4 Adhesive tapes for Automotive applications The automotive market is one of the most important industrial sectors and it requires products with the highest innovation content. 5 Wheel balancing weights This application requires the use of double-sided adhesive tapes to fix metal plates of a specific weight on the internal side of wheel rims. During the life of the vehicle these plates undergo very high stress due to thermal shock, strong vibrations and the centrifugal force that develops. Therefore, the adhesive tape used has an important sealing role and it must also compensate for any possible deformation of the other elements. 6 Rear view mirror systems This adhesive tapes are ideal to fix reflecting surfaces on special plastic plates in the production of rear view mirror components. During the life of the vehicle rear view mirrors withstand very high stresses due to thermal shock and vibrations. Additional stresses also develop within the system which increase the structural demand on the adhesive tape. 7 Fixing applications This application requires the use of double-sided adhesive tapes to fix cars components, such as number plates, finishings for side pillars, headlights, mouldings and name plates, spoilers, thermoformed fittings, parcel shelves, light steel sections and other fittings. 12 Adhesive tapes for Printing applications Printing is one of the oldest fields where man has tested and developed technical solutions to support and spread human knowledge. More and more advanced printing techniques have gradually extended to most industrial areas and also to the packaging sector. In the last two decades more and more advanced technical solutions offering high print quality at competitive costs have made flexo printing increasingly popular. Today, the company is able to supply advanced solutions that are making a strong contribution to the continuous growth of those market sectors. 13 Flexible packaging This product range is ideal in wide web printing of flexible packaging - either paper or plastic film, or multi-layers combinations - where the use of adhesive tape is required. Essentially, these tapes must combine the two following special characteristics. First of all, they must provide a perfect adhesion of the plate onto the cylinder or sleeve during high-speed printing operations and in the presence of ink vapors. Wide web printing is the maximum expression of flexography printing reaching top speed and very high quality standards, which require the use of highly adaptable adhesive tapes. In order to meet these requirements, BiesSse has designed and developed several lines of products with different price-performance ratios ensuring easy and bubble-free plate mounting operations, perfect adhesion during printing runs, residue-free plate removal and low thickness tolerance. On the other hand, they must also compensate possible deformations of the plate or of the entire system occurring during printing operations. The adhesive tapes used for this application must be resistant to solvents and to the detachment force of the photopolymer plate, depending on its elastic module and on the centrifugal force generated during printing operations. 16 Labels This product range has been especially designed for narrow web printing of paper, plastic film or multi-layer combinations where adhesive tapes are used. Essentially, these tapes must combine the two following special characteristics. First of all, they must provide a perfect bonding of the plate onto the cylinder or sleeve, so that it does not move during high-speed print operations and in the presence of ink vapors. On the other hand, they must also compensate any possible deformations of the plate or of the entire system occurring during print runs, while guaranteeing at the same time perfect thickness calibration. At the same time they must be able to be demounted at the end of the run without leaving any adhesive residues. In particular, in narrow-web printing, where very small diameter cylinders are normally used, the adhesion strength required is higher than in wide-web printing. In order to comply with all the above demands, BiesSse has developed several lines of products with different priceperformance ratios, which ensure easy and bubble-free mounting, perfect adhesion during printing operations, residue-free plate removal and moderate thickness tolerance. 18 Cardboard pre-print This application refers to the use of adhesive tapes in cardboard printing, before lamination with corrugated cardboard (preprint). However, they must also be able to be demounted at the end of the run without leaving any adhesive residue. Essentially, these products must combine two special features. First of all, they must provide a perfect bonding of the plate onto the large size cylinders which are normally used so that they remain in place during high-speed printing operations and when ink vapors develop. On the other hand, they must also compensate any deformation of the plate or of the entire system occurring during printing operations. The adhesive tapes used for this application must be resistant to solvents and to the detachment force of the photopolymer plate, depending on its elastic module and on the centrifugal force generated during printing operations. For easier repositioning and demounting of the plate, it is necessary to use a low-adhesion tape. On the other hand, for strong bonding during printing operations it is better to use a tape with high adhesion properties. 20 Cardboard post-print This application refers to the use of adhesive tapes in direct printing on corrugated multi-layer cardboard, (post-print). Essentially, these products must combine two special features. First of all, they must provide a perfect bonding of the plate onto the large size cylinders which are normally used in this process so that they remain in place during high-speed printing operations and when ink vapors develop. On the other hand, they must also compensate any deformation of the plate or the entire system during printing runs. Rigid adhesive tapes Adhesive tapes used in post-print applications must feature very high adhesion and be resistant to solvents and to the detachment force of the plate, depending on its elastic module and on the centrifugal force generated during printing operations. However, they must also be able to be demounted at the end of the run without leaving any adhesive residue. Post-print operations on cardboard have usually been conducted by pre-mounting plates on Mylar using rigid or soft adhesive tapes (not cushion). 23 Insulation This application involves the use of adhesive tapes in sealing and insulation of supply channels, ducts, pipes, partitions, and window/door frames, in the civil and industrial construction and equipment installation sectors. These adhesive tapes must be able to be applied on various types of surfaces and must also feature best insulation and sealing properties. In order to comply with such requirements, BiesSse has designed and developed a special product range featuring foam carriers and very high tack adhesives. Also available are single and double-sided adhesive tapes suitable for joining the terminals and edges of insulating components. In external installations, the insulation material is exposed to changing weather conditions, UV radiation and polluting agents. 24 Splicing This application involves the use of adhesive tapes in splicing a wide variety of wound materials, such as plastic films, paper, thin metal and cardboard, etc. During production these materials are unwound at high speed using bespoke manual or automatic unwinding machines. In order to meet these requirements, BiesSse has designed and developed single and double-sided adhesive tapes especially dedicated to splicing applications offering an ideal balance between tack and cohesion. In the splicing phase the tape withstands high shear stress and often also thermal shock. 25 Photovoltaic applications This application refers to the use of special adhesive tapes in the assembly of photovoltaic panel frames and in fixing electric wires boxes and panels support guides. During the normal life of photovoltaic panels, the system is exposed to UV radiation and strong polluting agents. 26 Advertising signs, cardboard This product range is dedicated to applications that require the use of adhesive tapes in the advertising/cardboard sector to fix name and number plates, to assemble brochures, catalogues, sample books and any other paper and cardboard material. Their special feature is the capacity to fix a wide variety of materials such as film, paper, cloth, etc. on different surfaces. The BiesSse range of products especially designed to comply with these requirements, feature very thin carriers, free from surface impurities or unevenness. 27 Channel creasing applications These adhesive tapes are used in the production of channel creasing components and to fix them in corrugated cardboard pre-moulding operations. The main requirement of the tapes used for this application is the ability to ensure that the channel creasing components remain tightly fixed on the equipment and show excellent resistance to stresses occurring in the creasing process. These adhesive tapes must feature a bonding strength suitable for various types of surfaces and compatible the plastic materials used in the production of channel creasing components. 28 Pipes and electric cable ducts This application refers to the use of adhesive tapes to fix cable ducts on various types of material, such as plastic, iron, wood and ceramic. The main requirement of these products is to ensure perfect bonding on polyolefin material with low surface energy. 29 Envelopes and bags This application refers to the production of paper, polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC envelopes and bags, where adhesive tapes are used on the closing flaps. The main characteristic of these products is the ability to allow envelopes and bags sealed permanently or temporarily to be inspected. The tapes used must therefore feature either a temporary or a permanent adhesive on their opening flaps, depending on the final use of the products. In order to comply with these requirements BiesSse has developed specific adhesive tapes featuring the required sealing properties, in addition to resistance to humidity, which is essential in food wrapping. 30 Shipbuilding The assembly of various sail components and the application of spinnakers before stitching are made using adhesive tapes. 34 Road and advertising signs, paving This application refers to the use of adhesive tapes to install safety notice signs in roads and industrial facilities, and to lay fitted carpets and temporary floors such as in fairs and exhibitions buildings. The main feature of these adhesive tapes must be to ensure permanent or temporary fixing on road asphalt, concrete or varnished surfaces in industrial floorings. Therefore, the tapes used for these applications must feature adhesives which can withstand the strain produced by vehicles and fork-lift trucks. 35 Fashion industry These tapes are used to fix sequins on fashion wear and accessories with the function of application tape. They are also used for adhesive cloth labels applied on clothing and footwear. The main feature of these tapes is to ensure that the sequins are picked up and applied at high temperature on the garment, according to the drawing. Therefore, such tapes must be able to resist very high temperature (up to 200 C) when the sequins are applied. Concerning the adhesion of cloth labels, the tape used must offer very high surface tack.
