6 How Egnyte Protect Works Egnyte Protect - where our content governance solution runs with content classification, protection rules, on-going monitoring for real-time alerting and more Egnyte Connector - handles communication between Egnyte Protect and the content repositories. Content Repositories - Can be a cloud EFSS solution like Egnyte Connect or an on-premises repository like SharePoint or Windows File Server Egnyte Protect orchestrates data across multiple repositories in the cloud and on premises. For Cloud Content Repositories Egnyte Protect scans, analyzes, and classifies content stored in cloud content repositories. The metadata from files, hierarchy, permissions, users, and groups is extracted, and classification happens in the Egnyte Protect cloud along with the analysis to identify issues.
