IAC Acoustics Noise-Foil Sound Absorption Panels What will you learn? How Noise-Foil panels solve noise control problems. How to choose the appropriate Noise-Foil panel component and options. How to describe and specify Noise-Foil products and how they are installed. How IAC can provide you with additional information.
IAC Acoustics Noise-Foil Sound Absorption Panels Presentation Topics IAC Acoustics company info. Basic acoustic & sound absorption panel terminology. Noise-Foil panel types and performances. Sound absorption panel applications. IAC Acoustics website & contacts. Questions and answers.
Sound Seal is a leading manufacturer of commercial and architectural acoustic sound control products & materials. Offers a wide product selection to the acoustics & noise control markets. Over 37 years of expertise, Sound Seal can offer the technical support and know how to solve any noise problem. Sound Seal Agawam, Massachusetts Established: 1978 Dedicated staff to guide customers and project teams through step by step selection and specifications, ensuring we get it right the first time.
Sound Seal acquired INC, an acoustical metal panel company, in October 2014 Sound Seal acquired IAC Acoustics assets in December IAC Acoustics (Formerly INC)- North Aurora, IL IAC Established: 1949 INC Established: 1968 Moving forward the company operates as IAC Acoustics, A Division of Sound Seal.
IAC Acoustics Noise-Foil Sound Absorption Panels Noise-Foil panels protect workers, enhance productivity improve communities by reducing reverberant build up of sound levels in enclosed spaces and eliminating noise problems in outdoor applications. BUILD UP OF MULTIPLE REFLECTIONS In close fitting enclosed spaces, reflective surfaces like concrete and steel can produce reverberant buildup of 5 to 10 db Properly selected panels can reduce or eliminate this build-up.
IAC Acoustics Noise-Foil Sound Absorption Panels Noise-Foil panels absorb sound reducing the reverberant build up of sound levels in enclosed spaces and eliminating unwanted reflections in outdoor applications. In larger interior spaces, noise can reflect off walls and flooring and affect workers at a distance from noisy equipment. Sound absorptive panels can reduce or eliminate the impact of the reverberant sound path.
IAC Acoustics Noise-Foil Sound Absorption Panels Noise-Foil panels absorb sound reducing the reverberant build up of sound levels in enclosed spaces and eliminating unwanted reflections in outdoor applications. Outdoor sound absorptive panels can maintain the effectiveness of acoustic barriers, even when reflective surfaces are present. Measure sound energy with special unit called decibel or db. Not linear / arithmetic Doubling or halving sound energy = 3 db difference. 60 db to 110 db = 100,000 X difference in energy. A Weighting accounts for ear s variable frequency response vs perfect lab microphone.

IAC Acoustics Noise-Foil Sound Absorption Panel Applications What Frequencies? OCTAVE BAND CENTER FREQUENCIES A-Scale 63 Hz 125Hz 250Hz 500Hz 1000 Hz 2000 Hz 4000 Hz 8000 Hz The property of sound that most determines pitch or tone. Audible frequency range for humans is between: 20 Hz very low bass 20,000 Hz very high screech Sounds & acoustic properties vary by frequency.
Acoustics Terminology for Rating Sound Absorbing Panels Sound Absorption Coefficients & NRC: Noise Reduction Coefficient Follows ASTM C-423 standard. At various frequency bands (groups of frequencies), measure the difference in sound levels before and after installation of sound absorbing material in a reverberant room. Use measured difference to calculate Sound Absorption Coefficient (% of sound energy absorbed by test piece) for each frequency band. The average of values from 250 Hz to 2,000 Hz gives a single number, Noise Reduction Coefficient, NRC. Approximation of % of sound energy absorbed, 1.00 = 100% full absorption, 0.25 = 25% absorption. Bigger number means more absorption. Some test data will exceed 1.00 due to lab effects.
Noise-Foil Metal Sound Absorption Systems High sound absorption performances, Noise Reduction Coefficients of Data provided for 125 Hz and 4 khz for industrial applications. Variety of thicknesses 2", 2.5", 4" Available fill protection options with spacer with adjusted acoustic performances.
Noise-Foil Metal Sound Absorption Systems Continuous and intermittent installations. Variety of materials: Galvanized steel Galvannealed / powder coated Aluminum Stainless steel Variety of installation options, J track / Z track, surface mounted.
Noise-Foil Metal Sound Absorption Systems Noise-Foil Types I, II, III, IV Industrial Applications Building design and engineering firms. Facility owners, plant managers, engineers. Pump stations. Mechanical rooms. Engine-gen set halls. Test facilities. Manufacturing plants.
Noise-Foil Metal Sound Absorption Systems Noise-Foil Types I, II, III, IV Noise requirements for new construction. OSHA work-place safety. Noise transmitted to property line. Acoustic panels absorb sound energy and reduce noise levels within enclosed spaces and sound energy transmitted out of the equipment hall. Extensive coverage is required for maximum benefit. Panels line walls and ceiling.
Noise-Foil Metal Sound Absorption Systems Noise-Foil Type V, Cladding C/S Commercial and Industrial Applications Used for new construction and also retrofit noise complaint remediation. Cladding panels cover existing walls and screens to provide sound absorption. Warehouse and distribution centers. Rooftop and ground mounted equipment. Water - shedding configuration and durable powder coated construction.
Noise-Foil Type I Configuration Open backed, non - welded construction. Most cost effective option. Standard 14" and 18" wide. Narrower widths simplify layout and install. Narrower widths maintain flat face without stiffeners. 2" and 4" thick Fully perforated face sheet. Simple installation with J & Z track.
Noise-Foil Type II Configuration Open backed with spot welded perimeter channels. Larger widths available for coverage of greater dimensions. 2" and 4" thick Fully perforated face sheet. Simple installation with H joiner detail.
Noise-Foil Type III Configuration Acoustic panel with sound absorbing perforated front and back. Ceiling hung baffle arrangements. Wall mounted with air-gap between panel and wall for additional absorption. 2" and 4" thicknesses.
Noise-Foil Type IV Configuration Acoustic panel with sound absorbing front and solid back. Solid back to prevent transmission of sound through the panel. Sound blocking capability rated for STC-33 performance. 2" and 4" thicknesses.
Noise-Foil Type V & Cladding C/S Configuration Acoustic panel with open back. Roll formed for attractive, flat appearance. Ideal for exterior applications. Galvanized and powder-coated. Multi-step phosphate rinse prior to coating. Solid upper surface and perforated lower surfaces to drain moisture. 18" and 24" high. 2-1/2" thick standard, installation with standoffs available for 3" and 4" depths.
Noise-Foil Type V & Cladding C/S Configuration Noise-Foil Type V = Cladding Panel, C/S cladding panel, steel materials.
