1 ABOUT US Datlink Insulation & Acoustics have been involved in a number of prestigious projects where both our Insulating and Acoustic products have been used successfully. These include: Cape Town International Airport, Gautrain, Oliver Tambo Airport, Canal Walk Shopping Centre, Grand West Casino, Sun City, various Western Cape Schools, Cape Town International Film Studio, Worcester Rural Clinic, Vodacom Data Centre, Christel House School, Herzlia School, V&A waterfront Clock Tower, Westemere Railway Station, Northpine Technical High School, Silverstar Casino, Kigali Airport and various domestic projects. CHANGES IN THE INSULATION INDUSTRY SANS 428 Fire Standard, a new standard that ensures that all insulation products are correctly classified to adhere to the new fire standards. SANS 204 (Energy Efficiency) legislation has recently been passed and stipulates minimum insulation requirements based on required s within different geographical regions. SANS XA Energy usage in buildings. Further to the new legislation, the impending electricity tariff increases of approximately 30% over the next three years will greatly affect the design of buildings and the use of insulation products. To give you an idea of the energy savings on empty building please refer to the chart on the next page. Our products are manufactured using recycled polyester from waste PET bottles (Coke, Sprite, Water etc.), and conform to cradle to cradle principals as verified by Ecospecifier. ( Our product range includes ThermocousTex Board: A thermally bonded polyester based insulating and acoustic board (50 or 87.5kg/m³ density) used within standard suspended ceiling solutions, over or between purlins, cladding or skimmed ceilings which is also available with foil, vinyl faced or additional acoustic cloth options. ThermocousTex Fibre: A thermally bonded polyester based insulating and acoustic blanket (24 or 50kg/m³ density), plain or foil faced, used over or between purlins within ceiling voids, as cladding or in cavity walls. Romatherm : A thermally bonded insulating blanket polyester fibre, used as a lay on insulation for ceilings. These are available in thickness of 55mm, 75mm and 100mm in plain or foil faced options. IsoBoard (XPSBoard ): Used for domestic, industrial and retail ceilings, as over purlin insulation, under floor insulation, cavity wall insulation, inverted roof insulation or where IsoBoard is laid on top of a concrete deck. InnoBlok : Insulated cement bricks and blocks in standard industry sizes and strengths but with greatly improved insulating properties. InnoFilla : Insulating additive used in cementious products for plaster, mortar and concrete for slabs and surface bed applications. This additive is either added on site or at the batch plant.

It is expressed as the thickness of the material divided by the thermal conductivity.(k) Ozone depletion percentage U Value Overall heat transfer co-efficient and measures how well parts of a building transfer heat. This means that the higher the U value the worse the thermal performance of the building envelope. A low U value usually indicates high levels of insulation.

11 ThermocousTex Fibre Sonic Liner Description: A thermally bonded polyester blanket, faced with an acoustically permeable black woven glass cloth, manufactured using recycled polyester (PET Coke bottles etc.) ideal for both thermal and acoustic insulation. Properties: Specifically designed as an interior insulation material for sheet metal ducts used in heating, ventilating and air conditioning. Provides an optimum combination of efficient sound absorption, low thermal conductivity and minimal airstream surface friction. Prevents condensation on cold metal duct surfaces extending the life of the system. 13 Romatherm (Lightweight Insulation Properties) Romatherm is manufactured from a hollow and solid polyester fiber blanket. On flat ceilings the Romatherm can be laid in between the trusses or on top of the battens. Romatherm can also be used above purlins to reduce the noise entering through roof sheeting. Romatherm has been tested by the SABS, for thermal performance and for fire propagation. Romatherm does not contribute to flame spread and is not toxic. One of Romatherm s advantages as an insulation product is that it does not collapse over a long period. If the light will generate over 80 0 C, we advise that a spacer block be placed between the light fitting and the IsoBoard For downlighters use fittings that have a rotating globe, this will prevent heat from transferring from the globe to the frame. The downlighter globes that can be used are the MR16 and GU10 types.

15 InnoBlok & InnoBrik Innoblocks and Innobriks are cement based products which are produced in various sizes, formats and bulk densities and accordance with standard block manufacturing specifications and sizes. The good thermal insulation properties are achieved by using the additive InnoFilla, which traps air within the pores of the mix, hence improving the insulation characteristics but without loss of strength or quality. The products are manufactured under strict quality control systems (which include SABS 0400, SABS 1215, ISO 9002 and follow our Agrement certificate) this ensures that the products quality is consistent. The thermal values start from a 30% improvement over standard cementitious bricks and blocks. The main advantage over other walling systems that provide insulation is that the InnoBlok & Brick do so whilst building with a standard brick or block and bricklayers on site work with these products as they would for any other product i.e. no special training or changes in details are required! With the energy crisis that South Africa is encountering, and the threat of global warming, it is obvious the steps that the South African Government is taking with minimum thermal values for ceilings and walls! The minimum for walls will be between m 2.K/W, which the InnoBlok and Brick comfortably attains. By using the InnoBlok & Brick, not only do you control the heat from entering in summer and escaping in winter. It also assists with the control of condensation thereby preventing diseases such as TB. 16 InnoFilla InnoFilla is used in conjunction with the mortar mix to add thermal properties to concrete bricks and blocks. Can also be used as plaster, mix one bag of InnoFilla (100 liters) with one bag on cement, ensure that you follow mixing instructions. InnoFilla can also be used in normal aggregate, for floor applications to improve insulation save energy. The amount of InnoFilla required depends on thermal requirements, but generally two to three bags per cubic meter is the generic norm. InnoFilla is added to the mix on site, either into the ready mix truck or into a conventional mixer for not more than five minutes before pouring. The savings on energy by adding to the floor are in excess of 10% InnoFilla is a vermiculite based product, with additives to ensure that the material is spread consistently through the mix.
