Whie the need for Metro Raiway was fet ong ago, it took 22 years for the first Kokata Metro to ro out for 17 km with a 14 times cost increase. However, taking essons from the Kokata Metro, the Dehi Metro Rai Corporation (DMRC) competed the 65.1 km, Phase 1 in a record time of 7 years & 3 months. The second phase of Dehi Metro was aso commissioned we before Jan Considering that Metro Raiway is a fast, efficient and cost effective mode of trave, many new projects have been taken up in Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bengauru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, and Kochi whie proposas are being drawn up for MRTS systems in Pune, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Bhopa, Indore and Faridabad. About Rs. 3 triion has been committed for setting up or expanding Metro Rai and Monorai systems in 20 cities. This wi bring diverse business opportunities in Roing stock, Power Suppy, Signaing & Teecom, Automatic Fare Coection, Buiding Management and other faciity-reated requirements. In the direction of meeting Metro Raiway's technoogy needs, L&T-C&A offers two soutions -- Integrated Automatic Fare Coection system and Integrated Buiding Management. In the eary 2000, smart card-based soutions were adopted for ticketing appication because most of the IT systems were off-ine and what was needed was a portabe eectronic ticket that coud be authenticated off-ine, be secure and not be easiy repicated. Undoubtedy, the smart card was the soution at that time but had its own imitation of being transferabe and requiring high investment. Increase in demand for open payment soutions, need for virtuay imitess fare poicy/structure impementation and increase in the ife cyce costs of contactess smart cards are driving the transit operators to focus on other cutting edge and patron-friendy technoogies in the arena of Automatic Fare Coection (AFC) system. Near Fied Communication (NFC) is one of the emerging communication technoogies in this direction. NFC enabes eectronic devices, incuding mobie phones and payment terminas, to communicate with one another for payment and other reated transactions. The technoogy is simpe; it is a short-range, ow power wireess ink evoved from RFID technoogy that can transfer data between two devices a few centimeters from each other. Its buit-in security makes NFC an apt choice for mobie payments, thus gaining prominence in the smart phones. The smart phones are increasingy being equipped with NFC capabiities which can be used in contactess payment systems. This can repace the currenty used Mag stripe cards, Chip cards, RFID-based cards, Paper tickets, etc. For ong, fare coection in pubic transport systems have been based on paper ticketing which comes with its inherent drawbacks ike non-environment friendiness, patron inconvenience, and revenue oss due to no patron gating and inconvenience of cash handing. To overcome such chaenges, the combination of NFC with mobie NFC (Near-Fied Communication) technoogy aows a sustainabe business c a s e f o r o p e r a t o r s i n p u b i c transport taking customer convenience to the next eve.

Before the start of journey, a patron can check the fares onine, buy ticket, reserve seat, pay for parking and downoad ticket to phone. Once the patron reaches the station, s/he can tap the phone on NFC termina at the gate to park the vehice. To start the journey, a patron can tap the phone on NFC termina, redeem ticket and board the train. At the end of journey, patron simpy taps the phone at the exit gate. 5 CAnvas - Issue 5 5 Comprehensive Automation Soution for Mumbai Monorai February 2, 2014, ushered in an era of word-cass trave for Mumbai's commuters with Phase I of Mumbai Monorai being thrown open to the pubic, after it was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan the previous day. It enjoys the distinction of being the first monorai project in independent India since the Kudaa Vaey Raiway and Patiaa State Monorai Train ways were cosed in the ate 1920s. Handing patrons efficienty whie providing comfort and safety, the Metro operators today require to overcome the chaenges faced in egacy systems in the area of revenue accounting arising out of frauduent acts by passengers and some staff in different areas of operation. The Mumbai Monorai has addressed these chaenges by impementing the Automatic Fare Coection (AFC) system suppied by L&T-C&A. Considering the impementation chaenges at Monorai project, the execution was panned in 2 phases. Whie Phase-I connects Chembur with Wadaa which incudes 7 stations and a depot, the Phase-II connects Wadaa with Gadge Maharaj Chowk which incudes the remaining 10 stations. The monorai system aong Chembur-Wadaa and Wadaa-Sant. Gadge Maharaj Chowk corridors has been designed for a ridership of 6000 and PHPDT in the year 2041 respectivey. Need & Objectives of AFC: Prevent revenue eakage Fexibiity for impementation of fare schemes O&M convenience Fexibiity for Impementation of inter-moda transportation in future Project Scope: The project's scope incuded design, suppy, instaation & commissioning and maintenance support of the AFC system comprising: Customer convenience Suppy of Automatic Gates, Ticket Vending Machines, Ticket Readers, Portabe Ticket Decoders, Station & Centra Servers and cients machines and Services ike identification & impementation of Business Rues, Fare Media Layouts, MMI finaization, Avaiabiity and provision for future Interoperabiity; Interface co-ordination with third party systems; Quaity Assurance comprising Software Verification & Vaidation and IP testing of equipment ike TVM & TRs, Testing incuding FAT at vendor's works, Integrated FAT, Partia Acceptance Test (PAT) at Station for Station eve equipment and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) with Operation Contro Centre (OCC) integrating a stations. In ine with the design requirements, each typica station is equipped with minimum 8 numbers of Automatic Gates (AG), 2 numbers of Ticket Office Machine (TOM), 1 Ticket Vending Machine (TVM), 2 numbers of Ticket Readers (TR), 1 Station Computer and 3 numbers of Portabe Ticket Decoders (PTD) which are monitored and controed by a Centra Computer at the Wadaa Depot.

6 6 CAnvas - Issue 5 The ticketing soution is impemented with two-tier architecture design with an in-buit capabiity of station hardware ike AGs and TRs communicating directy with Centra Server in the event of Station Server faiure. Contactess smart cards and tokens are used as ticket instruments. The same can be bought manuay from Ticket Office or TVM. Tokens are meant to be used for singe trip/journey and return trips for occasiona users whereas Cards can be used by reguar patrons for various options ike: Eectronic/Stored Vaue Purse (e-purse) Trip Pass (with the options ike 10/30/50, etc) Tourist Pass Period Pass (i.e. Weeky, Monthy Pass, etc) Hoiday Pass The proposed system comprises the foowing key sub-systems: Automatic Gates: Controed patron passages ocated at each station in the form of arrays, which wi separate the Paid and Unpaid areas at station concourse eve. These gate arrays incude the foowing types: o Entry Gate o Exit Gate o Reversibe Gate and o Wide Reversibe/Luggage Gate Ticket Vending Machines designed for the issuance of Token(s) and reoad Smart Card. Ticket Office Machines: Manua ticketing counters, featured with issuance of Token(s) & Smart Card, Reoad, Refund, Cance and Gate Rejection Anaysis operations. Ticket Readers: Remaining vaue check terminas ocated both, in paid and unpaid areas, to hep patrons to know about the existing vaue and vaidity of Fare Media. Portabe Ticket Decoders: Handhed terminas used by the roving ticket checkers. It can aso be used as secondary Ticket Office Machines to hande the increasing traffic at stations during peak hours. Station Computer s: Located at each station to contro and monitor the respective station eve equipment and aso act as a bridge between Centra Computer and Station Leve Equipment. Centra Computer : Located at Depot premises and is featured with Administrative, Contro and Monitoring functions. 7 L&T-C&A bags Integrated Buiding Management order for Hyderabad Metro Contro & Automation Business Unit (C&A) has been awarded a contract for Integrated Buiding Management system for the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rai Project. The Hyderabad Metro Rai Project is the Word's Largest Pubic- Private Partnership Project (PPP) in the Metro Sector, being executed in a Design-Buid-Finance-Operate-and-Transfer (DBFOT) basis by L &T. The Hyderabad Metro Rai Project wi incude 61 utra-modern stations with state-of-art depots and compete infrastructure to ensure seamess and comfortabe trave between existing raiway station, suburban raiways network and bus station. The scope incudes design, suppy, instaation, testing, commissioning & Life cyce support of the Integrated Buiding Management (IBMS) for Eevated stations, OCC, BCC, Administrative Buiding and Depots to be executed in six (6) stages with the first nine (9) stations and Administration Buiding, OCC, BCC and Uppa Depot constructed in Stage 1.
