports in CER 7.2 are available online. Navigating Cognos Analytics 11 In this video, you will learn how to navigate the Welcome Portal, Search, My Content, Interactive Viewer, Team Content, Recent, Page Switcher, and Personal Menu in Cognos Analytics 11. Changes in Cognos Analytics 11 for Report Writers Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 This video shows a step-by-step process on how to create a simple report in Cognos Analytics 11 as well as presenting the new locations of the report menus found in previous Cognos versions. Some of the functionalities presented are editing a report, applying filters, enabling the Interactivity Mode, removing null values, and applying groups based on column headings. Release Notes 9

13 Software Issues Resolved Software Issues Resolved Descriptions of Software Issues You will notice that the descriptions of some software defects contain extra information, including ways to work around the defects. For the most part, these issues were addressed before this release through hot fixes, and the additional information was developed to help you decide whether or not you needed to install the hot fixes. When you install this release, you must install all fixes in the release; you cannot choose to install some and not others. Nevertheless, this additional information has been included in case you instituted some of the workarounds and can now stop using them, or you simply want more background information about the defect repairs. Deltek Defect Tracking Number Description: In the Project Status Report, there were no values displayed when the Database Schema used was 'Deltek'. This happened even if the framework model was republished. Customers Impacted: This defect affects you if you run the Project Status Report in Costpoint Enterprise Reporting. Workaround Before Fix: None. Additional Notes: None. Deltek Defect Tracking Number Description: The default schema DBO in the CER for Budgeting and Planning model should have been removed. Customers Impacted: This defect affects you if you use the CER for Budgeting and Planning model. Workaround Before Fix: Remove the DBO schema in the CER for Budgeting and Planning model and republish it. Additional Notes: None. Deltek Defect Tracking Number Description: The Prior Year Revenue was missing in the Project Status Report. Customers Impacted: This defect affects you if you run the Project Status Report in Costpoint Enterprise Reporting. Workaround Before Fix: None. Additional Notes: None. Release Notes 10

14 Software Issues Resolved Deltek Defect Tracking Number Description: The Alternate Project grouping did not return any data in the Project Status Report. 15 Known Issues Known Issues Internet Explorer 11 You may encounter a missing report object toolbar that includes filters, fonts, icons, and others, when using Internet Explorer 11 with Cognos Analytics. Instead of a toolbar, you may only see a border line. This issue happens randomly and can be resolved when you upgrade to IBM Cognos Analytics or when you use another web browser. Chrome Browser When you use Chrome as web browser, you may not see all the companion legacy applications when you go to Manage» Others. Errors in Running Change Scripts with an Oracle Database When you use an Oracle database and run the following change scripts, you may encounter an error in the lines where connection to the datasource need to be established. CORE_Upgrade_CER71_to_CER711 on CP711 ORA DB: Error on multiple transaction, missing tables/views CORE_714_711_CU2 - Error on Oracle DB There were no errors when these change scripts were used with an MS SQL Server database. Branding in Workspaces The images used in Workspaces may not display correctly. Release Notes 12
